Dr EdwardLoearnedaBSinGeologyfromLouisianaStateUniversity(2013),anMSinGeological Sciences(2017)andaPhD inGeologicalSciencesfromtheUniversityofKentucky(2023) Heis currently a Lyman T Johnson Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Kentucky where he is integrating transdisciplinaryknowledgewithgeoscienceinKentucky Dr Lo’sresearchinterestsaremulti-faceted,including sedimentarypetrologyandclaymineralogyofmodernriversediments,fluvialgeomorphologyandfloodhistory of lowland environments, and sustainability and hydrology of tropical lakes He is also interested in community engagement, environmental justice, and minority participation in geoscience, which is the focus of his postdoctoral fellowship work at the University of Kentucky. Do you have an outstanding undergraduate research student that deserves recognition for their scholarly achievement? If so, encourage them to apply for the COSM Transcript Notation for Dean’s Recognition as a Research Scholar. This transcript notation provides evidence that a student has demonstrated excellence in scientific research and certifies that a student has achieved proficiency in a set of research and scholarly benchmarks as outlined by the College.
Toqualify,astudentmust:
Conduct research with a COSM faculty member for at least two semesters andearnatotalofatleastthreeresearchcredithours; Attendandpresenttheirresearchataprofessionalmeeting;and Prepareawrittenproduct(researchthesis).
Applications must be submitted four weeks before graduation for the notation to be recognized at graduation with a cord, but students can apply any time withinsixmonthsaftergraduation.
