Calling case study Eileen (Eils) Shipton became curate at St Peter’s Church, Chertsey in the summer. Not knowing what to do when she left university led Eils to develop a passion for ministry … I fell into ministry, rather by accident. After completing a music degree at Cardiff University I had no idea what to do next, so I took a gap year to head up the student work at my local church – which ended up lasting nearly four years! Through that time I had a growing sense of calling to ministry and went on to work for churches in Birmingham, Reading and south London – mainly in the areas of worship or youth and young adults. I also enjoyed a couple of years working for Tearfund. I am passionate about seeing the Church living out our greatest calling – to love God and to love our neighbour – and our great commission of inviting others to join us in following Jesus. It is this passion that led me to ordination, with the hope that I can play a small part in what God is doing in His world. I spent three years until summer 2015 training for ministry at St. Mellitus College in London and completing an MA in Christian Leadership.
