In many installs, the commissioning process is left out. Often, the installer spends so much time on the installation that they don’t commission the system properly. This means the systems may not be fully optimised, causing the end user to contact you with issues. We all want a smooth and well-executed install that is professional. This way, we not only do a good job for our client, but word spreads, and your name may come up when a client talks to a friend or family member about needing CCTV. They will recommend you!

1. Confirm that each camera's field of view (FOV) covers the intended area, leaving no blind spots.
2. Check the image quality of each camera to ensure clear and focused images.
3. Set the correct time and date, and enable daylight saving time (DST) for the last Sunday of March and the last Sunday of October. This ensures the system will keep the correct time when clocks change for summer and winter.
4. Enable network time protocol (NTP). If the system is connected to the internet, it will synchronise with the server, always keeping the correct time.
5. Test the recording by reviewing recorded footage to ensure playback is smooth.
6. If you have set up any AI or smart events, ensure alerts are configured correctly and verify that alerts are received promptly on each device.
7. Set the correct recording parameters, including resolution and frame rate, for the retention time your customer needs. This will prevent them from calling to ask why they only have two weeks of recording instead of the desired 30 days.

8. Set up user accounts and permissions to ensure that only authorised personnel can make changes to the system settings.
9. Install and configure any required software, such as VMS and mobile apps.
10. Conduct a walkthrough with the client to demonstrate the system's functionality and address any questions they may have.
