Administrative, Academic and Teaching Matters This section deals with the most common issues involved in academic and administrative procedures. Most of these procedures are regulated by specific norms included in the Academic Regulations Handbook, which may be consulted at: sga.ua.es/en/academic-regulations/academic-regulations-and-procedures-of-the-university-of-alicante.html The Organic University Law deals with students in Title 8. Article 46 specifically regulates students’ rights and duties. From this section, it is particularly worth highlighting the following: 1. “Studying is a right and a duty for university students.” 2. “The Statutes and organisation and operating regulations (of universities) must develop the rights and duties of students as well as the mechanisms necessary to ensure that they are respected.” Specifically, the University of Alicante Statutes, in Chapter 3 of Title 4, deals with students as part of the university community, and Section 2 in particular defines their duties and rights.

Among others, students have a right to: a) Receive an adequate scientific, technical and cultural education. b) Participate in teaching management and programming, as well as in teaching and teachers’ quality control, according to the relevant procedure.

c) Receive help during their training through an effective , cross-sectional guidance and monitoring system offered by the degree, which is supplementary to their comprehensive, critical training and prepares them for working life. d) Receive an objective assessment of their academic performance and have the means to challenge this assessment where appropriate, according to the relevant procedure. e) Know in advance the syllabus of the subjects in which they want to register, as well as the examination dates. f) Academic performance assessment based on public, objective criteria for their educational and continuous training, understood as an element in the teaching-learning process.
