Cookies are encrypted texts positioned in a browser directory. Web developers use them to perform speci몭c functions. They also assist users in navigating a website.

Cookies are found on most websites. Some sites may request you to either accept or decline them. The ques몭on of whether or not to accept cookies is one that puzzles many. It is because many people worry that accep몭ng cookies can lead to privacy infringement. Cookies are a must for a website as per the HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA regula몭ons. Some programs, such as the CSA cyber programs, ensure that private en몭몭es are protected. The programs also ensure that service providers can also manage the security of their websites well. Furthermore, organiza몭ons are required to no몭fy users of any cookies present. The no몭fica몭on is usually a pop‐up reques몭ng user to agree to the cookies. Cookies ensure that websites can use and collect a user's browsing experience and informa몭on. The cri몭cal point to note is that cookies cannot research or dig your data, informa몭on, or search your device by themselves. They only store private informa몭on through ad tracking and form informa몭on. In addi몭on, cookies ensure that browsers can recall a user's previous web browsing se몭ngs, like shopping cart items. Types of cookies Third‐party cookies The third‐party cookies are linked to one website and help track someone's general browsing ac몭vi몭es. The cookies generate informa몭on about your browsing habits, like the type of sites you visit the most. The informa몭on gathered is either sold to other companies or used by the company that owns the cookie. Tracking cookies Tracking cookies stores and tracks a user's preference. Therefore, the website can recall any changes made to your preferences. For instance, your computer may recall your language preferences. The tracking cookies can stay in your computer's hard drive for a long period. Session cookies The server uses the session cookies to store a user's ac몭vi몭es on a par몭cular page. Therefore, users can easily con몭nue from where they were on the page. Thus, you do not have to start naviga몭ng again. Cookies privacy issues Cookies are usually in plain text; thus, they are not viruses. They are not comprised of codes; thus, they do not self‐execute or be instructed to execute. Furthermore, they cannot spread to other computer networks or replicate themselves. Therefore, cookies do not act or perform any func몭ons that viruses do.
