St. Vincent’s committed to Fundraising Standards St. Vincent’s Hospice have furthered their commitment to transparency and high standards, by signing up to the Scottish Fundraising Standards Panel Fundraising Guarantee. The Scottish Fundraising Standards Panel was established for the purposes of overseeing enhanced self-regulation of fundraising in Scotland, being responsible for fundraising standards and to handle complaints relating to registered charities. Director of Income Generation for St. Vincent’s Hospice, Jackie Young, said: “Everything we do is only made possible with the support from our donors and supporters. From comprehensive care in our In-patient Unit, to improving quality of life and independence through in our Day Hospice, to supporting patients and families in their own homes through our Community services, without your donations we simply couldn’t do what we do. “That is why we signed up for the Good Fundraising Guarantee. It is our commitment to you that not only will we be clear about what we do with the money and our processes, but also that we will keep your data and information safe, respect your privacy, and honour your wishes about how we keep in touch.” The Guarantee commits St. Vincent’s to complying with the law as it applies to charities and fundraising, as well as adhering to their Fundraising Code of Practice. They will also monitor fundraisers, volunteers and third parties to ensure they are also adhering to best practice. Save Falls of Clyde Campaign We are raising money to bring this piece of history back to Scotland to restore her and see her sail. The Falls of Clyde was built in 1878 (in Port Glasgow) and was one of eight sister ships named after the waterfalls of Scotland. She is now the sole survivor and is currently afloat in Honolulu, Hawaii. However, she is more than just a piece of Scottish history and heritage, she is a testament to the power of Scottish Shipbuilding as, after over 139 years, she is still steady and still floating. But, there’s a problem, she has fallen into disrepair and the Hawaiian authorities had planned to sink her. Our Glasgow based group ‘Save Falls of Clyde International’ campaign was formed - by David O’Neill - with the aim of stopping her being sunk and bringing her home to Scotland to be rebuilt and sailing again. After lengthy negotiations, we have managed to convince them to work with us to help bring her home and rebuild her so she can sail around the world again and we have ambitious plans for her (as detailed at this link). https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ save-falls-of-clyde-campaign#/
