Green Living at Georgia Southern

Georgia Southern’s Center for Sustainability is funded primarily by a $10 student sustainability fee on the Statesboro Campus and hosts a variety of programs and events throughout the year. Our primary mission is to increase education and engagement in sustainability issues both on campus and in the community. We want to make sure that students know about Georgia Southern’s “True Blue and Green Too” culture of sustainability right from the start, so we encourage you to get involved in big and small ways this spring! To the right are a few ways to get involved!

1

Compete in Green Games 2019 to win a pizza and wings party for your residence hall. Check out our back cover for more information!

2

Join Georgia Southern’s team for the Drawdown EcoChallenge - a 21-day engagement program focused on carbon reduction which will take place April 3-24. Participants will track and share their progress online and earn points for taking action (all campuses). Come on out to our kickoff event 11a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Union Rotunda on April 3 (Statesboro).

3

Recycle in your residence hall and on campus! Recycling dumpsters are located at every residence hall. Please recycle ONLY accepted materials, and remove them from any bags when you drop them in (Statesboro and Armstrong).

4

Join the Eco Reps for their spring programs! They are focusing on sustainable energy, transportation, food, and climate change and will be hosting activities in the residence halls about these topics this spring. Check the CfS website for updates on times and locations (Statesboro).
