The Gulf South LGBTQ+ Chamber serves as the leading LGBTQ+ business alliance in the New Orleans and Gulf South region, and we welcome members from throughout Louisiana, and Mississippi. We are a network of LGBTQ+ and allied business owners, corporate partners, and community leaders joined in support of business development and equality. Our shared goal is to create a society where individuals and businesses have equal rights, representation, and opportunities.
As an official affiliate chapter of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), the Gulf South LGBTQ+ Chamber provides each member with the opportunity to become a Certified LGBT Business Enterprise, a designation which engages a diversified supply chain network and resources throughout corporate America.
Certified LGBTQ-owned businesses report positive impacts from their certification, but our Chamber offers more than just certification. We aim to serve as a marketing partner for our members, fostering a sense of community and providing a network of opportunities. Our goal is to help members connect, support one another, and grow their businesses within the LGBTQ community.
Gulf South LGBTQ+ Chamber members encompass a vast range of specialties and industries, but we are all united in our common goal of supporting LGBTQ+ business, economic development, and commercial opportunity.
We invite you to join us in showcasing the passion, creativity, and leadership that already exists within our community—and in doing so, paving the way for continued growth and prosperity for all.

New Orleans is famous for Mardi Gras, Bourbon Street, and its haunted history, but it’s also home to a vibrant and inclusive LGBTQ+ culture. The city has long been a queer sanctuary in the South, offering a robust and diverse community where people of all backgrounds come together to express themselves, have fun, and foster unity and support.
There’s plenty for LGBTQ+ residents and visitors to explore—not just in New Orleans, but throughout the Gulf Coast. Every June, New Orleans Pride organizes a monthlong celebration packed with parades, parties, community events, and volunteer opportunities. The highlight is Pridefest, a street festival filled with food, drinks, vendors, live entertainment, and more, all in the spirit of LGBTQ+ inclusivity and togetherness.
Black Pride also plays a significant role in New Orleans, celebrating the influence and leadership of Black people within the queer community. Their events during Pride month and throughout the year uplift and honor every aspect of Black queer identities.
Beyond the city, the Gulf Coast offers even more for the LGBTQ+ community. Since its founding in 2022, Queer Northshore has hosted hundreds of events, including the region’s first Pride parade, which brought together over 600 people. Baton Rouge Pride draws thousands to the state’s Capitol each year and works to support LGBTQ+
businesses, unhoused youth, and parents. Mississippi’s Gulf Coast Association of Pride also organizes a range of events and resources for the local community.
Southern queer culture is not just thriving— it’s growing. Across Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, the LGBTQ+ community is creating spaces where people feel welcomed and supported, no matter who they are or where they come from. This inclusivity is one reason why New Orleans consistently ranks as a top LGBTQ+ travel destination, with accolades from GayCities for Most Welcoming City and Best Emerging Gayborhoods.
With the support of organizations like the Gulf South LGBTQ+ Chamber and New Orleans LGBT Hospitality Alliance, the region is reaching new levels of inclusivity and prosperity. When you visit the Gulf South, you’re not just invited to enjoy the nightlife and festivities—you’re invited to be yourself and show the world who you want to become.

It’s easy to look around and see the influence of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, innovators, and artists on our collective culture. But how does our community actually impact the economy?
Thanks to a first-of-its-kind report by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), along with expert research conducted by Witeck Communications, we have our first snapshot of how our dollars contribute to economic prosperity in America. The report sets an analytical precedent that could eventually lead to a more regional understanding of how LGBTQ-owned and operated businesses stimulate their respective economies.
The NGLCC’s research included more than 900 LGBT Business Enterprises (LGBTBEs) to determine average revenue, geographical concentration, industry distribution, and lifetime of NGLCC certified businesses, among other factors. The results demonstrate that talent from LGBTBEs is present in every major industry sector in the nation
That means that almost any goods or services you might need can be performed by an LGBTBE, making your dollars—and where you spend them—an even stronger tool in fostering an inclusive, diverse business climate.

Tell us about your organization. What’s your mission?
The New Orleans Pride Center is a welcome, inclusive hub for local and regional LGBTQ2IA+ individuals and communities where all feel safe to celebrate their authentic selves and thrive through connection. We host monthly programs that are free and open to all including our community meetups, intergenerational game nights, youth mental wellness drop-in groups, safer schools educators circles, and more.
It’s so important for us to have safe spaces where our communities can gather, not just in safety but in joy! We are dedicated not just to creating that space, but to making sure the most vulnerable members of our community have access to the resources they need to not just survive, but to thrive in the Gulf South.
Why is it important for your organization to be a member of the Gulf South LGBTQ Chamber?
The Gulf South LGBTQ Chamber has been a wonderful ally from the very beginning as we worked to get the Pride Center opened. They have provided a wealth of wonderful community connections and helped us activate the local business community in support of our work. We’re excited to be partnering with them for years to come!
Are there any upcoming programs or initiatives you’re particularly excited about?
We are working to create the first LGBTQ+ youth radio and podcast training program in partnership with WHIV, a New Orleans-based social justice and human rights radio station. Youth will create and share their own radio shows as part of the program, amplifying their voices and stories at a critical moment as anti-LGBTQ+ laws targeting students go into effect. Our long-term vision is to buy a building in New Orleans so that our communities have a permanent space where we can gather in safety and celebration. community meetup), and Drag Bingo. We also host game nights, hikes, tubing trips and more.
Is there anything else you’d like our readers and membership to know?
Tell us about your organization. What’s your mission?
Queer Northshore is a nonprofit promoting LGBTQ+ visibility, community, and acceptance in Louisiana’s Northshore Region (St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and beyond). We have 2,700 members and launched the PRIDE Northshore this past June (2024), featuring a PRIDE Parade with over 600 participants and 2,000 attendees.
What makes the Gulf South the right place to do this work?
Outside of New Orleans, finding an LGTBTQ+ community can be very difficult in Southeast Louisiana. We help make LGBTQ+ people visible to each other and visible to the greater community.
Why is it important for your organization to be a member of the Gulf South LGBTQ Chamber?
Since LGBTQ+ Visibility is the primary focus of our mission, working with the Gulf South LGTBQ+ Chamber gives us an opportunity to amplify our visibility among the community and among other businesses we look to partner with.
Are there any upcoming programs or initiatives you’re particularly excited about?
We host monthly events, including a Peer Support Group, Two Beer Queers (our monthly community meetup), and Drag Bingo. We also host game nights, hikes, tubing trips and more.
Is there anything else you’d like our readers and membership to know?
Despite being tied to one of the most conservative parishes in the state, the Northshore is home to a rich, beautiful LGBTQ+ community. Come visit us!
How can the public get involved in advancing your mission?
LGBTQ+ people and allies can contribute by being an active part of our community. A great place to start is our Facebook group. In addition, we are always in need of volunteers, and as a volunteer directed nonprofit, we are always appreciative of donations.
Tell us about yourself. How did you get started on your career path?
I'm a native of New Orleans and was an owner of Planet Beach French Quarter for 11 years before expanding my business to the Gulf Coast in Mississippi. I currently own multiple Marble Slab and Great American Cookie franchises along the Gulf Coast, as well as Sipps Bar. I was the 2023 Gay Pride King for the Gulf Coast Association of Pride and am the current Southern Decadence Grand Marshall XLVIII.
Tell us about your business.
Sipps is located in Gulfport, MS, now going on 9 years of business. It is one of two gay bars located here on the coast and one of three in the state. We host multiple functions throughout the year such as Pride, pageants, karaoke, and drag bingo throughout the week. We are located an hour outside of New Orleans and Mobile, so we cater to not only our Gulf Coast residence, but also to our neighboring states. Many organizations have started at Sipps, such as Equality Fest and Order of Dionysus Mardi Gras Krewe.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Providing a safe space for the LGBTQ+ Community here on the Gulf Coast.
Why is it important for you and your business to be a part of the Gulf South LGBTQ+ Chamber?
Its important to have the outlet to be able to network with other LGBTQ + businesses and create partnerships to help grow and identify needs in my businesses on a daily basis.
What else are you passionate about?
I love to travel. Family is very important to me. Being involved in my nephew’s day to day life as well as playing my role in my community.
Tell us about yourself. How did you get started on your career path?
Quite by accident. We (myself and my two business partners) started selling fun t-shirts at street festivals. During one, a client asked us if we could do custom work, and we said yes. So, we started doing made-to-order apparel and within a year had abandoned retail altogether and grew into our business today.
Tell us about your business.
iCandee is a fully integrated custom apparel and merchandise supplier. We imprint all forms of clothing, accessories and dimensional goods. What sets us apart from most other vendors in our market is our capabilities. We perform almost all the print and production in our own facilities, which allows us to better control cost, quality, and turn time. We have been an NGLCC certified LGBTBE since our founding in 2011. .
the most rewarding part of your job?
Our clients and the ability to be creative. I really love what I do and the huge crosssection of people who we work with allows us to try different production methods we may otherwise have never learned.
Why is it important for you and your business to be a part of the Gulf South LGBTQ+ Chamber?
We have a great client base in the Gulf South, and we were very active in the LGBT Chamber in the city we were founded. Now that we are located here, supporting our fellow LGBTQ+ businesses and community partners is very important to us.
What else are you passionate about?
Cooking and wine—and sharing them both with family and friends! .

It’s about creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and empowered. This commitment aligns perfectly with our mission to celebrate the vibrant and diverse spirit of the Gulf South.
I’m incredibly passionate about my family, friendships, and my health. As a breast cancer survivor, advocating for screening and preventive measures is close to my heart. My journey has made me a loud and proud supporter of taking proactive steps to stay healthy and live a long and meaningful life. My family, friendships, and my dog Bowie mean the world to me, especially my 16-year-old, who is my greatest joy and inspiration. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could tell which businesses are fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment just by looking at their storefronts?
The New Orleans LGBT Hospitality Alliance (NOLHA), in partnership with New Orleans & Company, launched the “Everyone’s Welcome Here” sticker campaign to accomplish just that.
Local businesses are invited to declare their establishments as safe spaces for LGBTQ+ (and ally) employees and patrons by taking NOLHA’s inclusivity pledge. Participating businesses receive a free welcoming sticker to display in their workplace, as more than 300 businesses have already done citywide.
“Our LGBTQ-friendly business is committed to promoting an economically vibrant Greater New Orleans area, and we believe that we must have workplaces that are diverse and welcoming for all, including, but not limited to, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.”
If your business is ready to join this no-cost initiative, visit neworleans.com/lgbtq to take the pledge.
