Safeguarding Online Training To access the training you first need to create an account on the National Church of England Safeguarding Training Portal.

To create an account first access the Portal Website.

If the above hyperlink doesn’t work copy and paste https://safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org/login/signup.php

into your browser’s search bar.

Your Portal account will be used for C0 and all future online safeguarding training and must follow a set format (below).

You can create your account from the following screen.

Your username is required to follow the pattern of firstname.lastname For example, Joe Bloggs would use the username of Joe.Bloggs If someone has already taken your username then add a number 1 to the end.

For example if a second Joe Bloggs was to sign up he would be Joe.Bloggs1.

If Joe.Bloggs1 is taken add a 2 instead and so on.

You must provide information for the 4 fields detailed above.

Your diocese and Training Institution are both Guildford/ Guildford Diocesan Course.

In ‘My Church’s Name’ provide the name of your church and the town/village it is in. If this is missing you may not be credited for completing your training.

In ‘Church Role’ you must type one of the roles listed to the right – you otherwise may not be credited for completing your training.

Technical Support

This portal is designed to be accessible to all. As long as you are able to connect to the internet through a browser (such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Firefox) you should be able to use it, no matter what type of device you own.

If you run into any issues with the National Church of England Safeguarding Training Portal the following will be able to assist.

The Kwango support team will be able to assist with any problems with the training courses. For instance if your progress through a course has been lost, get in touch with Kwango.

National Support - safeguardingelearning@churchofengland.org The national support team will be able to assist with any issues on the national training website. For instance if you are unable to register your account get in touch with the national training team.

No queries should be referred to the Diocesan Safeguarding Team.

Once you are signed into the safeguarding portal you can then access your training.

On the ‘Online Courses’ tab select C0.

The C0 course should take approximately 60 minutes to complete.

You will then reach the introduction to the course screen.

To launch the course press the ‘Enter’ button.

If you leave the course at you can pick up from where you left off. To do so press ‘Enter’ without selecting ‘Start a New Attempt.’

A new window will then pop up called kwango.

To start the course press ‘Start Course’ in the centre of the screen.

You are then taken to the course itself.

Read the instructions, check the buttons and then press ‘Next Page’ in the bottom right corner of the screen to start the training.

Within each course there are ‘Quiz’ sections.

You must complete these sections.

When ready to launch the quiz select ‘Take Quiz’.

The quizzes themselves ask a number of multiple choice questions.

Select your answer(s) and then press ‘Check Answer’ if necessary.

After you have answered all the quiz questions you will reach this screen.

To advance to the rest of the training select ‘Next Page’ in the bottom right of the screen.

Once you have reached the end of the training you can then print off your certificate.

Type your name and then click the ‘Print Certificate’ button.

Once you’ve printed your certificate press ‘Close Course’.

Your certificate will look similar to this.

To print press Control and P on your keyboard and select your printer.

Once you have received this confirmation email you have completed the course CONGRATULATIONS! Please give your printed certificate to your Parish Safeguarding Officer for their records.

Please do not send online training completions to the Diocesan Safeguarding Team as it is monitored online.
