SPA BATH RETREAT
Concept Statement
This design offers a thoroughly decadent spa environment for work-weary bodies. Rich polished copper contrasts against deep black; lots of natural light, rustic wood and stone textures; elegant quartz and shimmery accents.
Bath Standards
- Clearance: NKBA recommends a minimum clear floor space of 30” x 48” at each fixture, plus space for maneuvering
- Fixture Placement A minimum clear floor space of 30” should be maintained from the front edge of all fixtures to any opposite fixture, wall, or obstacle
- Lavatory Height The height for a lavatory can vary between 32” and 43”, depending on the user’s needs
- Shower Size: The minimum interior shower size is 30” x 30”, but larger sizes like 36” x 36” are recommended for comfortable use
- Storage Adequate storage for toiletries and bath linens should be planned, with frequently used items ideally placed between 15” and 48” above the floor
- Ventilation A minimum ventilation of 60 CFM (28 L/s) is required, with additional ventilation needed for bathrooms with multiple fixtures
- Passageways: Passageways should be a minimum of 36” wide with a minimum ceiling height of 80”
