At Girl Scout camp, campers feel comfortable trying new things, testing their limits, and acquiring new skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Every camp activity under the sun (and moon).

Campers can fill their summer with sailing and swimming, hiking and biking, science and sing-alongs, campfires and cooking, high ropes courses and visual and performing arts, day and overnight trips, and much more!

A choice of where, when, and how to experience camp.

You choose: white sands or green hills, relaxation or challenge, day or resident camp. Join us for a few days or the whole summer—come by yourself or with a buddy, and make new friends to last a lifetime.

Not a Girl Scout yet? No problem!

Prior Girl Scout or troop membership is not required.

Getting Ready for Camp

Camp Like a Girl Scout

Camp Life Girl Scout camp is the perfect place for campers to explore their interests, gain new experiences, and grow into confident leaders. Plus, they’ll have a blast and make amazing new friends! Every camp session is a one-of-akind experience; campers take the lead and enjoy their dream camp experience with support from professional trained staff. Visit gsema.org/camp to learn about our camp directors!

Campers are placed in groups of 4-24, with 2-5 staff per group. Resident campers stay in cabins (6-10 campers), yurts (6 campers), tent-a-los (5 campers), or platform tents (4-6 campers) with cots/beds and mattresses.

Each camp has shelter for rainy day activities, bathroom facilities, storage, and a health center.

Bus transportation is included in the cost of day camp. Bus stop locations and times for each camp are included in this guide. To register for bus transportation, complete the Day Camp Bus Selection Form, which is available in your CampInTouch account, by May 31, 2022.

Be Prepared Visit our GSEMA shop in Waltham for all your camper’s needs. Trading posts at each camp will also have fun camp items and gear for sale, as well as limited quantities of adult-size camp apparel. See page 47 for a resident camp packing list!

Be sure to preorder camp T-shirts and hoodies when you register for camp to ensure your camper gets the right size! Youth sizes are only available for preorder. Keep an eye out for deadlines for your camp apparel this spring.

Getting Ready for Camp

Keeping Campers Safe and Healthy

A Safe Summer Camp Experience As we learned in summer 2021, camp can be run during a pandemic. We are excited for the woods to come alive again during summer 2022 with laughter, fun, adventure, and friendship!

Safety is a cornerstone of Girl Scouting. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are taking special precautions to keep our campers and staff safe and healthy, including increased cleaning measures, reduced capacities, adjusted program and operational procedures, and detailed training for our summer camp and full-time staff. As our regulations are updated, GSEMA will update all procedures and communicate them with families.

When you register your Girl Scout for camp, you will begin receiving monthly emails from GSEMA with any updates about camp safety both prior to camp and while your Girl Scout is at camp. These updates will be in alignment with any requirements or recommendations established by the CDC, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the New Hampshire Department of Health, the American Camp Association, and Girl Scouts of the USA. Please be sure that your email address in CampInTouch is accurate. In addition to these emails, we will also communicate all camp updates on our website and social media.

Adherence to all safety procedures ensures that all campers get the summer camp experience of their dreams! Thank you in advance for helping us keep camp safe and fun.

Keeping Campers Safe and Healthy Camp Safety Guidelines We follow all safety and risk management guidelines set by the local, state, and federal boards of health, Girl Scouts of the USA, and the ACA. All of our camps are ACA accredited. Massachusetts camps comply with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (105 CMR 430.000), New Hampshire camps comply with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Rules (Part Env-WS 1120.00), and each camp is also licensed by the board of health of the town in which it is located.

COVID-19 Precautions We are taking special precautions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to keep our campers and staff safe and healthy, including increased cleaning measures, reduced capacities, adjusted program and operational procedures, and detailed training for our summer camp and full-time staff.

Caregivers of registered campers will receive monthly communications from GSEMA with updated safety regulations and procedures based on any new requirements and recommendations from the CDC, the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Departments of Public Health, the American Camp Association, and Girl Scouts of the USA. For summer 2022, all GSEMA staff (including our camp staff) will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Staff Selection, Screening, and Training All staff are at least 18 years of age or high school graduates, and are selected based on their ability to work with youth, teach and share skills, and work as a team, as well as their commitment to Girl Scout values. We conduct thorough staff criminal background (CORI) and sexual offender (SORI) checks. Once hired, staff attend one to three weeks of training to bond as a team and gain skills in camping, risk management, safety, positive youth development, and interpersonal communication.

Bus Transportation Campers taking the bus must be picked up at the selected bus stop by an authorized pick-up person.

We cannot accept notes from caregivers to have campers walk home from the bus stop alone. You can log into CampInTouch to update your list of those who are authorized to pick up your camper by May 31, 2022. Please include their names and phone numbers. Everyone picking up a camper from the bus must show a photo ID. Register online at gsema.org/camp.

Getting Ready for Camp

Pre-Camp Health Assessment Required health forms are provided in camp confirmation packets and are due by May 2, 2022.

Campers are required to have a physical examination within the 12 months prior to their arrival at camp and health forms must be completed and signed by a physician each year.

Care of Mildly Ill Campers A healthcare supervisor (HCS) staffs the camp health center and a healthcare consultant (local physician) is on call. Staff is responsible for reporting any signs of illness to the HCS, who assesses each situation, and may administer over-the-counter medications if authorized by the caregiver. The HCS will determine if the camper should be sent home or seen by the healthcare consultant, in which case arrangements are made with the oversight of the camp director. In both situations, caregivers are contacted as soon as possible.

Campers with Special Needs We make every attempt to offer summer camp opportunities to all youth who want to attend Girl Scout camp. We can accommodate most special needs and dietary restrictions/preferences. Please email customercare@gsema.org to arrange a meeting with a member of our camp team to discuss how we can make your camper’s experience exciting, appropriate, and fulfilling. The information you share with us will be held confidential, shared only as HIPAA allows, and in accordance with your wishes.

Weapons, Drugs, and Smoking Policy We do not permit recreational drugs, alcohol, pets, tobacco products, or weapons of any kind (e.g. Swiss army knives, scissors, etc.) at camp. Campers who regularly take prescription medication should bring them to camp in their original containers with their names on them, and turn them over to the bus monitor or healthcare supervisor upon arrival to the bus or camp.

Your Rights To comply with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and be licensed by the local boards of health, we inform you that caregivers have the right to request a copy of our background checks policy, camp healthcare policies, and discipline policies, as well as policies for filing grievances. Not quite ready for a full week? Spend half a week sampling fun camp activities such as outdoor cooking, arts and crafts, games, swimming, and much more.

Discover the excitement of staying overnight at camp, sleeping in a platform tent, and making new friends! Tuesday pickup is 5-6 PM.

Session 1A: July 3-5 | $390 Session 3A: July 24-26 | $390 First-time overnight campers are always welcome at Camp Favorite! Spend half a week sampling fun activities designed for campers your age such as outdoor cooking, arts and crafts, games, swimming, and much more. Keep the fun going as you and your tent-mates share the excitement of camp at night. Tuesday pickup is 5-6 PM.

Friend-Makers Session 3: July 24-29 | $725 Make new friends as you spend the week at overnight camp! Create a work of art, splash in the water at Long Pond, cook over the campfire, paddle in a canoe, play lots of fun games, and have the best week of your life.

Ice Cream, You Scream!

Session 1: July 3-8 | $725 We all scream for ice cream! Cape Cod has so many ice cream shops to sample.

Visit some local favorites, make your own ice cream back at camp, and enjoy classic camp activities including swimming, boating, arts and crafts, and more.

Sails & Trails Session 1: July 3-8 | $800 Session 3: July 24-29 | $800 Explore the special landscape and sparkling waters of the Cape. Spend your days alternating between biking and sailing adventures. Sail the waters of Long Pond and then hop on the famous Cape Cod Rail Trail for a bike trip. You must be comfortable in water over your head while wearing a personal flotation device, and you must be able to ride a bike. A bike and helmet will be provided, or you can bring your own.

Explorers Session 2: July 10-22 | $1,550 Try a little of everything at camp!

Spend your week playing games, singing songs, setting sail on a variety of boats, making crafts, and living your best camp life! You’ll get to try out lots of different activities while you’re at camp, all while having fun and making memories.

Camp Together Session 3: July 24-29 | $725 Make new friends while playing games, singing songs, cooking over the fire, sleeping in a platform tent, swimming in Long Pond, making art, and trying different types of boats. Bring your enthusiasm and ideas to help your counselors plan the week. It’s all up to you!

Entering Grades 5-8 Sail Away Session 2: July 10-22 | $1,600 Session 4: July 31-August 12 | $1,600 Learn to sail or sharpen the skills you already have! Work with your crewmates to sail the beautiful waters of Long Pond. Weather permitting, you will have nine formal sailing lessons with experienced instructors who will help you progress through our unique sailing program. You will be divided into units based on age, then placed into smaller sailing classes based on skill level. Work toward individual goals, culminating in an all-camp sailing race, the Long Pond Invitational. You must be able to swim 50 meters and be comfortable in water over your head while wearing a personal flotation device.

Water Fun Session 4: July 31-August 12 | $1,550 Ever wish you could spend all day in the water? During these two weeks you might come close! Swim the waters of Long Pond and take a trip to the ocean.

Enjoy lunch around a floating campfire, plan your own water carnival, and end your session with a guarded swim from Camp Favorite to the Brewster Landing beach. Try activities like canoeing, kayaking, sailing, ocean exploration, and snorkeling.

Using Camp Favorite as your home base, spend a day on Martha’s Vineyard, go minigolfing, and plan a third day filled with your choice of Cape Cod activities. Plus, enjoy all the fun camp has to offer!

Fun Without Sun Session 1: July 3-8 | $725 Come prepared to stay up late, because you’ll just be getting started when everyone else is getting ready for bed!

Take a look through a telescope to see stars up close, sleep out on the beach, throw a glow-in-the-dark party, make some delicious late-night snacks, plus so much more.

Either Oar Session 2: July 10-22 | $1,550 Grab your paddle and let’s get exploring!

Build your paddling skills in canoes and kayaks and on stand-up paddle boards.

Try out glow paddle boarding and enjoy a floating campfire. You must be able to swim 50 meters and be comfortable in water over your head while wearing a personal flotation device.

Artist Adventure Session 3: July 24-29 | $725 Explore nature and your creative side!

Head to the beaches and pinewoods to try sewing, painting, and more. Our resident artists will help you plan a week of creative endeavors filled with art projects. Embrace your imagination and the beauty of nature, and leave with amazing creations!

Join us for two weeks of Cape travel by bike with your counselors. Plan a multi-night trip, take the Cape Cod Rail Trail to get ice cream, visit the National Seashore, or go on a mini-golf outing. You might even try for the 150-Mile Bike Club! You must be comfortable riding a bike for 10 miles on rail trails and roads. A bike and helmet will be provided or you can bring your own.

Advanced Sailing Session 4: July 31-August 12 | $1,600 Sail the waters of nearby Back Bay of Camp Favorite in our fleet of 420s. Work to perfect your already strong sailing skills and use a trapeze and spinnaker to go even faster. This session is for experienced sailors looking to advance their skills and learn racing techniques. A Camp Favorite skill rating of Able Sea Person or higher (or equivalent) is required. You should be confident operating a two-sail boat with minimal assistance. A skills check will take place when you arrive to ensure correct level placement. You must be able to swim 50 meters and be comfortable in water over your head while wearing a personal flotation device.

Entering Grades 9-12 Cape Cod Getaway Session 1: July 3-8 | $725 Plan your own summer vacation on Cape Cod with fellow campers! Maybe you’ll want to include a movie night, a day at the National Seashore, or an ice cream trip. Whatever you choose, your getaway will be a blast!

Sailing Session 2: July 10-22 | $1,600 Session 4: July 31-August 12 | $1,600 Learn to sail or sharpen the skills you already have! Work with your crewmates to sail the beautiful waters of Long Pond. Weather permitting, you will have nine formal lessons with experienced instructors who will help you progress through our unique sailing program.

You will be divided into units based on age, then placed into smaller sailing classes based on skill level. Work toward individual goals, culminating in an all-camp sailing race, the Long Pond Invitational. Includes a special off-camp overnight trip. Entering Grades 11-12 Counselor in Training (CIT) I Session 1B: July 3-22 | $1,350 This three-week program is an opportunity for mature and qualified campers to work with children and receive onthe-job training. The program includes training in age-level characteristics, group dynamics, leadership development, life skills, teaching techniques, group planning, and decision-making skills. There will be many opportunities to practice your skills while working in units and specialized areas. CITs live and work in their own patrol under the guidance of a leadership specialist. You must be able to attend all three weeks, but will return home during the session break weekend (July 8-10).

Entering Grade 12 Counselor in Training (CIT) II Session 3B: July 24-August 12 | FREE For CIT graduates: This is the most fun internship ever! Live at camp, work in units, and get in-depth, on-the-job training.

Session 4C: July 24-August 5 | $1,550 Experience the beautiful wilderness and explore natural areas only accessible by hiking. For this backpacking adventure, you will plan the trek, pack the gear, lace up your boots, grab a backpack, and pitch the tents. The trip will be based on the experience level of the participants, up to three nights in length, and may be rigorous. You should be able to carry 25-30 pounds of weight and hike five to six miles a day. This is a Level 3 backpacking trip. You must have completed Backpackers, Mountain Dreams, or have equivalent experience to participate.

Spend your time at camp exploring the lake by paddleboard, canoe, and kayak. Enjoy a day at the beach and even discover some waterfalls.

Then, embrace your imagination and creativity as you spend the rest of your time at camp working on colorful art projects.

Session 4: July 31-August 12 | $1,600 Explore the waterfalls of Vermont and New Hampshire and practice your outdoor camping skills! Base camp for two nights, chase waterfalls, and enjoy a day at the ocean. You and your group will decide which waterfalls to visit. Back at camp, fill your days with archery, boating, and arts and crafts.

Wabasso Investigators Session 2: July 10-22 | $1,550 Calling all investigators! Turn your unit into your own Secret Super Sleuth Headquarters and solve some mysteries around camp. Put your teamwork to the test as you work your way through an outdoor escape room and create your own escape room for others to solve!

Wabasso Bake-Off Session 4: July 31-August 12 | $1,550 Put your outdoor cooking skills to the test as you create your own appetizers, entrees, and desserts over the campfire as you attempt to become Camp Wabasso Star Baker. Bake in a Dutch oven, make dishes from other countries, and challenge yourself with mystery recipes and secret ingredients.

Water Trippers Session 2: July 10-22 | $1,550 Join the paddleboard adventure!

Develop your paddleboarding skills at camp and then head out to try your skills on the lakes around Camp Wabasso. You will also get to participate in archery and your other favorite camp activities!

Create the perfect camp experience for you by choosing your favorite camp activities. Create art, have a cookout, splash around while swimming, or go boating. Then head out on a two-night overnight at a state park in Vermont or New Hampshire.

Wabasso Wilderness Session 2: July 10-22 | $1,550 Become a wilderness adventurer while you learn fire building, shelter building, outdoor cooking, and primitive camping skills. Build your overnight site and spend at least two nights sleeping there. Try your hand at different types of outdoor cooking, make some nature art, and spend time just hanging out with your friends.

Explore Vermont Session 3: July 24-29 | $800 Head out each day to discover a new spot to explore in Vermont. Hike to a mountain, find a waterfall, and spend a day at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science exploring the Forest Canopy Walk.

Experience the beauty of the outdoors throughout Vermont and at camp as you enjoy all your favorite camp activities.

Mountain Explorers Session 4: July 31-August 12 | $1,600 Grab your hiking boots, day pack, and water bottle, and hit the trails! Your group will decide which hikes you would like to take on in the area. Then spend two nights base camping in Northern New Hampshire, hiking and rock climbing in the White Mountains.

Session 3B: July 24-August 12 | $1,350 This three-week program is an opportunity for mature and qualified campers to work with children and receive on-the-job training. The program includes training in agelevel characteristics, group dynamics, leadership development, life skills, teaching techniques, group planning, and decision-making skills. There will be many opportunities to practice your skills while working in units and specialized areas. CITs live and work in their own patrol under the guidance of the Leadership Director. You must be able to attend all three weeks, but will return home during the session break weekend (July 29-July 31).

Session 1B: July 3-22 | FREE For CIT I graduates: the most fun internship ever! Live at camp, work in units, and get in-depth, on-the-job experience and training. You’ll work with counselors in units and specialized areas around camp. An application will be sent to you upon receipt of your regular camp registration. References are required, and the camp director will select qualified applicants. All applicants are waitlisted until applications are reviewed and approved. You must be able to attend all three weeks, but will return home during the session break weekend (July 8-10).

What to pack for resident camp: We suggest that families pack for camp in a plastic tote or large duffel bag rather than many small bags. It can be helpful to campers to pack complete outfits in Ziploc bags within their luggage. Please note: Campers may need to help move their luggage, so please pack accordingly.

Session 2B: July 11-22 | $450 This two-week program is for those who have completed Program Aide I at a GSEMA camp during a previous summer.

In addition to receiving advanced training, you’ll become proficient in an area of interest such as swimming, boating, archery, challenge course, or arts and crafts. During the second week you’ll have the opportunity to assist counselors in leading camp activities.

Entering Grades 8-11 Program Aide Training Session 1B: July 5-15 | $750 Are you interested in being a leader at camp? Want to learn how to work with younger campers? If so, this two-week program is for you! You will receive leadership training followed by the opportunity to assist counselors in leading camp activities. Program Aides will also enjoy being campers and participating in general camp activities.

Day Camp Assistant (DCA) I Session 3: July 18-22 | $200 Session 4: July 25-29 | $200 Session 5: August 1-5 | $200 Session 6: August 8-12 | $200 Participate in advanced leadership training, then head out to the units to be a role model to Girl Scouts and share your love of camp! Available to those who have completed Program Aide Core Training or attended Program Aide Training at a GSEMA camp in a previous summer.

Candidates may apply for up to three weeks. All applicants will be placed on a waitlist until a completed application and camp director approval are received.

Join us at camp to get in-depth, on-thejob experience and training. You will work with counselors in units and in specialized areas around camp. Available to those who have completed DCA I. Girl Scouts will participate in an interview process, and the camp director will select qualified applicants.

How to Register 1

Register online.

Visit gsema.org/camp and click REGISTER. Create a CampInTouch account (or log into your existing account), select your choice of sessions, and pay the $50 deposit for each. ▶

Not a Girl Scout? Not a problem! Girl Scout membership is $40 and financial assistance is available.

Day camp bus transportation is included.

Sign up for bus transportation during camp registration by May 31, 2022.

Before registering, please review our cancellation policies below.

Campers may request one “buddy” per session. Both buddies must register for the same camp and session and must list each other’s name on the registration forms.

The camp director has final say on camp placement.

Confirm your camper’s registration.

Once you receive an email confirmation of your camper’s registration (check your spam folder if you haven't received it in your inbox), log back into your CampInTouch account, and click FORMS & DOCUMENTS to view your camper’s confirmation packet, which includes all required paperwork, a packing list, and additional information.

Make your final payment by May 31, 2022. ▶

Your credit card or ACH account on file will be charged the remaining balance on this date.

All past due balances must be paid in full prior to registration for the 2022 camp season.

▶

Campers with outstanding balances after May 31, 2022 will be moved to the waitlist pending final payment.

Cancellation Policies Cancellations and Refunds: Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Refunds of camp fees (not including the deposit) may only be made when written notice of cancellation and a request for refund is received at least four weeks prior to the start of the camp session. Contact customercare@gsema.org. No refunds are given for campers arriving late, leaving early, or unable to attend all or part of a session for reasons such as illness.

Inclement Weather: High ropes and water activities may be cancelled when weather conditions are unsuitable. Alternative activities will be provided. Refunds are not given when activities are cancelled due to inclement weather.

Program Cacellation: If a program is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, every effort will be made to place campers in a similar program.

Camp sessions are held regardless of weather, but programs may be modified due to inclement weather.

Use your 2021 and 2022 Cookie Credits for Camp!

Mail original, signed Cookie Credits with your camper's name and a copy of your invoice to: Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Attn: Camp 265 Beaver Street Waltham, MA 02452 Cookie Credits cannot be used toward your deposit and must be received by the last day of camp (Aug. 12) to be used toward your camp balance.

Financial Assistance Financial assistance is available to those who otherwise would not be able to attend camp. So that we may meet the needs of as many campers as possible, you may only apply for assistance for a portion of one session of day or resident camp. Limited camp financial assistance is available only to campers living in a Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts community. ▶ Financial assistance is provided on a rolling basis as long as funds are available.

Complete the online camp registration form on CampInTouch and pay the $50 deposit per session.

▶

Once you have submitted the registration form and paid the deposit, go to the CampinTouch Forms & Documents section and complete a financial assistance application.

Review and Next Steps ▶

▶ The deposit is refundable if financial assistance is not approved.

Financial assistance applications are reviewed as they are received, and families will be notified of decisions within two weeks of review.

▶ All information related to financial assistance will be kept confidential.

GSEMA may request proof of income documentation during the review process.

▶

Final payment of remaining camp fees (after the deposit and any financial assistance) is due May 31, 2022.

▶

Campers receiving financial assistance are subject to all cancellation policies (see page 81).

▶ Funding for assistance is limited and not all requests may be granted.
