GSNC 2023 Annual Report

Make new friends!

Annual Report

One of the most popular Girl Scout songs is “Make New Friends.” The song originated early in the Girl Scout movement and is one of the first things a new Daisy Girl Scout learns as she joins Girl Scouts. Making friends is one of the best parts of Girl Scouts. It benefits not only our Girl Scouts but also helps our organization to thrive. We can serve about 12,000 Girl Scouts in Nassau County with the support of our families, volunteers, community partners, and corporations. To stay meaningful and accessible, we need to support and celebrate these relationships. Throughout our work this year, we continued to rebuild from the pandemic, like most non-profit organizations. We turned our focus to building community partners and growing our membership. In 2023, we also engaged in a robust strategic planning process. Our results for the next three years include the following:

• VISIBILITY: Be recognized as a visible and vocal leader in the region for the empowerment of girls.

• ACCESS: Grow new membership and provide equitable access to relevant programming, engagement, and resources so that all girls feel a sense of belonging in their troop and GSNC.

• COMMUNITY: Cultivate a positive experience for girls through the support of a growing network of diverse volunteers who foster their growth and development.

• REVENUE: Grow revenue to ensure expanded high-quality programming to an increasingly diverse population of girls. We are looking forward to building stronger relationships with all our stakeholders to ensure that, by 2027, we have achieved these results.

A favorite quote from our founder, Juliette Gordon Low, is as follows: “Success is not measured by what you gather, but by what you give.” At Girl Scouts of Nassau County, we appreciate your investment in Girl Scouts. Your continued support will help us thrive and is critical for us to stay focused on our mission to make the world a better place.
