Cyber Fraud and GSC Solutions
As we move further into 2024 and deeperinto a rapidlychanging front in the development of AI, technology, and scammers. We must be vigilant to do our best to stop the advances and attacks against our Generator Supercenter emailtenet.
This is something that must be done by everyone. We wish that we could just lock it down and that would be all that is needed to keep out bad actors. Unfortunately, that is not the reality we live in today. We need everyone on the lookout to respond to and forward bademailstoCentreTechnologies, by using the tools embedded into Outlook. Everyone has received emails from a Saudi Prince or African relative that has passed and just needs $500.00 to release your newfound wealth. This is not what we are seeing with today’s challenges. We are seeing cloned emails from your team, vendors, suppliers, and family members asking for you or another team member to update their Account Numberintheirsystem. Ifyoulook attheactualemailaddressyouwill know that this is a fraudulent request, but employees get busy, and things get missed. These emails are getting much more regularandbetterscripted.
Generator Supercenter Franchise has partnered with a software company called “KnowB4.” This company provides training to everyone in using our email tenet forwhattolookoutforandwhatnot to do when something looks suspicious. This program will be sending emails both known and unknowntotheteammemberswith Generator Supercenter email addresses. We will be testing who clicks on messagesthat couldhave been scam emails, but the individual did not catch. You will alsobegettingclassesthroughtheir system to help with the awareness ofwhatisnewonthisfrontandhow to avoidmajorcatastrophes.
Beginning inApril, you or your team members will begin receiving these emails for training. GSF will coordinate and notify you and your team members of any issues. Everyone will begin receiving e-vites to the KnowB4 training portal. These are usually 515 minutes short videos with a few questionsattheend. GSFhasbeen usingthisforthelastquarterof2024 with good results. If you have any questions regarding this or other Cyber issues, please reach out to Mike Sherman, Franchise ComplianceOfficer.
GSC of Southwest Florida
Owned by Grant Smith and Beth Wild, this franchise encompasses three territories – Fort Myers, Sarasota, and Naples. Originally hailing from Wisconsin, Grant and Beth now call sunny (and occasionally stormy!) Fort Myers home. Following their marriage in July 2018, they relocated to Florida and embarked on their journey with GSC. They have a beautiful, sweet, busy 14month-old baby girl named Summer and she is the light of their lives. Join us as we delve into their experience running GSC of Southwest Florida and the insights they've gained along the way.
What Beth says about Grant:
Grant is extremely kind, positive, and caring. His ability to stay calm in stressful and demanding situations is unfathomable. Furthermore, he values people of different backgrounds which is one reason he is a great leader.
What Grant says about Beth:
Beth is a smart, funny, and determined person. I admire her ability to form deep connections with others and am certain this has contributed to our success.
How were you initially introduced and what influenced your decision to franchise with Generator Supercenter?
Being from Wisconsin, I was aware and very interested in Generac and their rapid growth. In 2018 I began searching for the most successful dealer in the country and came across GSC and their efforts to grow through franchising.
“I TRY TO UPLIFT THE PEOPLE AROUND ME, EMBODY JOY, AND INSPIRE OUR TEAM”
IreachedouttoGSCandshortlythereaftertalkedwith Doug Dixon. We all know Doug is a terrific salesperson so my curiosity in the company grew even more. I then spoke to Wes and recognized our business philosophy and personal morals aligned and knew the opportunity to be part of GSC was worth pursuing.
Could you share some insights into your professional background and how it aligns with your venture with GSC?
My professional background is in banking and real estate. I also owned a brokerage and home renovation business.
Those industries demand high-touch and excellent customer service skills over long sales cycles. I recognized that experience and focus on building lasting relationships would be beneficial in owning a GSC franchise. My businesses also required strong financial management skills which has helped me tremendously. Furthermore, the self-sacrifice and dedication it took to run those businesses prepared me for what is required as an owner of a GSC franchise.
My wife’s background is in project management which is an excellent complement to my sales and customer service background. She has played a major role in our business and her expertise was vital in getting us off the ground running and developing our franchise.
What personality traits and skills do you most beneficial in managing a Generator Supercenter?
A focus on sales, customer service, and ability to remain agile and positive have been beneficial to managing a GSC (Continued)
