MEET YOUR COMMISSIONER SCOTT SIEFFERT District 8

Scott William Sieffert was elected to his first term as a Grand Traverse County Commissioner on November 8, 2022. Scott left Traverse City for adventure and to pursue his education in 1993 after growing up in Traverse City and graduating from Traverse City High School in 1989. Scott received an Associate Degree in Arts and an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Northern Michigan College in 1992.

After the redistricting became apparent in 2022, while out with his friends and family, Scott looked around at his family, friends, and fellow neighbors and thought to himself, “these people are largely unrepresented ” Therefore, Scott decided to run to change that As a Commissioner, Scott hopes to represent “the little guy, ” his constituents, as well as reduce taxes and slow the spread of government Scott is currently assigned to the Landbank Brownfield Redevelopment and is looking forward to the potential to be added to other boards throughout the year Aside from his full-time employment at Dean Transportation, he currently volunteers as an appointee on the Kingsley Downtown Development Authority as well as the Kingsley Brownfield Redevelopment Authority He has also a Board of Trustees member for Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City
