Community Service Projects are acts of kindness and important ways to help something or someone right now. They are commonly short-term projects that almost always multiply efforts that are already in place. Examples include collecting food for an existing food pantry, providing clothing or toiletries to people who have suffered during a disaster, cleaning up a rundown playground, or picking up trash at a park, forest, or a beach.
Girl Scout Take Action projects address an issue by tackling the factors that cause or contribute to it. As you may expect, these projects have a far-reaching influence. They’re designed to change something for the better— forever. Projects associated with Journeys and the highest awards (the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award) are Take Action projects.
When you take action, you work to:
1. Identify a problem
2. Research the root cause of the problem
3. Come up with a sustainable solution
4. Develop a plan
5. Put the plan into action
6. Reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and what you’ve learned
Here are three ways to create sustainable change:
1. Make your solution permanent
2. Educate and inspire others to be part of the change
3. Change a rule, regulation, or law

Volunteers are
1 NATIONAL ORGANIZATION
Girl Scouts of the USA is the national organization supporting local Girl Scout councils.
2 LOCAL COUNCILS
Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit that fundraises to operate programs and camps for girls in Eastern Oklahoma.
3 SERVICE UNITS
Within our council are Service Units, entities governed by our council policies and managed by adult volunteers who support the day-to-day operations of troops.
4 TROOPS
Troops are groups of girls matched with adult volunteers who have successfully completed a background screen.
Be one of the nearly 3 million enthusiastic Girl Scout members who are discovering what it takes to make a difference in their community! Experience the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Become a Girl Scout volunteer. Here are just a few of the many volunteer roles from which you can choose:
• Troop Leader/Co-Leader – Work with a group of girls and mentor them as they make new friends and develop connections that will last a lifetime.
• Troop Support Volunteer – Assist the leadership team with driving, activity planning, snacks, money management, or other tasks necessary to keep the troop running oh-sosmoothly from week to week.
• Troop Family and Friends – Troop Family and Friends volunteers are parents/guardians or family friends who want to support their Girl Scout by attending troop meetings and Girl Scout events. These adult members also support the troop by occasionally helping at meetings or activities.
• Cookie Volunteers – Coordinate the annual cookie sale at the troop level. Set up cookie booths, manage inventory and money, and then watch the girls light up when they earn the rewards for being the best cookie sellers ever!
• Service Unit Volunteer – Mentor adult volunteers as they work with Girl Scouts to create memories they will never forget.
• Program Volunteer - Running council programs and events in specialized areas. Volunteering does not require a long-term commitment – volunteer for one event, one meeting, or one year in. Visit our website (link the volunteer page). To learn more about how you can get involved.

All activities require advance registrations and payment by the registration deadline. All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Cancellations must be received before the registration deadline. There are no refunds after the registration deadline. The individual making the registration will be responsible for any balances due for: cancellation received after the registration’s deadline, any balances due for girl who are “no shows”. On occasion, a council or third-party event will not allow refunds at any time after a registration has been made, this will be noted in the event descriptions.
On occasion, GSEOK or program partners may need to cancel a program. If an event is canceled, the person listed on the registration form as the troop or parent contact will be notified by email. For troop registrations, it will be the responsibility of the troop contact person to notify all girls registered for the event. Cancellations initiated by the council or program partner will result in full refund of fees paid. This policy includes all methods of payment including those made with Cookie Program Credit.
Leaders and other adults must follow Safety Activity Checkpoints for proper girl/adult ratios for all activities. Troop leaders/adults are responsible for the supervision of their own troop at events.
To register for our programs, please utilize Doubleknot. To prevent duplicate accounts, we recommend logging in to your existing Doubleknot account before registering. Please ensure accuracy
by carefully inputting the required information, as autofill may not always be accurate. Kindly note that we are unable to reserve space without payment.
Please be mindful of event registration deadlines! Early registration is encouraged as many events fill quickly. Registration will not be allowed after the deadline has passed.
Cookie Program Credit works like your typical gift card. Girl Scouts can use their Cookie Program Credit for Girl Scout programs and merchandise. Check Cookie Program Credit balance at any time by visiting www.storecard.com and entering card number and CVV code from your email. Cookie Program Credit is only to be used for the girl who earned it. Adults should not use Cookie Program Credit to pay their adult activity fees.
The purchaser will enter in the exact amount of Cookie Program Credit in the shopping cart and hit “checkout”. This will take them to the final payment screen. The purchaser will select the gold gift card with a red bow icon. Once selected, a box will pop up to enter the 19-digit number. After you have paid the Cookie Program Credit amount you will need to go back into your registration to make the remaining payment.
A “tagalong” is any child or adult other than the specific age-level being served at the event. Unless otherwise noted in event descriptions, tagalongs are not allowed at events due to liability issues and limited space. Leaders must check with program staff or the program partner to see if it is okay to bring tagalongs and inform their troop parents of this regulation.
The troop registers and attends as a group. All troop adults must be Girl Scout members with current background checks. A troop leader must have completed Beyond the Meeting training and the troop must have a currently certified First Aid/CPR trained adult. The troop provides transportation, collects permission slips, and maintains the adult-to-girl ratio. At times, the troop may only be able to bring the required number of adults for ratio found on Page 9.
Individual girl members can register and participate on their own. The event is facilitated by fully trained council staff and select volunteers who are Girl Scout members with current background checks. Caregivers provide transportation. Council staff will provide and collect permission documents from the caregiver. Caregivers are not expected to attend the event; however, a request for adult volunteers may occasionally go out to participants in order to meet the adult-to-girl ratio.
All adults and girls are expected to follow all components of the Girl Scout Law. Please adhere to the Safety Activity Checkpoints to ensure safety of Girl Scouts, families, leaders, and staff. It’s important to have directions to the event venue and plan on arriving with enough time to walk to check-in before the start time. Please be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately for the type of events you are attending. Let girls take the lead! While adults should be nearby to supervise, allow girls to do activities with minimal adult intervention. Sometimes event leaders need extra help to manage activities. If you have extra adults or self-sufficient girls, consider asking how you can help. Be sure to thank your event leaders for sharing their time and skills with you.
