8 Ruta poniente | West route YAXCOPOIL. (Lugar de los álamos verdes): Esta ex hacienda es ahora Parador y Museo Privado. Los muros forman valla a monumental “Arco Doble Morisco” de la entrada. Admire las áreas y el estilo constructivo de las haciendas: amplios salones, techos altos, largos y frescos corredores; decorada con muebles antiguos, óleos. CASA PRINCIPAL, CUARTO DE MÁQUINAS, PLANTA DESFIBRADORA –por cierto con un motor Körtins de 1913– CAPILLA, PISCINA, CUARTO DE PEONES, cuarto con figuras mayas. Entienda el trabajo y la vida, girando alrededor del henequén. Horario de Tours: Todo el año de lunes a Sábado de 8am a 6pm, Domingos de 9am a 5pm. Tarifa: $75 pesos. Descuentos: para visitantes nacionales con identificación. TEMOZÓN SUR. (Lugar del torbellino): En la cima de un posible basamento; casa principal cuyo acceso es vigilado por 2 gárgolas; restaurante que ofrece comida regional e internacional de alta cocina; decoración original como los arcos tallados en madera y preciosa vista. Los cuartos de los peones, ahora de huéspedes, con fina decoración y un jardín interior para que en pri-
vado se dé baños de luna. La recámara principal con alberca propia. CELESTÚN. Maravilloso regalo dieron los dioses a esta zona, pletórica de bellezas naturales. Sobresale como MAR y como RESERVA: hermosa RÍA de aguas bajas y tranquilas, formada por rocas, pequeños islotes, hermosos y anfibios bosques de mangle, por cuyas brechas o túneles trazados a machete, se interna uno en silencio, en paz, hacia las transparentes aguas, limpias y frescas de cenotes, que lo invitan a refrescarse en ellas; paseo inolvidable en pequeña y segura lancha, guiada por moderno maya, marinero respetuoso del entorno, que lo acercará, casi hasta tocarlos, a LOS ROSADOS Y ESBELTOS FLAMENCOS, reunidos por miles, platicando mientras comen y levantando el mágico vuelo de estética y paz increíble; la ISLA DE LOS PÁJAROS, lugar de reunión, de fecundidad, de cuna. On your tour through the Ría Celestún you are likely have the opportunity to admire the flamenco, one of the most representative species of its Biosphere.
YAXCOPOIL. (Place of the green poplars): This ex-hacienda is now a tourist stop and private museum. A double Moorish arch marks the entrance. Admire how the haciendas were built, with open rooms, high ceilings, long, breezy corridors, the ornate antique European-style furniture and oil paintings. The hacienda has a MAIN HOUSE, a MACHINE ROOM, with a 1913 Körtins motor, a DEFIBERING PLANT, a POOL, and WORKERS QUARTERS, which have a room with Mayan figures. Learn about work and life on a henequen hacienda. Tours Hours: All year from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm, Sundays from 9am to 5pm. Rate: $75 pesos. Discounts: for domestic visitors with identification. TEMOZÓN SUR. (Place of the whirlwind) Seated atop the possible base of an earlier structure is the Main House, with 2 gargoyles guarding the entrance. This holds a restaurant offering fine regional and international cuisine served under original carved wood arches and with a beautiful view. The workers quarters are now finely decorated guest rooms with interior gardens. The main bedroom has its own pool. CELESTÚN. A gift from the Mayan gods, with endless natural delights. On one side the SEA, and on the other a RESERVE with a shallow, calm LAGOON formed of rocks, small islands and dense mangrove forests. Tunnels cut through the vegetation and take you into the deep silence and peace of nature, with a stop at a cenote with clean, transparent waters. Take the unforgettable tour on a small launch expertly guided by modern-day Maya who respect the environment. They will get you almost close enough to touch the thousands of ROSY FLAMINGOS chattering as they eat and then burst into flight. Also visit the breeding ground at BIRD ISLAND and the almost extraterrestrial PETRIFIED FOREST, one of only 2 or 3 in the world. After enjoying the stunning natural beauty, head to the SEA side to walk on white beaches covered with shells and bathed by gentle waves.
