SyllabiforallCOREcoursesduebyAug4th!
As you probably heard, a new BOR policy (passed May 15, 2025) requires the public posting of class syllabibytimestudentsgotoregister(whichasyouknowisMUCHearlierthanpreviouslyrequired). Itis beingphased-in,soforFall2025,Spring2026,andSummer2026,syllabiforallcourseswithintheCore IMPACTSdomainsmustbepubliclyavailableontheuniversitywebsiteoneweekpriortothebeginning of classes Beginning in Fall 2026, syllabi must be publicly available at the time of registration for all courses
In a nutshell: if you teach a core IMPACTS course this Fall, we MUST get a "syllabus" posted on the UniversitywebsitebeforeAugust4th!
Fortunately, only certain basic items are required on this early preview syllabus (not what any of us wouldcallacompletesyllabus). Amorecompletesyllabuswithadditionalinformationanddetailscan then still be part of additional "addendums" uploaded later into FOLIO and covered on the first day of class,sameasusual(ex.aschedule/calendarisnotrequiredintheBoRsyllabus,butcouldbepartofa "full"syllabusinFOLIO-IactuallymakethataseparatefileinFOLIOformyclassesasIwantedittobe somethingtheycouldeasilyprintandtapetotheirdesk/wall). Thereisatemplatetouseforeachcore IMPACTS area (they have the appropriate core IMPACTS learning outcomes pre-filled to save a little time) which I highly suggest using. Your Department Chair should have them (or you can email Brian Koehler)

GradingPolicy: can be just an outline, such as 10% homework, 40% exams, 30% labs, etc). It doesn't havetoexplainthenumberofhomeworks, exams, etcmightbewithineachcategory.
AdditionalAttendancePolicy: You don’t have to add more here (optional at this point - could be explained in final syllabus addendum in FOLIO), but probably any department-wide policies should
Note: Syllabi must be ADA compliant and in PDF format (Using the syllabus template provided will ensure this) For those choosing to upload their own design, Word and Adobe Acrobat both check for ADAcompliance Runthecompliancecheckerbeforesubmitting Wearerequiredtorejectitandhaveit re-submittedifnotcomplaint.
Amorepowerfulandusefulsoftwaresolutionwillbecoming, butforthisinitialrushtocollectthesyllabi for this Fall semester, Georgia Southern is utilizing a google Form to collect the information and syllabi. Department Chairs are required to review each syllabus to make sure it at least contains those minimum elements and meets ADA requirements, so check with your Chair about how you are to submitthemfortheirreview.
I am sorry this is so rushed/last-minute. Fortunately we don't need everything normally found in a full syllabus, just the topics in the template syllabus and outlined above. I do appreciate your help in gettingthisdonequicklyforourFallCOREclasses.PleasecontactyourDepartmentChairormyselfwith anyquestions.
