Annual Report Fiscal Year 2022

Mission, Promise, Law

Mission Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scout Promise On my honor, I will try: To serve God* and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law. Girl Scout Law I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout. *Members may substitute for the word God in accordance with their own spiritual beliefs.

Girl Scouts raise their right hand holding up the index, middle, and ring fingers, connecting the thumb and pinkie as they recite the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

La Promesa de Girl Scouts Por mi honor yo trataré: De servir a Dios* y a mi patria, Ayudar a las personas en todo momento, Y vivir conforme a la Ley de Girl Scouts.

Troop 2230 of Cleburne began in 2022 as one of our primarily Spanish speaking troops.

Letter from CEO & Board Chair

Dear Girl Scout members, donors, and families, What an amazing year 2021-2022 was for Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains. As we returned to inperson activities, we learned to manage a hybrid Girl Scout environment with a variety of virtual and in-person trainings and events. We reopened camps for weekend camping and summer adventures, including day camp at Camp Timberlake. We expanded our options for older girl travel, including trips to NASA, DisneyWorld resort, and Big Bend. Our goal for fiscal year 2022 was to bring a normalcy back to Girl Scouting as we celebrated 110 years of Juliette Gordon Low’s dream and mission. As you will learn in this annual report, our Girl Scouts challenged themselves, ran successful businesses, and created lifelong memories while making new friends and carrying on 110 years of Girl Scout traditions. Our volunteers learned from each other, attended our inaugural Volunteer Leadership Summit, and encouraged young women from across GSTOP to live with courage, confidence, and character. We are reminded daily of the words of our founder, Juliette Gordon Low, “The work of today is the history of tomorrow, and we are its makers.” Join us, as we continue today’s work for tomorrow’s history, all in the name of Girl Scouting. Sincerely,

Becky Burton Melinda Mitchell-Jones Chief Executive Officer Chair, Board of Directors

Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains Diversity Statement Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains and our Girl Scouts of the USA sisterhood stand for all to ensure inclusion, diversity, equity, and access as we equip girls with courage, confidence, and character. We believe racism and hate have no place here, as Girl Scouts is a place for all girls to belong. We can acknowledge that we don’t always have the answers, but as Girl Scouts, we must ensure that we are present for all our girls and volunteers. We must ensure that we continue to build women leaders who are prepared to lead their communities, especially in times of crisis. Let our actions speak louder than words. A pivotal part of Girl Scouting is teaching and helping girls, as well as volunteers, to Take Action to make the world a better place. 800.582.7272
