We are better together! Annual Report 20 22
was a very exciting year for Girl Scouts of Nassau County, as we emerge from the pandemic into the next phase of our new normal, Girl Scouts of Nassau County has pivoted, expanded, and thrived. We have re-established ourselves not only with our membership, but also within our community. Juliette Gordon Low once said “My purpose [is] to go on with my heart and soul, devoting all my energies to Girl Scouts, and heart and hand with them, we will make our lives and the lives of the future girls happy, healthy, and holy.”
Girl Scouts of Nassau County continues to carry out Juliette Gordon Low’s vision for girls in Nassau County through the girl leadership experience and evolving our programing to meet them where they are currently.
Throughout our work this year, we are influencing the next generation of changemakers and providing them access to what is important to them. Our work has been recognized not only in Nassau County but also outside of Nassau County. It led to our council receiving one of our largest donations to date and to being identified as an organization working to advance opportunities for our communities. This gift included a careful analysis of criteria specific to their size, geography, and mission for indicators of high potential for sustained positive impact, including stable finances, multi-year track records, measurement and evidence of outcomes, and experienced leadership representative of the community served. This donation will go a long way in expanding access to Girl Scouts and shaping the lives of all girls in Nassau County. The donation was a signal that we are headed in the right direction and should keep going.
As our membership continues to rebound and grow, we continue to strengthen our existing partnerships and build new community ties and partnerships. It’s through these partnerships that girls are able to explore their interests in anything they are curious about, and it is reflected in the badges and higher awards projects they are completing.
We could not do the work we are doing without our amazing volunteers; they are committed to our mission and working with our girls. We also honor and acknowledge the work of all the volunteers and champions who left us too soon. Their impact is lasting and seen through the work that is being done and by those who were influenced by it.
When you invest in girls, you change the world. As Girl Scouts continues to grow and support girls, your continued support is crucial to help them develop their potential and grow our movement forward.
