The Swan family resides at 195 Sycamore Drive, G-2, Athens, Georgia 30601. John D. Taylor, Jr., IM, has been named Vice President and Controller of Sellers Corporation in Memphis, Tennessee. Victor C. Theiling, CerE, received the M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School on June 17, 1971. David W. Wakefield, IM, has joined the firm of H. Clay Moore & Associates, Inc., in Atlanta, Georgia as a Sales* Engineer. Hugh H. Walker, ME, has been assigned to a one to two year assignment as Construction Superintendent for one unit in Union Carbide's major petrochemical expansion now underway at Ponce, Puerto Rico. Wallace E. White, IM, has been appointed Secretary-Director of the investment firm of "The Omnibus Corporation." Born to Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Mack Williams, III, EE, a son, Thomas Mack, IV, on August 8, 1971. Mr. Williams is employed as design engineer with Scientific-Atlanta and is an electronics instructor at DeKalb Technical School. The Williams family resides at 4411-D North Shallowford Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30341. Michael K. Wolensky, ME, received the J.D. degree from the American University on January 16, 1971.

basketball coach at Lookout Valley High School. Thomds I. Carlisle, IM, died June 1(1, 1971, as a result of a dynamite truck explosion near Bremen, Georgia. Mr. Carlisle, a former football star at Tech, stopped to investigate an accident when the truck exploded, killing several people. Mrs. Carlisle and son, Thomas, Jr., reside at 1412 Ida Street, Apartment #15, Tupelo, Mississippi. Philip C. Cook, IM, received the J.D. degree from Harvard Law School on June 17, 1971. Ronald S. Desilets, AE, has joined The Trane Company's Commercial Air Conditioning Division sales office at Denver, Colorado. Ralph P. Fiesta, ChE, has been named a process engineer for the engineering department of Calgon Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Capt. James M. Gilbert, III (USAF). EE, was killed in a plane accident over the South Pacific on June 13, 1971. His parents reside at 1979 Longwood Drive, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806. Martin E. Gurian, MS, has been chosen as an Outstanding Young Man of America for 1971. He is a market coordinator in New York for a new product development at Cone Mills. Richard A. Kleine, CE, received the J.D. degree cum laude from the Ohio State University. He has accepted an offer to associate with the law firm of Howrey, Simon, Baker and Murchison in Washington, D.C. Hugh Michael Lowry, IE, has been promoted to Assistant Director of Operations at National Linen Service. Lt. Albert Mangin (USN), Phys, has received orders to report to Tech's NROTC unit as an instructor. He will begin graduate school in Nuclear Engineering in the spring of 1972. Joel M. Merren, IM, received the J.D. degree from Harvard Law School on June 17, 1971. Paul Wain Painter. Jr., IM, was married to the former Judith Ann Babine on August 28th at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Norfolk, Virginia. The couple is living in Athens, Georgia where Mr. Painter is attending the

University of Georgia School of Law. Bill R. Poland, ME, was graduated from the Stanford Graduate School of Business on June 13, 1971. He will be employed with the Caldwell Banker Company of San Francisco as a Commercial Real Estale Broker. Joseph W. Rogers, Jr., IM, received the M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School on June 17, 1971. Thomas F. Rogers, EE, is engaged to Catherine Ellis Combs of Dublin, Georgia. Mr. Rogers is employed by Georgia Power Company. Born to Mr. & Mrs. George V. Rouse, IE, a daughter, Margaret Ann, on June 8, 1971. Mr. Rouse is presently employed by Harris Semiconductor of Melbourne, Florida. The Rouse family resides at 116 East Avenue A, Melbourne, Florida. Charles M. Florida. Born to Mr. &Mrs. David W. Shonerd, IE, a son, Bradford Wayne, on November 16, 1971. The Shonerd family resides at 3310 Woodburn Village Drive, Annandale, Virginia. Born to Mr. 8-Mrs. H. Wayne Smith, IE, a son Bradford Wayne, on November 11, 1971. Mr. Smith is an Area Engineer with DuPont in Old Hickory, Tennessee. Sidney F. Strauss, IM, received the M.B.A. degree from the American University on December 23, 1970. Born to Mr. & Mrs. David E. Vaughn, ChE, a daughter, Cassia Christine, on March 9, 1971. Mr. Vaughn is a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and is presently on the USS F'.D. Roosevelt in the Mediterranean. Dr. PhilJip J. Wakeiyn, MS, has been named Research Associate of the Texas Tech University Textile Research Center, Lubbock, Texas. Born to Mr. & Mrs. Michael D. Wallace, ChE, a daughter, Caroline Marie, on May 16, 1971. Mr. Wallace is employed by Celanese Plastics Company in Greer, South Carolina. The Wallace family resides at Route 4, Box 22 A, Greer, South Carolina. Born to Mr. & Mrs. John H. Williams, EE, a Daughter, Kathryn I.yn, on July 5, 1971. The Williams family resides at 3264 Delia Court, Decatur, Georgia 30033. Mark S. Witten, CE, was married to the former Myra Ann Bernslein in New Orleans on March 7, 197 1.
