We use the textile facade to protect one of the facades of the building of the sun

Mango tree

We designed three different floor-plan types: 80m², 110m² and 140m² in order to provide more dynamism to the building`s façades.

The enclosing system is independent of the structural system, that design decision allowed us to have flexible floor plans.

We used a mango tree to mark the façade

name cause the abundance of Mango tree (typical tree of the region) that exsist on-site, in front of this, we decided to use the canopies of this tree to scratch the textile façade, which surrounds the Northeast façade. On the southeast facade we opted for a glass skin, which opens the apartments to the sunset of the city, known as “City of the Sun”.

Urban Backyard is a research developed

by PET at my university, Potiguar University, in two squares of Ponta Negra neighborude, in Natal/RN. PET is a Tutorial Teaching Programme, programme of federal government to boost research and development in graduation courses.

Urban Backyard research team was formed by 7 bachelor students of architecture and a coordinator Professor. Our main objective with this project was to promote tactical experiences through urban intervention and

research about the intervention site.

“Light Points� was one of the interventions we performed (picture 01), in December of 2016. In Light Points, we added lights and panels to a bus stop.

We also performed a workshop of urban prototyping (picture 02 and 03) where we presented Urban Backyard research to students and a community. In this workshop, we talked about urban furniture and ephemeral interventions.

In May of 2018, urban Backyard presented an artistic installation called QUBO in Potiguar University (picture 04).

At the same month, we performed an intervention at a bicicross lane present in one of the squares. The bicicross athletes elect-

ed three different words that represented to them the meaning of bicicross. The chosen words were: Unity, Hapiness and Resistance.

We painted these words in the track one day before the competition (Picture 06 and cover picture).

Still in May, Urban Backyard promoted a workshop to children (picture 05) of a school nears the site studied to promote awareness about the importance of preserving the public spaces of the city. In July of 2017, we performed a workshop of experimental drawing with students (picture 07), where each participant was invited to draw a view of the squares and could explain the reasons of that choice.

In August, Urban Backyard promote a Photography competition, where each participate was invited to post a photo on their

social networks representing their own “urban backyard”, the area of the city in which each would have an affective connection.

To finalize the year activities, on October we appear in ArchDaily, archdaily.com. br/br/881768/mostra-de-urbanismo-colaborativo-conheca-os-projetos-participante , and on November the urban backyard presented, in studied squares, a documentary of the activities and all we do in this time. 04.MRV APARTMENTS Student interior architecture competition Solo work

Living room view

The contest asked to develop a lowcost interior architecture proposal for social housing apartments, 26m². The program is: teenager bedroom, living room, kitchen and dining room. The competition

demanded that the whole proposal should not cost more than 2,500 US$. Low cost materials were selected to compose the furniture, such as: pallet boxes, OSB wood and concrete blocks.
