Partnership with ‘Procurement Hotelierverein

Gstaad-Saanenland’ to prevent food waste.

Obtained the Swisstainable certificate.

Switzerland’s FIRST luxury hotel purchasing sustainable aviation fuel.

The hotel is heated with renewable energy produced from locally sourced wood. Aiming to reduce energy consumption with every renovation.

All employees are trained in sustainable actions upon arrival and frequently refreshed on a regular basis.

Partnership

Partnership with car companies to ensure our company fleet is primarily electric/hybrid vehicles. Implementation of a more sustainable “Building Management System”.

Selection of our journey since 1968

In 2008 we were a major partner in the wood chip district heating

Hotel owner is on the board of a company developing alpine solar parks

Invested over CHF 120'000 into planting 1'500 new trees for reforestation to mark the 100th anniversary of the hotel

Switched to LED concepts - resulting in up to 80% energy savings

One of the first to install charging stations for electric cars in Gstaad

Continuously switching to triple glazed windows to minimize heat loss

90-days biodegradable straws, made from potato, tapioca and rice

We teamed up with a company dedicated to recycle soap left overs

From 2024 we have...

Reduced our total Energy by 27.05%

Decrease the use of Hazardous substances by 38.29%

Reduced our total emissions by 25.75%

Our average emissions per guest night has reduced by 15.14%

We have reduced the amount of water flowing while maintaining the pressure to 10L per minute for showers and 5L per minute for taps and bidet.

All of our Purchasing is done in bulk

All employees are trained in waste disposal

No plastic bottles in any of our rooms & suites limit the number of single use plastic available on property

Through our waste management initiatives we have reduced our single use plastics by 13.64%, Hazardous substances by 38.29%.

FUTURE ACTIONS

Spring 2025 - technical advancement:

Updating windows in our restaurant area from double to triple glazing while renovating an entire venue

Implementation of re-usage of warm water originating from “Freezer Systems” to heat water for our pools

While renovating 3 rooms, we will also switch to triple glazing

Spring/Summer 2025 - maintain happiness of our staff:

Fine-tune the culinary experience offered by our staff canteen

Establish training for leadership positions on correct usage of “Staff Management System” (Hours)

We plan to refurbish 23 of our staff rooms to constantly improve quality of living

Summer/Autumn 2025 - technical advancement:

Reconfiguring energy peak monitoring system

Replacing remaining old light sources to LED

Implementation of a centralized control panel for ventilations

Enhance electric charging stations at the hotel

Winter 2025/2026 - enhancing CO2 footprint:

Reducing paper usage in the hotel, and converting all stationary paper into “recycled paper ”
