Project I: Renuion (“The act or process of being brought together again as a unified whole.”)

The project focused on the envision of “protecting culture heritage”, also focusing on the problem about a Phenomenon of “menzel fragmentation”. The project based on the analysis of urbanlization process of Djerba. Finding a way to solve the problem which local residentials left the original menzel and mosques have been abandoned. By using a large canopy which revival the original Djerba agriculture and bring people back. It’s a project which has consideration on both realms of architecture and urban planning.

Project II: Spatial plasticity in future truck stop My design is inspired by the term “plastic art”; it explores spatial plasticity and the shape of specific spaces, their organizations, and internal spatial relationships. This project focuses on how spaces overlap, transform, and interact. Gas pumps, for example, don’t need to be isolated, they could connect to vending machines. The autonomous space of the truck stop can run by itself but also connect to other architectures. I hope that the truck stop of the future resembles a factory model in which goods can be easily loaded and unloaded, and drivers aren’t required to stay with their truck at the stop—they can eat, sleep, or watch a film.

This design includes a telescopic aerodynamic vacuum device that unloads goods onto a conveyor belt. On the other side of the truck stop, people transfer goods from the belt to their next destination.

“A great loudreading is happening , but no one noticed” A project based on the idea of countering the colonized institution.The met museum of art has a collection of Cesnola(the first presedent of Met museum), but the antiques came from loot and forcibly plunder.The project aim on thinking about what the resposibility and role that a public institution should have and should be. Why museum could always given the history and narratives to the exhibitions. The project aims on creating a new sequence and history to those antiquities. Letting antiquties making new history to themselves.

2020 Fall, Generative Design Instructor: Danil Nagy Team member: Jinxia Lou, Yuexi Xu, Ke Zhai, Xianghui Kong, Chao Chang We attempt to design a model that can make a suitable design according to the site setting and the time period of shading in need.

In a park, we assume that there are prefabricated bases for poles in the site, which are distributed on a grid. According to the length of the selected base and poles, they can be combined to form sunshades of different sizes and heights to provide shade for activities that happened in the site. But at the same time, the variability of pole length also means the variability of sunshade shape.

However, due to the different time that activities happened and characteristics of the site in the park, there are more specific requirements for the shadow area generated by the sunshade group. First, because the time and place of activities in the park are different, the sunshade should be adjusted according to the sunshine in a specific period of time to meet the shading requirements of the site in a specified time period.

2021 Spring TECHNIQUES OF THE ULTRAREAL Instructor: Phillip Crupi, Joseph Brennan Team member: Wenjuan Li,Xianghui Kong, Chao Chang Project “Cliff” 1: In the beginning of this semester, our group’s idea is to express the concept that houses standing on the cliff. Our design is to express architecture appears at atypical location and how to incorporate with the surrounding environment 2: The first attempt is to setting up 5 different views to show our ideas about what we want to express the phases , after that, we settled down three views that we could express our design the best (1: the view parallel to eye level; 2: the view that look upon from the bottom;3: the view from mountain top) 3: then we had a long time in figuring out how different materials and lighting settings can make our design looks better and more realistic. We use the concrete for building materials, frosted glass for windows, aluminum for window frames.

4: after last review, we rebuild the model of mountain to make it looks more realistic, changing the distance , adjusting ratio of pictures, making the texture more fit to real material, also adjusting the uv mapping of material and correct the direction.
