9 Luglio 2014 Numero 04 e quinto capitolo del nostro magazine, a chiusura del primo ciclo, in uscita proprio appena prima della pausa estiva. Formato pocket e non si parla di lavoro? Vi illustro il pensiero che ho condiviso con il mio team. Approfittando di scienze diverse, passando dalla metafisica alla climatologia, del concetto di pausa si può dibattere a lungo ed è anche facile parlare della definizione di estivo. I due termini insieme però, iniziano ad apparirmi sempre più come una dissonanza linguistica. Nella nostra professione, e non solo nella nostra, si è dissolto quello che era l’elemento unificante, cioè la coincidenza temporale. L’estate è comunque sempre lì, forse cambiata nell’aspetto e nella luce (Milano in questi giorni ha un clima paragonabile a Martinica nella stagione delle piogge). La pausa invece, (non oso chiamarla vacanza) è diventata un frammento, un’aspirazione, un tentativo. Da qui l’idea di fare una rivista estiva, fatta di raffinatissimi giochi pensati ed illustrati da noi, che i più fortunati, approfittando del formato, potranno portarsi in una assolata spiaggia, mentre i più sfortunati come me, sempre approfittando del formato, su un aereo diretto verso un’ affollata metropoli, ovviamente per ragioni di lavoro.

Number 04, our magazine’s fifth issue, closes the first cycle before the summer break. A pocket-size format and not even work related? Below the idea I shared with my team. Taking advantage of different sciences, from metaphysics to climatology, you can spend quite some time debating about the meaning of break, especially when related to summer.

However, both terms together begin to sound more and more like a linguistic dissonance. This is due to the fact that their strongest unifying element, namely time coincidence, is no more. Not only in our field! Either way, summer is with us again. It may have changed its appearance (Milan these days feels more like Martinique during the rainy season), but it is here. The break, however, (I stopped referring to it as a vacation long time ago) has become a fragment, an aspiration, an attempt. And this is exactly why we came up with our special summer edition, a collection of super-refined games, designed and illustrated by us. Profiting from the pocket-size format the lucky ones among you may bring it along a dreamy, sunny beach. For the not so fortunate ones, like myself, it may come handy as entertainment on an exhausting long-haul flight to an extremely busy metropolis and not for vacation. Enjoy,

TRAVEL TIPS Le vacanze estive stanno per arrivare.

Abbiamo raccolto alcuni consigli che vi aiuteranno a preparare un kit di viaggio degno di MacGyver.

With the summer vacations coming up we manage to gather some great travel tips which will help you turn into the MacGyver of the vacation set.

Curate le vostre piante anche quando siete fuori città. Realizzate il vostro sistema d’innaffiamento automatico riempiendo un vaso d’acqua. Utilizzando un tubo di gomma fissatene un’estremità nel vaso adagiandola sul fondo. Piantate poi l’altro capo nella terra del vaso a una profondità di circa 8 centimetri.

Take care of your house plants while you are away. Make your own automatic watering system by filling a vase with water. Using a nylon cord place one end in the vase touching the bottom. Place the other end into the soil of your potted plant about 8 centimetres deep.

COME CHIUDERE UNA VALIGIA SENZA SALTARCI SOPRA:

1. Riempite al massimo la vostra valigia arrotolando i vostri indumenti come se fossero una tortilla farcita invece di utilizzare il metodo di piegatura tradizionale.

2. Infilate le vostre collane in altrettante cannucce per evitare che si ingarbuglino. Tagliate le cannucce secondo la lunghezza desiderata.

3. Quando preparate il vostro beauty case svitate il tappo di ogni flacone e coprite il foro con la pellicola per alimenti, quindi chiudete riavvitando il tappo.

Questo eviterà che le bottiglie si aprano durante il viaggio.

4. Risparmiate spazio trasferendo crema da giorno e/o fondotinta nelle custodie per le lenti a contatto.

5. Mettete i batuffoli di cotone e i dischetti struccanti nella vostra trousse per evitare che i trucchi si rompano nel trasporto.

I PEZZI IMMANCABILI:

6. Termos: quelli con l’imboccatura larga sono ideali per trasportare oggetti fragili come souvenir e occhiali da sole.

Durante il viaggio può essere usato come bicchiere ecofriendly.

Ottimo per nascondere oggetti di valore, non salta all’occhio di un potenziale ladro.

7. Sciarpa/foulard: Elemento multi-uso può essere usata come asciugamano, pezzetta per pulire le lenti degli occhiali, maschera da mettere sugli occhi, elastico per i capelli, fascia, pezza rinfrescante se inumidita. Oggetto estremamente versatile si presta anche per fare un cuscino se arrotolata e stretta attorno a una felpa, può servire inoltre per legare al collo un braccio slogato. Se cercate come trasportare i vostri effetti personali si trasforma velocemente in una shopper.

STRATEGIE PER IL VIAGGIO:

8. Vestirsi a strati può essere utile per affrontare improvvisi sbalzi di temperatura (soprattutto quando si viaggia in aereo). Portatevi sempre un paio di calzini e una sciarpa!

9. Se state andando in spiaggia non dimenticate di mettere in borsa il talco. Versatene una piccola quantità sul palmo della mano e sfregate contro la pelle per rimuovere la sabbia.

PACKING TIPS: 1. Fit the most items in your bag by rolling them tightly like a wrap instead of the usual folding method. 2. Thread your necklaces through straws to avoid tangles. Cut the straws to a desired length for better fitting. 3. When packing toiletries, unscrew the lids and cover each opening with a small piece of plastic wrap and then screw the lids back on. This will prevent from bottle opening inside the laggage. 4. Save on space by transfering products like daycream and foundation into a contact lens case. 5. Place cotton balls/pads inside your makeup containers to keep them secure so that they don’t break.

MUST HAVE ITEMS: 6. Travel mug: A thermos with a wide mouth can prevent from damage on trasporting of delicate items (souvenirs, sunglasses etc). During your trip, the mug can be an ecofriendly to-go cup or a great decoy for stashing valuables (a coffee-stained thermos is an unlikely target for thieves). 7. Scurf/bandanna: This item can have multi-uses such as — hand towel, lens cleaner, eye mask, hair tie, headband, scarf, cooling device (when dampened)—but this versatile carry-on can also work in a pinch as a pillow when you tie it around a bundled-up sweater, as a sling for a sprained arm, and even as a hobo handbag to tote your belongings.

TRAVELLING TIPS: 8. Travel dressed using different layers of clothing that will help you when you face change of temperature (usual when you travel by plane), bring a pair of socks and a scarf! 9. If your heading to the beach don’t forget to pack some baby powder. Pour a small amount onto your hands then rub it on your skin to remove sand.

Il più famoso gioco dell’oca, rivisitato da gruppoC14, diventa il gioco del cervo, che va in vacanza, o almeno ci prova..

GIOCATORI / Da 2 a 6 giocatori consigliati.

REGOLE / Solitamente inizia il gioco il giocatore più giovane. Si procederà poi in senso orario. Il prescelto comincerà lanciando un dado e muovendo la propria pedina di un numero di caselle pari al risultato del dado. CASELLE SPECIALI (3 -18 -10) si raddoppia il valore dei dadi al turno successivo/ (5 - 9 - 14) ci si ferma per 1 turno / (12 - 16) si dimezza per difetto il punteggio ottenuto dal dado nel turno successivo / (13) si salta istantaneamente alla casella n°17 / (21) si torna istantaneamente alla casella n°15 / (23) ci si ferma per 2 turni / (25) si torna alla casella n°7.

SCOPO / Per vincere devi raggiungere la casella finale “Holidays start”, ma solo con un lancio esatto. Altrimenti dovrai procedere indietro di tante caselle quanti sono i punti in eccedenza e ritentare al turno successivo.

PLAYERS Recommended for 2 up to 6 players.

RULES / Usually the youngest player starts to play, then the other players proceed clockwise. The chosen one will start by throwing one die and moving his token the number of spaces indicated by the die. SPECIAL SPACES (3-18-10) double the value of the die on the next turn / (5 - 9-14) stop you for a turn / (12 - 16) halve the score of the die on the next turn / (13) sends you to the space n°17 / (21) sends you back to the space n° 15 / (23) stops you for 2 turns / (25) sends you back to the space n°7.

PURPOSE / In order to win you have to land on the final space marked “Holidays start”, only with one perfect throw of the die. Otherwise you will have to go backwards as many spaces as the amount exceeding and try again on the next turn.
