Family Fun Day On Sunday 5th July the Club held a Family Fun Day and, despite the torrential rain at the start of the afternoon, 70 children and their families had a wonderful time. 2 bouncy castles proved to be a big success and the roofs kept the children almost dry!! The face painting was popular with all ages, including the Captain Alan Gordon, who ended up with half the face of a tiger. Perhaps the whole face would have scared too many people away! Entertainment was provided inside and when the rain went off there was a lot of activity on the putting green.

“No diet will ever work unless we change the guilt ridden relationship with food”
A few weeks ago I travelled to Manchester to attend a seminar with one of the top men in my industry – Phil Learney. He put up on the screen the above quote and I thought it was excellent and so true! I linked it back to my own clients; when on a Monday morning they come into their session and one of the first things they want to do is tell me if they have eaten badly over the weekend, had a takeaway or been out drinking. They feel guilty about it and want to tell me they had done it. Should they feel guilty? No.

What some people class as a bad food, others don’t. Technically there are no good or bad foods – it is all just food. Food is a fuel, and just like a car needs petrol/diesel to go, the body needs food to fuel it to move and function.

exhibit with it. Yes, if someone opens a pack of digestive biscuits and can sit and eat the whole pack in one go, with no real desire to stop – then this is a bad food – for them! However this is only because they lack control around eating it. If they can open the pack, have 1 or 2 and stop, then there is no real issue with it. Everyone tends to have different foods that they exhibit little or no control over, and this control then varies from individual to individual. I learned a lot on my seminar; a lot of things I can utilise to help people. It is not as clear cut as you may think, not as easy to just ask and get people to stop eating the foods in their diet that they lack control over, or more commonly known as ‘their unhealthy foods’. There are so many other factors involved that if taken into account at the onset will help to stop people rebounding back to their old habits.
