ing of the Philadelphia Georgia Tech Club was held on June 15 at the Engineers Club. Thirty-six alumni, including a few wives, were present. Dean George Griffin, the featured speaker, regaled the group with his "Pales of Tech and Tech men.'' Officers elected for the coming year were: Richard J. Fox, president; and Raymond E. Hicks, secretary-treasurer.

lanta-Fulton County Planning Board. Vassar Woolley was killed in a plane crash in Paris, France, June 3. He had been on a tour of Europe with members of the Atlanta Art Association. Mr. Woolley was chairman of the Seydel-Woolley, Inc. in Atlanta.

William S. Lovell has been re-elected councilman for his 15th term for the town of Savannah Beach, Georgia.

I « Q Walter K. Krauth died May 30 in an Z O Atlanta hospital. He was a scaffolding engineer for Safway Steel Scaffolds Company. His widow lives at 521 West Lyle Avenue, College Park, Georgia.

7 j Q W. W. McCrea retired April 30, 1 3 1962 from Southern Bell after 40 years of service. At the time of his retirement he was staff building engineer in Operations-West, Atlanta, Georgia. He lives at 2732 Memorial Drive, S.E., Atlanta, Georgia. 1M William C. McBride died May 23 at L\ his home, 109 Sybil Lane, Marietta, Georgia. He is survived by his widow.

California, died December 29, 1961. /•". Hammond Hardin, ME, of Sea Island, Georgia, died in March of 1962. He is survived by his widow. Ray Cowles Werner, ChE, died June 8 in an Atlanta hospital. He was associated with Travelers Insurance Company at the time of his death. His widow lives at 758 Wildwood Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia. Redding Sims, EE, of New Orleans, Louisiana, died June 6 while touring England. Formerly of Washington, Georgia and Atlanta, he had lived in New Orleans for a number of years. Prior to his retirement, he owned the National Blowpipe Company. He is survived by his widow.

i o n Paul G. Barnett was killed June 3 Liin a plane crash in Paris, France. He had been touring Europe with members of the Atlanta Art Association. Mr. Barnett had been an engineer with Southern Bell for 30 years. His widow lives at 3456 Piedmont Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia. W. L. Kling, CE, retired April 1 from Combustion Engineering, Inc. in Chattanooga. He was in the Nuclear Engineering Department. Mr. Kling now lives at Rock Springs, Georgia. Paul O. Strihling, Jr., TE, died in April, 1962. His widow lives in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Mitchell, TE, Vice President of the Draper Corporation in Atlanta, has been elected a director of Rich's, Inc. Francis E. Whitelaw died April 9, 1962.

Claude E. Anderson, Sr., EE, died in May of a heart attack. He is survived by his widow, who lives at 920 East Currahee Street, Toccoa, Georgia. Married: C. Pomeroy Goree, ME, to Mrs. Frank M. Stevens, June 1, They live at 3660 Peachtree Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia. John Wilson Spears, Sr., EE, died May 25 at his home, 3518 Roswell Road, N.W., Atlanta, Georgia. He was a retired manufacturers representative. Mr. Spears is survived by his widow who lives at the above address. >*

David Clarence Jones, Jr., ME, died May 19 in an Atlanta hospital. He was retired manager of the insurance department of Georgia Power Company. Mr. Jones' widow lives at 1367 Springdale Road, N.E.. Atlanta, Georgia. William Parker Stevens, of Macon, Georgia, died in May, 1962. John Monteith Flanigen has been appointed by the City Council of the City of Atlanta as a member of the AtJULY, 1962

Z O Chemical Sciences & Materials Division at the Georgia Tech Engineering Experiment Station, will serve as president, Georgia Academy of Sciences for the coming year. Charles Madison Griffin, TE, died April 13. He had been associated with the Georgia Tech Athletic Association for 26 years, and was president of Acme Car & Truck Rental and of Buford Motors at the time of his death. Mr. Griffin's widow lives at 197 Brighton Road, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia. Alonzo C. Jackson, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died April 4, 1962. He was associated with Combustion Engineering.

Conely, CE, retired as Lieutenant Colonel from the Air Force at Carswell Air Force Base, Texas last October after more than 31 years' active duty. At the time of his retirement he was Deputy Base Commander for Civil Engineering at Carswell. He is now employed in a civilian capacity as Chief of the Facilities Section, Directorate of Civil Engineering, Headquarters, 2nd Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. David Daniel Smiley died April 25 of a heart attack. He was superintendent of Salisbury and Cone Mills prior to his retirement a year ago. ' 0 0 Frederick W. Bull, his wife and two 00 daughters were killed in a plane crash June 3 in Paris, France. They had been touring Europe with members of the Atlanta Art Association. Mr. Bull was a partner in the consulting engineering firm of Newcomb & Boyd in Atlanta. There are no immediate survivors. William F. Mitchell, ME, has been awarded Chemical Market Research Association's award for 1962. Accompanying this award is a $1,000 scholarship to be given to the school of the recipient's choice. Mr. Mitchell will contribute this to Georgia Tech. He is vice president of General Mills, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota. »Q J George M. Chastain, Jr., ChE, has v T been promoted to manager of the Hercules Powder Company plant at Lake Charles, Louisiana. He lives at 813 Henrietta Lane. Lawrence Wood Robert, III died lune 10 at his home, 248 West Andrews Drive, N.W., Atlanta, Georgia. He was national sales representative for the Coca-Cola Company. Mr. Robert is survived by his son, L. W. Robert, IV; daughter, Mrs. Helen Schendl, and father, Mr. L. W. Robert, Jr. • Q E Thomas G. Little was killed in a 0%3 plane crash in Paris, France, June 3. He had been on a European tour sponsored by the Atlanta Art Association. His wife was also killed in the crash. Mr. Little headed his own architectural firm in Atlanta.
