Summer Fun Guide 2026

Page 1

We’re so excited to welcome you to a summer filled with discovery, laughter and unforgettable memories. At camp, every trail walked, song sung and friendship formed is part of something bigger—an adventure that helps each camper grow in confidence, curiosity, and connection.

This summer, camp adventures await at all four of our beautiful properties across Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines (GS–NCCP). Whether you’re reaching new heights on the Alpine Tower at Camp Mary Atkinson, paddling across Kerr Lake at Camp Graham, building friendships along the Pamlico River at Camp Hardee, or embracing the rustic charm of Camp Mu-Sha-Ni, each camp offers its own unique setting for growth, exploration, and fun.

But camp is more than just fun—it’s a place where girls grow into leaders. Through challenges, teamwork and time spent in nature, campers build resilience, independence and a strong sense of self in a supportive, empowering environment.

Whether it’s your first summer or your fifth, we can’t wait to see how your adventure unfolds. This is where adventure grows—and where ordinary days turn into something truly magical.

See you at camp!

Marnie Stewart

Girl Scout Camp is for Every Camper!

Girl Scout Camp is all about discovery, friendship, and adventure! Whether you’re eager to try archery, swimming, canoeing, hiking, outdoor cooking, horseback riding, or all the above, you’ll find endless opportunities to create lasting memories and have an unforgettable summer at Girl Scout Camp.

Our Commitment to High Standards

Camp Graham, Camp Hardee and Camp Mary Atkinson are proud to hold accreditation from the American Camp Association (ACA), a national organization recognized for its rigorous standards in camper health, safety, and program quality. In addition to meeting all federal, state, and local health and safety requirements, our camps adhere to the high standards set by Girl Scouts of the USA.

Pricing

Early bird and regular session pricing listed in this guide is for members of GS-NCCP. Girl Scout members outside GS-NCCP: add $75 per session to the fees listed in this guide. Non-Girl Scout participants: add $120 per session in addition to the listed fees.

A Note About Safety

At GS-NCCP, the emotional and physical safety of our campers is always our top priority. Each program is designed to encourage campers to take healthy risks in a safe, nurturing environment. Our dedicated camp staff are selected for their energy, maturity, and ability to serve as positive role models. All staff receive comprehensive training prior to camp.

Leadership in the Outdoors

At Girl Scout Camp, campers dive into a whole new world of activities—swimming freely in lakes, working together to steer a canoe, practicing making the perfect shot in archery, exploring nature during an afternoon hike, learning to cook over a fire and cheering on friends as they challenge themselves to try new things. Campers also strengthen their skills and grow their passion for environmental stewardship through our outdoor leadership programming.

What’s in Store at Camp

Every day at Girl Scout Camp is a brand-new adventure. No two days are ever the same! Each week features a unique camp theme that inspires activities, crafts, evening events and even camp décor. While the theme sets the tone, all campers can look forward to our traditional camp favorites, including boating, swimming, archery and so much more.

At Girl Scouts, we prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our members, and we strive to ensure that each member’s experience is inclusive and affirming. Our events for the upcoming summer will be planned based on current health and safety protocols, as guided by the Governor’s office, CDC, and other health agencies. We can’t wait to welcome you to camp this year, celebrating the diversity and strengths that each one of you brings to our community!

Q: My camper is not a Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines member but would like to attend camp. Can they attend? Are there any additional fees?

A: Girl Scout camps are open to all campers. An additional fee of $75 for camp is applied to each session for non-GSNCCP Girl Scout Members, and for non-Girl Scout members; this fee is $120 per session.

Q: Where will campers sleep?

A: Campers are grouped in units. Depending on the camp and their program choice, campers may sleep in cabins or platform tents. Each unit has trained counselors housed in separate quarters within the living unit but close enough to supervise campers. In select sessions at each camp, counselors sleep in the same cabin as campers. Unless noted in session charts, lodging assignments will not be given prior to check-in at camp.

Q: Who are the camp staff?

A: Camp staff are enthusiastic, talented and caring individuals. They are selected based on maturity, program experience, and genuine passion for working with campers.

Q: What type of training does camp staff receive?

A: Before camp begins, staff attend an intensive on-site training, which includes activity programming, outdoor skills, songs, games, first aid and mental health safety, emergency procedures, communications, program age level characteristics, working through homesickness, and more.

Q: My child has specific needs. Can they attend camp?

A: Each year, our camp welcomes many campers with unique needs. Participants should be able to thrive in a 6:1 camper-to-adult ratio and must be capable of showering independently. These needs can vary widely, encompassing physical, medical, developmental, dietary, behavioral, or communicative challenges. We aim to accommodate all youth who wish to join us, prioritizing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. However, we reserve the right to assess each camper’s needs and our capacity to support them in the camp environment, along with other relevant considerations. For any questions, contact the camp director at 800-284-4475.

Q: My camper has specific dietary needs or restrictions. How are menus managed at camp?

A: Menus are planned with the general camp population and economy of associated costs in mind. We will try to provide for special dietary needs within the scope of our regular menus. Q: What happens if my camper has a difficult time adjusting to camp?

A: Camp staff will do everything possible to help campers adjust to camp life. Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines understands the value of camp for our Girl Scout families. That’s why we’re dedicated to offering these important programs at affordable rates. Camp fees cover most council direct costs such as food, program supplies, supplementary health and accident insurance, and camp counselor salaries. Indirect costs such as planning and administering the program, registration, and property maintenance are costs subsidized by the council. Did you know that cookies help to make summer camp happen? Proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Program also help our council provide high-quality summer experiences for all youth.

Even with many camp costs subsidized by our council, we know that camp can be out of reach for some families. That’s where camperships come in.

Camperships

Financial assistance in the form of camperships enables all campers to enjoy the Girl Scout camp experience. Camperships are made possible thanks to our many generous donors and are available to currently registered Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines members who need assistance paying for the deposit or the total cost of camp.

For more information about camperships or to apply online, please visit gsnccp.org/campaid. You can also apply by mail, please request a form at helpdesk@ nccoastalpines.org. Applications are due by March 1.

Please note: Families may apply for a campership (financial assistance) for GS-NCCP members. The award amount varies and generally does not exceed $350 per member. Awards are limited to one session per Girl Scout member.

Don’t

forget you can pay for camp using Cookie Dough earned through the Girl Scout Cookie Program!

Check out our deposit assistance form found at gsnccp. org/forms. This form will open on December 9; once submitted your camper’s registration will be completed by our Customer Care team within three (3) business days. Questions? - contact helpdesk@nccoastalpines. org.

We want every Girl Scout to feel prepared and ready for a great camp experience. To help make this happen we are happy to provide assistance with your needed gear including but not limited to camp bedding, water shoes, bathing suits, and more. Additional details will be available in the 2026 Summer Camp Confirmation packet. If you have questions, reach out to outdoorprogram@nccoastalpines.org.

Sue “Skipper” Csorba Award

The Sue “Skipper” Csorba Award is a campership honoring a Girl Scout alumna from Annapolis, Maryland. As a troop leader, Sue Csorba was committed to giving youth outdoor experiences and determined to have an inclusive troop of youth from all races, incomes, and family situations. With Sue Csorba’s vision and passion in mind, the fund provides a limited number of camperships each summer. Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines will provide these awards based on need and will consider a variety of factors, including financial, family, and home situation. Priority is given to firsttime campers.

All campership applications are due to the Raleigh Service Center by March 1. Recipients will be notified of their award by March 31.

Help Others Discover Where Adventure Grows!

When we say your camper will discover Where Adventure Grows at Girl Scout Camp, we’re not looking at things through rose-colored glasses; we can prove it. Past camp parents have reported that after just one week at camp, their camper returned more confident, adventurous, and independent. Campers shared that camp was a place where they belonged. They were able to overcome fears and make new friends.

At Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, we want to ensure all youth can grow in courage, confidence, and character as they discover their dreams and possibilities at camp. The benefits of camp are well-documented. Studies have found that camp increases independence, confidence, and leadership and provides mental health benefits from being outdoors. All kids deserve the opportunities camp provides, and you can help.

Generous donors like you, as well as our partnership with Anonymous Trust, help to ensure that camp is possible for any Girl Scout who wants to go, no matter what curveball life has thrown at their family. Roughly 250 Girl Scouts receive camperships each year. You can give one of them a chance to thrive this summer by making a donation today. Visit gsnccp.org/invest to give online.

Camp Upgrades

Girl Scouts will notice and enjoy some changes when they visit camp this summer. A special thank you to our supporters who helped make improvements to our camp properties. Because of their investment in Girl Scout camp, we have a safe, supportive space where youth can gather for years to come.
