WHAT IS GUARDSWELL…?
Guardswell Farm, based between Kinnaird and Abernyte in Perthshire (PH149QZ), is a hilltop farm shared with those who want to step away from hustle and bustle, and throw themselves into a life a little slower, and a little cheerier. We love relaxed and fun events and weddings- packed full of family and friends, old vases filled with contorted branches, plates piled high with locally grown food and munching on midnight pizza from the wood oven.
We have accommodation to suit the modern world escapee- 3 huts and 3 houses (sleeping 30 in total)- perfect for those who fancy themselves running a micro-farm, switching off from their digital dependence and taking a deep breath of Perthshire air.
We are a small, young and excited team, who are really looking forward to welcoming new team members, and about the future of Guardswell.
WHERE DOES GUARDSWELL WANT TO GO…?
We are so bursting with ideas, and at a point where we need some brilliant new souls and brains to take it that step further. We want to have monthly suppers supporting local producers, brunches, inspiring speakers, hands on outdoor workshops and cosy craft courses.
We want to invite urban and rural school children to enjoy the farm and reconnect with nature, we want to grow more of our own food, raise more of our own livestock and focus more heavily on how we care for the soil, the farm and the flora and fauna within that.
WHAT IS THE JOB… ?
We are looking for someone to look after our lovely wedding couples on the Sunday after their wedding on the Saturday. This could either be a very relaxed monring brunch, an “invite back for lunch” hog roast, or even a bit more of a party. As well as the “take down” of their wedding and sunday event.
Its an awesome day- very relaxed compared to the wedding day- and you’re there to make sure it all goes as smoothly as possible.
WHO ARE YOU?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced freelance event manager to help run events in the Steading at Guardswell Farm on Sundays, generally post a wedding on the Saturday.
This role is to cover approximately 17 Sunday dates between April-November 2025. The successful applicant must be able to work all 17 dates.
These days require you to be present on site, managing the event as well as duty manager for the Steading.
This role requires a high level of responsibility. You will be responsible for the safety and welfare of all onsite guests, the smooth running of the venue for the event, communication with suppliers on the day, venue checks, liaising with the bar provider, safe departure of guests, adherence to our alcohol license terms and locking up of venue at the end of the day. We generally have a housekeeper in on the Sunday morning, but there would most likely be an element of sweeping or getting the space ready for the Sunday, plus a little furniture set up.
Hirers have use of the Steading from 10am-8pm, so required hours onsite would likely be 9am-9pm.
On some of these Sundays, the hirer may opt out of having any form of eventin which case the hours would potentially be less and your role would be to look after them, the take down of the event, and generally be on hand at the farm.
Previous examples of appropriate experience are essential, as well as ideally a personal alcohol license, own transport is necessary.
There is scope for this role to be extended (both in time and description) into 2026 for the right candidate, and within other areas of the business.
