В этом году Беларусь и Италия отмечают 25-летие дипломатических отношений, установленных 13 апреля 1992 года. This year Italy and Belarus are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic relations established on April 13, 1992.

Relaxing the Belarusian way

The Italian spent his best day in Belarus in a small village called Malya Lyotsy in Vitebsk region. Once there was a mansion of nobleman Sventsitsky, and now the village is famous for the rock festival, where, according to Amerigo, you can listen to Belarusian musicians and find the best pancakes with jam and tasty goat milk. “The nature in Malya Lyotsy is very beautiful: an undisturbed forest, an open agricultural field and a lake. You can look at this landscape forever. My friends and I came to the village by train. And what a ride it was. This is a shocking entertainment for some, but an informative one for others. The point is to watch the passengers on the train or in couchette cars and to study their behavior. You understand the people better this way”. In Minsk Zanetti enjoys walking in parks or along the avenue, may examine graffiti on the walls of former factories in Oktyabrskaya street or wander through the local markets. “I really like Komarovka. I remember that back in childhood my family and I liked going to the market and choosing products. Unfortunately, now this tradition is lost. Although markets appear in Italian cities once a week, all the merchants there are from China. The atmosphere’s not the same as it was. At Komarovka, on the other hand… Belarusians spend a lot of time in their summer house on the weekend: they make barbecue, sing and talk about life. This also reminds me of my motherland. My family often gathers in a village in Treviso province where my grandparents lived”.

The local culinary delights

Because of his beliefs Amerigo tries to forget about Italian pasta and pizza when he arrives in new country and adapts to the local food. “At the first Russian lecture in university it was said that going to Belarus and not trying birch juice is a sin. So that’s the first thing I tried. Only then, just like everyone, I fell in love with Belarusian draniki. I also like that soups are served here the whole year round. Soups in Italy are the food of the cold season. In general I’m a sweet-tooth. When I came to Minsk, I bought sweets, chocolate and cakes. Delicious! And even now I’m going to bring sweets as a souvenir for my relatives and friends. And I’m going to come back one day”.
