Il était une fois The Mysterious House of Hoarder Hill, une histoire écrite par Mikki Lish et Kelly Ngai, deux amies de longue date d’Australie.Tout a débuté entre elles il y a huit ans, lorsqu’elles ont été présentées par Douglas, le frère de Kelly, qui avait auparavant travaillé avec Mikki sur certains films. ‘‘Nous avons commencé à explorer l’idée de Hoarder Hill il y a quelques années, mais avons ensuite été tournées vers un autre scénario pour enfants sur lequel nous travaillions’’, racontent-elles. L’histoire initialement appelée ‘‘Hedy Hoarder’’ est tout de même restée dans leur esprit et a fini par devenir leur intérêt principal.
Once upon a time The Mysterious House of Hoarder Hill, a story written by Mikki Lish and Kelly Ngai, two long-time friends from Australia. They were introduced eight years ago by Kelly’s brother Douglas, who had previously worked with Mikki on a few films. ‘‘We began exploring the idea of Hoarder Hill a couple of years ago, but then got side tracked with another children’s screenplay that we were working on,’’ they both say. The story initially called ‘‘Hedy Hoarder’’ kept rising back into their consciousness and it ended up being their primary focus.
‘‘Il s’agissait au départ de deux enfants qui atterrissaient dans une maison abandonnée tenue par un thésauriseur, et parmi son tas de propriétés, ils déterrent la magie’’, indique Mikki sur leur idée initiale pour ce projet prometteur. ‘‘Nous avons eu des réponses avant même que les gens connaissent vraiment l’histoire. Nous avons travaillé l’idée originale autour de cela et avons décidé que c’était un peu trop sombre et complexe pour les enfants, donc nous avons dû trouver une autre raison pour que nos jeunes personnages soient attirés vers cet endroit rempli d’objets magiques’’, ajoute Kelly. A présent, vous savez comment cette aventure a débuté. Et la bandeannonce qu’elles ont sortie début septembre prouve assurément qu’elles ont parcouru un long chemin avec leur histoire. Aujourd’hui, elles sont fières de nous présenter l’oeuvre qu’elles ont adaptée avec une chaleureuse et talentueuse équipe. ‘‘It began as two children who stumbled into a derelict house owned by a hoarder, and amongst those hoarded possessions they unearthed magic,’’ Mikki tells about their initial idea for this exciting project. ‘‘People responded to it before they even really knew what the story was. We thrashed the original idea around and we decided it was a bit too dark and tricky for kids, so we had to come up with another reason for our young characters to be drawn to this place full of magical objects,’’ Kelly adds. From now on, you know how all this journey started off. And the trailer that they released early September certainly proves that they have come a long way with their story. Today they are proud to introduce us the work they adapted, surrounded by a talented and loving team.
