Brookfield Curling Club

Kilmacolm Tennis Club 1 Championships

Why not fill up those long winter evenings with a new sport or revive old skills? Interested in taking up Curling? All standards welcome. For information, telephone 01505 614080.

We saw over six hours of tennis entertainment served up – most of them featuring Liz Reid. She just came up short at the final hurdle in her valiant attempt to pull off a triple crown of final victories – but after seven tough sets she was still up and on court with the other volunteers to help with the Junior Social on Sunday morning.

Saturday Sweep Curling

Liz won her first ever Kilmacolm Ladies Singles title, as well as the Ladies Doubles with Val Lawrence. Marian Wardell was runner up in both singles and (with Gillian Finch) doubles. Another lovely match saw Connie Reid win the girls under 14 match with some super tennis from both her and Maddy Brooksbank. Three Cups for the Reid girls….

Whether you’re a curling know-it-all or a novice, come on down to our Saturday Sweep Sessions at intu Braehead! Every Saturday until 2 April 2016. From 11.45am - 2.15pm at intu Braehead, Renfrew. Houston United

We are looking for new players to come along and tryout for our team. Training sessions are Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the On-X sports centre in Linwood from 7pm until 8pm every week. If you are interested, please call Colin on 07989 987312.

The Wilson boys 3 also came away with three titles. Ben won the under 17 singles against Robbie Murdoch, and young Alexander managed to pull his uncle Kenny through to the men’s doubles title despite a cracking effort from opponents Joe O’Donnell and Sandy (no relation) Wilson. Alexander Wilson was in searingly good form and also secured the Mens’ Singles title for the second year in a row, defeating former champion Campbell McCulloch in the process. 2

Sandy Wilson’s compensation for the pain of his Gents Doubles defeat came in partnership with Val Lawrence in the mixed doubles – they just had enough to edge out Joseph Reid and an understandably flagging Liz in a really competitive mixed doubles final. The quality and 5 competition were 4 intense throughout.

Football Training

Tuesday & Thursday nights at Johnstone High School astro between 6pm and 9pm - football training for players of all age groups & abilities. For further details please contact Ali McMaster on 07775 578795, email Glentyanthistlefc@gmail.com or visit our website on www.glentyanthistle. co.uk

Possibly the other match of the day was a two hour epic in the Senior Ladies doubles. Jan Torrance and Isobel Evans edged past Pat Erasmus and Sandra Winter to get their names on the Shield. The Boys Under 14 singles, saw Alexander Davies triumph over Keir McNair, bringing to an end a losing streak of seven successive losses in finals for the Davies family.
