STEM Winter Challenge In this self-paced, girl-led exploratory challenge, all are invited to try their hand at experiments, origami, engineering, kitchen chemistry, moon journaling, coding and more! As you explore the world of STEM, show us what you have done! Whether you are working alone or have your whole troop involved, tag GSTOP on social media and use the hashtag #stemwinterchallenge. All completed forms are due by the end of the day on February 1st, 2023. Buy your STEM Winter Challenge patch and rocker at the end of February 2023 in your local shop. 9. Build 3 different types of paper airplanes and test them! Predict which will fly the farthest. Measure the distance each one flies.

1. Use your math skills to create a NASA Origami Starshade.

2. Design and build an igloo with cubes of ice.

11. Create a watercolor salt snowflake painting.

3. Download the Sky View app and explore the night sky. Look for constellations and planets!

12. Scientists want to understand the world around us. Write 5 WHY or WHAT questions to learn more about something in nature & go find the answers.

4. Build and decorate a gingerbread house (you can substitute cardboard for gingerbread.)

13. Make an asteroid you can eat. 14. Build a home for a toy figurine. Add rooms for all their needs! 15. Create a zipline 4 feet off the ground for a small toy to travel down. Time the toy! Explore photography points of view – take a photo from high up, at eye-level and from ground level. Compare the angles - what is the difference? What do you see? 18.
