WHAT? AIMS, METHODS, PROGRAMME

The training course ‘Media Sapiens: Training Course on Media Literacy for Youth Workers’ is created to meet following objectives: -to increase participants` knowledge on media literacy (key terms, concepts) with special focus on following topics: to analyze and evaluate media messages and differentiate objective information from disinformation and misinformation (fake x real news), construction of media messages, impact of media messages on public opinion and how media influences creating ‘opinion bubbles’; -to develop participants` skills on building creative campaigns by using media messages with special focus on video making; -to develop participants` competencies to implicate new gained experiences into their work with young people; -to provide the participants with needed input to become ‘digital citizens’ - actively using digital media to engage in relevant social issues; -to create a plan for media literacy activities with the main aim to transfer the lessons learned from the international to local level: -to increase knowledge on the Erasmus + Programme and to support establishment of new local, national and international initiatives addressing media literacy.

The training course will be based on nonformal education. During the training days, the participants will take part in sessions supporting their active participation and involvement such as interactive presentations, discussions, simulations and especially practical work in mix-intercultural teams.

Essential part of the training course will be also an activities supporting learning process of the participans, giving them an possibility to reflect on the development of the competences decsribed in YouthPass and meeting their learning goals.

The training day will have 4 working sessions.

Each session will have 90 minutes + evaluation activities + evening (not compulsary activities).

DAY 1: Getting to Know Each Other & Media Trends in Your Countries DAY 2: Getting to Know Media World, We as Media Users DAY 3: Exploring Media Literacy Practices DAY 4: Increasing Media Literacy of Young People: How? Why? DAY 5: Practical Work: Video as a Tool.

DAY 6: Meeting Locals + Erasmus + DAY 7: Working for the Future, Closing Up

WHO? PARTICIPANTS Youth workers, educators interested/motivated: - to develop competencies in the media literacy field (to increase theoretical knowledge of the key terms, explore practices in participating countries, develop skills needed to analyze and create media messages and become ‘digital citizens’); - to increase skills to use video as a tool; - to raise knowledge on the Erasmus + Programme; - to work in intercultural settings.

No need for prior knowledge on the subject matter is required.

-with previous experiences in the field of youth work and strongly interested in implementing their newly gained competencies into their work with young people at the local, national, and/or international levels. It means that you will be willing to organize e.g. workshop in your community after coming back for young people, to make the interview on the topic of media literacy with the person that is tackling the topic and you find interesting.

Age: preferable age group 22 - 35.

It means to arrive by 18:00 on 12.3. 2022; and to departure on 20.3. 2022. and complete the Online Application Form before 15 February 2022.

Financial Support: Training course 'Media Sapiens' is implemented with financial support from the European Commission Erasmus+ Programme.

Costs for accommodation, food, and activities will be covered from the project budget. Costs for travel will be covered until the given limit (check part TRAVEL). We recommend you purchase travel insurance at your own costs with paying attention to COVID - 19 coverage.

WHO? TEAM The key parts of the training course will be prepared and delivered by: Ilona Olehlova has been working as trainer and facilitator since 2011. She has rich experiences with delivering local, national and international activities.

WHERE? VENUE, TRAVEL We will be accommodated and work in hotel NA JIZNI, address Jizni 11, Prerov.

Link: http://www.najizni.cz/ Hotel is in walking distance from train/bus station. Just choose the direction to shopping mall Albert and in 10 - 15 minutes you will be at the place. We will send you a video showing the way before the training course.

2-3 participants will be sharing a room.

Each room has own bathroom. Towels and bed lines are provided.

Prerov has a good connection with Prague, Brno, Vienna or Warsaw, especially by trains. The current connection is still affected by the pandemic caused by COVID-19 thus we will come back to you once the selection of the participants is done to agree on the most convenient way of traveling.

TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT, INSURANCE Conditions of Travel Reimbursement: Arrival/Departure: The training course will start on 12. March in the evening thus please plan your trip so you can reach the project venue by 18:00.

And the project will be closed on 19. March in the evening so please plan your departure after midnight, you need to departure on 20. March.

Additional days are at your own expenses. You can arrive/depart maximum 2 days before/after the training course.

Participation in the activities: To be reimburse the participant need to take active part in activities.

Travel: Participants has to used the cheapest way of transportation (2nd class) and submitted original of the tickets (plane, bus, train).

Expenses for taxi cannot be part of reimbursement.

Reimbursement of travel costs will be done by bank transfer after the training course.

Please, check out the maximum amounts of reimbursement per participant, per country.

Limits for travel reimbursement: Latvia, Lithuania, France, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece 275 € Poland, Croatia 180 €

COVID - 19

AS COVID - 19 PANDEMIC Taking into consideration all the rules (for travel, in the country for entering restaurants, etc.) we have decided that in the project can participate just fully vaccinated participants.

RULES ARE CHANGING ON-

In November 2021 it means to have 14 days after completed vaccination. As proof is being recognized digital certificate EU COVID or it is equivalents.
