Girl Scouts Travel
Every Girl Scout deserves the chance to expand their horizons, whether it’s a trip across town or across the world. Girl Scout Travel offers exciting adventures that build essential life skills. From local explorations to global immersions, these experiences shape future leaders.
Girl Scouts can travel in three ways:
• GSEOK Travel: Council-sponsored trips
• Troop Trips: Organized by individual troops

No matter the path, these journeys are transformative.
Council-sponsored travel prioritizes girls’ leadership and empowerment, placing them directly in the driver’s seat of their journey. It’s not merely a vacation but a hands-on project where travelers actively engage in every aspect, from research and planning to moneyearning and teamwork.

Service Projects vs. Take Action Projects
Community Service Projects are acts of kindness and important ways to help something or someone right now. They are commonly short-term projects that almost always multiply efforts that are already in place. Examples include collecting food for an existing food pantry, providing clothing or toiletries to people who have suffered during a disaster, cleaning up a rundown playground, or picking up trash at a park, forest, or a beach.
Girl Scout Take Action projects address an issue by tackling the factors that cause or contribute to it. As you may expect, these projects have a far-reaching influence. They’re designed to change something for the better— forever. Projects associated with Journeys and the highest awards (the Girl Scout Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award) are Take Action projects.
When you take action, you work to:
1. Identify a problem
2. Research the root cause of the problem
3. Come up with a sustainable solution
4. Develop a plan
5. Put the plan into action
6. Reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and what you’ve learned
Here are three ways to create sustainable change:
1. Make your solution permanent
2. Educate and inspire others to be part of the change
3. Change a rule, regulation, or law

Summer Camp
At camp, girls develop the kind of outdoor skills it’s hard to get anywhere else. During their camp experience, girls will find out how much fun it can be to unplug and explore the world around them.
Camp Tallchief maintains accreditation with the American Camping Association (ACA).
Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma and the ACA work together to undergo a thorough peer review of all operations-from emergency management to staff qualifications and training. The ACA works with the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youthserving agencies to assure that current practices at Camp Tallchief reflect the most current, researchbased standards in camp operation. Not sure if you’d rather spend your time at camp swimming like a sea horse or riding on horseback? How about both!?
Join us for a special session where adults and girls get to explore both! You’ll start by learning the basics of horse care as you groom, tack up, and ride together with friends. While horses can’t join us in the pool, you’ll help one of our horses cool off with a refreshing bath. Then, it’s your turn to splash around in the pool, relax, and have fun. Evenings are filled with classic camp activities—singing songs, playing games, making crafts, and gathering around the campfire. Enjoy quality time together with a perfect blend of horse care and camp traditions!
Goo & Slime
If getting dirty and making colorful creations is your thing, you’ll love this messy and silly camp! We’ll make goo, slime, sticky snacks, bright tie-dye and even paint with our toes. Toss on your oldest clothes as we go on a scavenger hunt and wild walk which will leave us covered in mud. When you and your pal are ready to get cleaned up, jump into the pool and splash around with your new friends! Campers should pack extra clothes that can get really, really dirty!

Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program
(3 weeks Sunday-Friday with weekends at home)
So, you want to be a camp counselor? Find out what counselor life is really like! The CIT Program enables campers to better understand the Girl Scout practices and principles related to camping and outdoor education.
CIT was developed to give Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors the opportunity to experience the challenges and rewards of working with younger campers in an outdoor setting. Becoming a CIT enables campers to gain insights into the responsibilities of program delivery and camp operations, offers experience in staff responsibilities, program goals, leadership styles, child development, group dynamics, outdoor skills, and conflict resolution. Campers will build a resource notebook by selecting and developing their favorite games, songs, and recipes to aid in their training.
The CIT program is designed to take place over the course of two summers. CIT 1 & 2 are each three-week programs (with weekends spent at home) designed to give Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors a chance to hone their leadership skills.
The first week of both CIT 1 and CIT 2 include a 3-day primitive camping experience where campers will cookout all their meals over a fire, camp in tents and hammocks, and learn outdoor skills. The experience gained in CIT 1 is expanded upon during the second summer through skill specialization, safety practices, and leading activities. Along the way there will be lots of camp memories, laughs, and beautiful campfires.
Must attend CIT 1 to attend CIT 2.
The CIT program is a total of six weeks of training (3 weeks per summer) with the intent of working at least one full summer at camp after completion, if eligible.

Community Programs
Our Community Programs remove barriers to participation, ensuring that all girls, regardless of their background or situation, can experience the life-changing benefits of Girl Scouting.
gseok.org/gsbb
Every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, lead, and thrive—no matter her circumstances.
Thanks to the generosity of our corporate and foundation partners, as well as the dedication of our volunteers, staff, and community supporters, we’re able to offer programs that remove barriers to participation at no cost to families.
Through Girl Scouts Beyond Bars (GSBB) and Staff-Led Troops, we are expanding access to Girl Scouting, fostering meaningful connections, and creating opportunities for girls to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and reach their full potential. We look forward to the continued growth of these programs and the lasting impact they will have on the girls and families we serve. If you would like to refer a Girl Scout and her siblings to our programs, please contact our Customer Care team: 918-749-2551 or customercare@gseok.org
Girl Scouts Beyond Bars
We are thrilled to announce that Girl Scouts Beyond Bars (GSBB), a family reunification program focused on reconnecting children with their incarcerated parents, has expanded this year. Initially operating within two women’s correctional facilities, the program now reaches two additional men’s facilities, broadening our impact significantly. This growth means we can now connect even more Girl Scouts and their siblings with their parents throughout the state.

For families in rural areas or those unable to attend in-person meetings, GSBB also offers a virtual community troop option. This virtual community provides a welcoming space for children to experience Girl Scouting, connect with peers, and feel part of a larger support network, even if they are unable to directly connect with their incarcerated parent.
Staff-Led Girl Scout Troops
At Girl Scouts, we believe that every girl deserves the opportunity to change the world and reach her full potential. However, some girls face barriers to participating in traditional troops, such as limited transportation, financial resources, or the lack of positive role models.

That’s why we’ve created our Staff-Led Girl Scout Troops—to break down these barriers and ensure all girls have access to the empowering Girl Scout experience. Through partnerships with schools, community centers, and other youth-serving organizations, our trained, paid staff lead troops right where the girls are—at school or after-school programs—making Girl Scouts more accessible than ever before.
In our staff-led programs, girls engage in activities such as weekly meetings to explore their passions, develop valuable skills, and make new friends. Through these experiences, they build self-esteem, cultivate positive values, and enhance their problem-solving confidence—laying a strong foundation for success that will last a lifetime.

Cancellations initiated by the council or program partner will result in full refund of fees paid. This policy includes all methods of payment including those made with Cookie Program Credit.
Girl/Adult Ratio
Leaders and other adults must follow Safety Activity Checkpoints for proper girl/adult ratios for all activities. Troop leaders/adults are responsible for the supervision of their own troop at events.
Registration
To register for our programs, please utilize Doubleknot. To prevent duplicate accounts, we recommend logging in to your existing Doubleknot account before registering. Please ensure accuracy
by carefully inputting the required information, as autofill may not always be accurate. Kindly note that we are unable to reserve space without payment.
Registration Deadlines
Please be mindful of event registration deadlines! Early registration is encouraged as many events fill quickly. Registration will not be allowed after the deadline has passed.
Using Cookie Program Credit
Cookie Program Credit works like your typical gift card. Girl Scouts can use their Cookie Program Credit for Girl Scout programs and merchandise. Check Cookie Program Credit balance at any time by visiting www.storecard.com and entering card number and CVV code from your email. Cookie Program Credit is only to be used for the girl who earned it. Adults should not use Cookie Program Credit to pay their adult activity fees.
The purchaser will enter in the exact amount of Cookie Program Credit in the shopping cart and hit “checkout”. This will take them to the final payment screen. The purchaser will select the gold gift card with a red bow icon. Once selected, a box will pop up to enter the 19-digit number. After you have paid the Cookie Program Credit amount you will need to go back into your registration to make the remaining payment.
Tagalongs
A “tagalong” is any child or adult other than the specific age-level being served at the event. Unless otherwise noted in event descriptions, tagalongs are not allowed at events due to liability issues and limited space. Leaders must check with program staff or the program partner to see if it is okay to bring tagalongs and inform their troop parents of this regulation.
What is a Troop Event?
The troop registers and attends as a group. All troop adults must be Girl Scout members with current background checks. A troop leader must have completed Beyond the Meeting training and the troop must have a currently certified First Aid/CPR trained adult. The troop provides transportation, collects permission slips, and maintains the adult-to-girl ratio. At times, the troop may only be able to bring the required number of adults for ratio found on Page 9.
What is an Individual Event?
Individual girl members can register and participate on their own. The event is facilitated by fully trained council staff and select volunteers who are Girl Scout members with current background checks. Caregivers provide transportation. Council staff will provide and collect permission documents from the caregiver. Caregivers are not expected to attend the event; however, a request for adult volunteers may occasionally go out to participants in order to meet the adult-to-girl ratio.
Event Ettiquette
All adults and girls are expected to follow all components of the Girl Scout Law. Please adhere to the Safety Activity Checkpoints to ensure safety of Girl Scouts, families, leaders, and staff. It’s important to have directions to the event venue and plan on arriving with enough time to walk to check-in before the start time. Please be sure to check the weather and dress appropriately for the type of events you are attending. Let girls take the lead! While adults should be nearby to supervise, allow girls to do activities with minimal adult intervention. Sometimes event leaders need extra help to manage activities. If you have extra adults or self-sufficient girls, consider asking how you can help. Be sure to thank your event leaders for sharing their time and skills with you.
