It’s been 90 years, a long love story begun with the Franceschi (after Achille and Nella, their children Guido and Nevio took over) and continued since 1977 under the patient and strong guidance of Gherardo and Carla Guidi. It’s thanks to the Guidi family that the locale still bears the name La Capannina “di Franceschi,” so guests can always remember how it all began. Everyone passed through these doors in its heyday, from Edith Piaf to Armando Trovajoli, Bruno Quirinetta to Ray Sugar Robinson to Perez Prado. But a clear chronology confirms that the Guidi family has expertly taken the reins of this wonderful place, one of the most historic dance clubs in Europe. That’s because Gherardo Guidi added to this “night-time” history by inviting Ray Charles, Grace Jones and Kid Creole & the Coconuts, bringing a taste of the sea. Capannina has hosted Carnevale parties, the finals of the Premio Satira (every year from 1973 to 2017) and high-end awards like A tavola sulla spiaggia. This vitality is today demonstrated in the book published by Gruppo Editoriale, cultivating the memory of times to come.

Nata con i Franceschi (dopo gli anni di Achille e della signora Nella, venne l’era dei figli Guido e Nevio) e, dal 1977, esaltata dalla paziente e solida guida di Gherardo e Carla Guidi. Sì, perché se passando sul lungomare si legge ancora oggi “La Capannina di Franceschi” è grazie alla famiglia Guidi che non ha mai voluto dimenticare come tutto ebbe inizio. Ci sono passati tutti da questo locale. Edith Piaf, Armando Trovajoli, Bruno Quirinetta, Ray Sugar Robinson, Perez Prado negli anni dell’affermazione. Ma una chiara cronologia certifica che nessuno come i Guidi ha saputo tenere così a lungo le redini di questa meravigliosa signora che è anche il locale da ballo con più storia di tutta l’Europa. E certo Gherardo Guidi ha saputo impreziosire questa narrazione notturna, scritturando a sua volta Ray Charles, Grace Jones, Kid Creole & the Coconuts, portando Sapore di mare. Ospitando da gran signore feste di Carnevale, serate finali del Premio Satira (ininterrottamente dal 1973 al 2017), premiazioni di qualità come A tavola sulla spiaggia.
