Exercise Pitfalls: How “NOT TO” Conduct an Exercise Mark Carroll, Boston University

For the organization, it's an exercise, a tabletop exercise that involves key employees in a simulated recovery event. For you, it's a test, a situation where your capacity to plan and execute as you navigate a crisis is assessed. While "How To" conference sessions are the standard and frequently receive attention, they cover the many and different routes to workout achievement. The importance of "How Not To" is even greater because there are some strategies, courses of action, choices, and outcomes that all but guarantee a fruitless exercise and your personal failure. The "Don't do this" components of an exercise will be guided through in this session, giving you the comfort and confidence to steer your own course to exercise success by simply avoiding these traps.

GTBACP 2023 Holiday Fundraiser

Each year our chapter selects a charity to sponsor for the upcoming holidays. Last year we raised an impressive $1000 in donations! Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our members, we successfully matched the full amount, netting $2000 in funds raised for members directly impacted by Hurricane Ian and the SWFL Emergency Relief Fund.

This year we have partnered with the American Red Cross whose mission is to meet the immediate needs of individuals, families, and communities impacted by disasters.

2023 has been a historic year for disasters, surpassing the previous record set in 2020, and there are still several months yet to go! To date, there have been a total of 23 major disasters that have occurred in 2023, including 18 weather events, two flooding events, one hurricane event (Idalia), one wildfire event (Lahaina), and one winter storm event each costing a billion-dollars or more. Many people struggle to get back on their feet and desperately need help rebuilding their homes and lives.

The Board is excited to announce that we will once again offer a 100% Chapter match, up to $500 total, for any donations made through the GTBACP/Red Cross portal, or at in-person events. The fundraiser will run through November 15 (the date of our Chapter Holiday Luncheon).

Please consider helping people impacted by disasters, big and small, by making a donation today!
