GCC LAUNCH

Please plan to join us for GCC Launch, May 12-23! This asynchronous online program is designed to help new students prepare for the transition to Grove City College. Watch for daily emails containing links to short videos designed to provide you with insight into the life of the College and helpful insight as you prepare for the fall. You’ll be welcomed by campus leaders, be challenged to engage and thrive as a student, and gain insight into being part of our community. We’ll also address the life of the mind, academic support, living together in community, and practical topics like buying textbooks, working with Financial Services, and details concerning the tablet computer you’ll be provided by the College.

Look for these daily emails in your GCC email inbox beginning Monday, May 12. We encourage you to make reviewing these videos, and any related information we provide, a daily habit during this time. We also encourage you to reach out to the presenters and their colleagues with questions. It’s our hope that doing so will aid in your successful transition to our campus community, and it will only take ten or fifteen minutes a day.

SAVE THE DATE: Wednesday, April 23 8-9 pm

Grove City College has a rich history of peer mentorship. Join us for this virtual event where some of GCC’s best and brightest students share tips, tricks, and perspectives for thriving during your college experience. Come ready with your questions!

Real Life: The GCC Experience As Told By Your Peers

FINANCIAL AID

OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIP POLICIES

• You are required to send copies of all award letters or notifications for all awards received apart from the College (e.g., monetary awards from private groups, churches, etc.) to the College’s Financial Aid Office immediately upon receipt. You may also scan them and send them via email to financialaid@gcc.edu.

• Outside awards will not reduce awards given by the College unless the total of all awards exceeds the calculated cost of attendance.

• When a scholarship check is received at home AND made payable to the student only, you must send a copy of the check and award letter to the Financial Aid Office. You may also scan and email it to financialaid@gcc.edu.

• Because of the implications for other financial aid, all scholarships from outside sources will be divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. In order for a scholarship check to be applied entirely to one semester and not divided equally between semesters, the Financial Aid Office must be notified in writing by the donor prior to or at the time of receipt of the funds by Grove City College. Once a scholarship check is received and applied to your account for the fall and spring semesters, no changes can be made.

• The Financial Aid Office must receive written notification each year of all outside scholarships you are expecting. Your student account will not reflect a reduction by scholarship until received by the College. If the Financial Aid Office has received written notification prior to the payment deadline, the scholarships will be shown as pending on your student account statement and can be deducted from your payment. Any amount due over and above the scholarship amount must be paid by the payment deadline in order to avoid a late payment fee. All scholarships must be received by September 30 or the account will become subject to late payment fees.

• Questions regarding scholarships should be directed to the Financial Aid office at 724-458-3300 or financialaid@gcc.edu.

LOANS

• Federal student loans cannot be accepted at Grove City College, but most banks, credit unions, and other private lenders have student loans that may be used.

• Private student loan applications are available after April 1, 2025. Please allow at least three weeks for processing so that the loan can be ready for College certification by the August 1, 2025 payment deadline.

• When applying for a private student loan, request the loan amount for the entire academic year. The actual amount disbursed for credit towards each semester will be half of the approved loan amount.

• Missing or incomplete information will cause delays in your loan application and disbursement.

Questions regarding private student loans should be directed to the Financial Aid Office at 724-458-3300 or financialaid@gcc.edu.

STUDENT ACCOUNTS

Your student account reflects tuition, food and housing, course fees, and other charges. Payments and financial aid (scholarships and loans) are recorded as credits that reduce the student account balance. The College considers you financially responsible for your student account. Accordingly, all correspondence is addressed to you (the student) and is sent to your Grove City College email address. If you are receiving financial assistance from a parent or guardian, it is your responsibility to forward to them any correspondence regarding your student account.

Student account statements are only available for viewing online as the College does not send paper statements. Email notification is made to your Grove City email address when statements are ready for the upcoming semester. A list of payment deadlines is on the following page. You can create a separate Parent Portal Account for your parent(s) or guardian(s) in order for them to access your student account, financial aid, housing, and registration information. Instructions on how to create a Parent Portal Account are located under Quick Links on myGCC and can be found in our FAQ section.

ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF PAYMENT

Electronic check (e-check) payments may be made by using your bank’s nine-digit routing number and bank account number. There is no fee to make an e-check payment; the payment is simply withdrawn from your checking account the following business day. Please note that you must use the bank routing number and account number and NOT your debit card number.

For credit and debit card payments, a convenience fee applies (the fee goes directly to CASHNet Transact, our third-party payment processor and does not benefit the College). E-check and credit/debit cards can only be accepted as outlined below and cannot be processed over the phone.

If you are unable to pay online, you may submit your cash, check, or money order at the Student Accounts Window, 2nd floor of Crawford Hall, during business hours. Checks or money orders should be made payable to Grove City College and include your (the student’s) name and ID number on the check and in any correspondence. When mailing, send to: Student Accounts, Grove City College, 100 Campus Drive, Grove City, PA 16127. Please allow ample time for mailing as the payment must process through the campus mailroom and be received in our office by the payment deadline. A Mailing Payment Form can also be found on myGCC under Financial on the Student Accounts page.

The College also accepts tuition savings/529 plan payments to pay for all or a portion of your charges. Please contact your plan directly at least three weeks ahead of a payment deadline to request that the funds be issued by check to the College. Checks should be made payable to Grove City College with a notation in the memo line of your student ID number and mailed to Grove City College, Student Accounts, 100 Campus Dr., Grove City, PA 16127. Any amount due over and above the disbursement amount must be paid by the payment deadline in order to avoid a late payment fee.

ANNUAL FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AGREEMENT AND HEALTH INSURANCE SUBMISSION FORM

Beginning May 1 each year, all undergraduate students are required to submit this form. Students enrolling in the fall will need to submit the form by July 15. Newly enrolling students in the spring need to submit by December 15. The form will require students to provide a plan for payment, be advised of payment deadlines, provide health insurance status/information, and review financial terms and conditions of being enrolled at GCC. The form is located on myGCC under the Financial tab on the Student Accounts page in the Forms section.

As a matter of College policy, all full-time students (12 credits or more) must annually demonstrate health insurance coverage in order to attend Grove City College. For those students not covered under an alternative insurance plan (via a parent, guardian, etc.), the College has partnered with UnitedHealthcare to offer a Student Health Insurance Plan. Coverage under this plan runs from August 15, 2025 to August 14, 2026. Students not completing the form before the fall semester billing occurs may be automatically charged the cost of annual coverage under the College plan. The charge will be refunded within 1-2 business days if the student waives coverage by completing and fully submitting the form which includes a step to upload private insurance documentation. Payment to purchase the College Student Health Insurance Plan is due in full by August 1, 2025, with the fall semester payment. The cost will be published in late spring.

CRIMSON CASH

All students have a Crimson Cash Account which is a voluntary, prepaid debit account on the GCC ID Card. The Crimson Cash Account is completely separate from the Student Account, and funds are only transferred between them upon request. The account may be used to pay for purchases at participating campus locations (Bookstore, Food Service locations including Chick-fil-A, Print Services, Registrar) up to the amount of the prepaid card account balance. The Bookstore offers a 5% discount on all purchases when using Crimson Cash. The funds deposited on your Crimson Cash Account do not expire, and unused funds are returned to you upon graduation or withdrawal. Please refer to the Crimson Cash Agreement on the portlet for complete details.

To deposit funds to your Crimson Cash Account, log in to myGCC using your ID number and password. Under Financial - My Account Info, click on the Go to CASHNet link and select “Add Money” button under “Would you like to add money to your Crimson Cash Account?” The same options of e-check (no fee) and credit/debit card (convenience fee applies) available for student account payments are also available for Crimson Cash deposits. Cash, checks, or money orders are accepted at the Student Accounts Window on the 2nd floor of Crawford Hall. Checks or money orders payable to Grove City College can be mailed to: Student Accounts, 100 Campus Drive, Grove City, PA 16127 with a notation in the memo line of Crimson Cash and the student ID number.

To view your Crimson Cash balance and eventually your meal plan usage, use the link to the eAccounts website or install the mobile app using the QR code both located on myGCC under Financial - Crimson Cash portlet.

Payment to purchase the College Student Health Insurance Plan is due in full by August 1, 2025 with the fall semester payment. The cost will be published in late spring.

Does Grove City College have payment plans?

No, the College does not offer payment plans. Some families choose to make monthly payments to the student’s account in advance with the final payment made by the payment deadline for each semester. While the College does not accept or certify any loans under the Federal Direct Student Loan Program (Student or Parent Programs), most large banks or loan companies offer private, alternative student loans to qualified borrowers. There is additional information on student loans on www.gcc.edu or you can contact the Financial Aid Office at FinancialAid@gcc.edu or (724)458-3300 to discuss loan options.

Does Grove City College accept tuition savings/529 plan funds?

Yes, the College accepts all tuition savings/529 plans. Please contact your plan directly once you are notified your student account statement is available online but no later than three weeks prior to the payment deadline to ensure the funds arrive in a timely manner. Request a check payable to Grove City College be mailed to Grove City College, Student Accounts, 100 Campus Dr., Grove City, PA 16127 with a notation in the memo line of the student’s name and ID#. Any additional balance due over and above the 529 disbursement amount must be paid by the payment deadline to avoid a late payment fee.  You will tell us the details of your expected tuition savings plan payment when completing the Financial Responsibility Agreement and Health Insurance Submission Form.

What is Crimson Cash?

Crimson Cash is a declining balance account attached to your student Crimson ID card that can be used around campus for purchases at the College Bookstore, Student Union or at the cafeterias. Discounts are offered for purchases at the College Bookstore when paying with Crimson Cash. Funds can be added via the myGCC student portal with either your student login or a parent portal login (information below). Cash, checks, or money orders are accepted in the Student Accounts Office, 2nd floor of Crawford Hall during business hours. Will my parents be notified when my

tuition

is due?

No, the College communicates directly with you, the student. It is your responsibility to forward information to your parents/guardians as necessary. Notifications are made to your GCC email account when charges have been added to your Student Account. No paper statements are mailed. All communications include instructions on how to generate an online statement, how to pay and a reminder to forward the email notification to anyone who is assisting you financially. Please be on the lookout for our emails and pay close attention to the payment deadlines as unpaid balances are subject to monthly late payment fees. Our office is always willing to assist parents and students with questions via email at StudentAccounts@gcc.edu or phone at (724)458-2209.

What if I work away from home all summer?

You should complete the request process for a Parent Portal (discussed below) so your parent can access your information and make payments on your account. Fall semester bills are typically available the last week in June each year. It is important to plan ahead with your parents to access your bill and make your payment to avoid late payment fees and collection calls. A detailed list of payment deadlines was included with the tuition rate letter, included in your Admitted Student Day packet, and is available on the Financial tab - Student Accounts page on myGCC.

Can my parents still see my account statement and make payments?

Only if you request a separate parent portal login using the steps below. Be sure to submit your request well ahead of the first payment deadline as it can take up to 10 business days depending on the volume

of requests. This login option is for parents/guardians only and should not be requested for financial institutions or advisors.

You’ll have seamless access to important resources like high-end software, campus-wide wireless access as well as dedicated in-room wireless and wired networking in the residence halls. If you need repairs, new parts, or assistance with software installation, TLC staff are always there for you.

EMPOWERING COLLABORATION

From in-class discussions to weekly assignments and group projects, you will use the same network as professors and peers, which increases connectivity and empowers collaboration in and out of the classroom. Not only does this environment bolster the strength of our academic programs, it will also prepare you for the world of work — where the ability to use technology effectively and efficiently alongside your colleagues is typically preferred or required.

There is no cost for any services, appointments, or supplies obtained through the health center with the exception of allergy injections. Any services obtained outside of the health center (e.g. lab work or x-rays) are the student’s financial responsibility.

REQUIRED FORMS: The College requires all new students (freshmen and transfers) to provide a completed health form by August 1. The health form includes a physical exam and a record of immunizations, and it must be signed by your physician or PA/NP. Please visit gcc.edu/medforms to download the medical forms that must be submitted prior to August 1. Please mail these forms directly to: Zerbe Health and Wellness Center, 100 Campus Drive, Grove City College, Grove City, PA 16127. Do not email or fax! Feel free to email questions regarding these forms and/or health issues to gordonzc@gcc.edu. The Health Center is closed during the months of June and July but email will be checked and should be responded to within 48 hours. We’d encourage you to share this information with your parents and to get an early start.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Maintaining student confidentiality is an important priority at the health center. Each student has a medical record that is kept in a locked file cabinet in a locked room. Health center staff may not share any information regarding your health care or records with anyone without your written consent (including professors and staff, as well as parents if you are over 18).

MEDICAL EXCUSE POLICY

The health center typically does not issue medical excuses for absence. If you are unable to attend class because of a health-related issue, you should notify your professor in advance and make arrangements to complete missed work or exams. In instances when the nurse, PA, or physician believes the severity of your illness merits an absence, a medical excuse will be issued. However, it would still be your responsibility to notify your professor(s) as soon as possible.

If you have an appointment outside of the health center causing you to miss a class or activity, you should notify your professor in advance and obtain written verification of your visit with that outside health facility during your visit.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

If you have any chronic or ongoing health problems, you should request that your personal health care provider forward pertinent information to the health center to be included in your medical record. It may be sent with your health form, sent separately to the health center by mail (see contact information below), or faxed.

Students experiencing any health-related issues that may require physical or academic accommodation should contact the Assistant Director of Disability Services, located in the Academic Resource Center in Henry Buhl Library on the lower level.

HOUSING ASSIGNMENTS: POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

In seeking to maintain a Christ-centered living and learning environment, Grove City College puts great value on the intellectual, social, moral, spiritual, and emotional development of our students. We affirm that students thrive within the context of deep-rooted community and that the communal nature of these formative years genuinely enhances the undergraduate experience. Thus, all full-time students are required to live on campus unless they fall under one of the following exceptions:

• Commuter: Students may commute from their parent or guardian’s full-time legal place of residence, provided that the residence is located within a 40-mile radius of Grove City College.

• Marriage: Grove City College does not provide housing for married couples. As a result, married students simply need to provide confirmation of their marital status in order to live off campus.

• Medical: Students may qualify to live off campus based on a documented medical condition which clearly demonstrates the need for off-campus housing.

• Military: Students returning to Grove City College from active duty in the armed forces may opt to live off campus. This exception is limited to those students coming directly from deployment to campus at the start of a semester.

• Over the age of 23: Students who will be 23 years of age, or older, prior to the scheduled first day of fall classes may opt to live off campus. Students should not assume they may live off campus for the spring semester if they have chosen to live on campus in the fall.

• Over the age of 25: Students who are 25 years of age, or older, prior to the scheduled first day of fall classes are required to live off campus.

• Part-time: The College does not provide housing for those with part-time student status (11 credits or fewer per semester).

• Super-senior: Students who have attended four or more years (eight semesters) of undergraduate education, (including time abroad and/or at other colleges or universities), are permitted to live off campus.

HOUSING FOR NEW STUDENTS

New students are asked to complete the Housing Application between May 5 and 15. Students will be given a timeslot assignment to select a room based on their housing application date. Housing selection will occur between May 19 and May 22. If you miss your timeslot assignment, please contact studenthousing@gcc.edu.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Students with a special need or disability that necessitates specific housing arrangements should contact the Disability Services Office at DisabilityServices@gcc.edu.

HOUSING APPLICATION & ROOMMATE SELECTION INSTRUCTIONS

The Housing Selection process is located on my.gcc.edu. Your myGCC login information will be sent via email on May 2. If you deposit after May 2, it will be emailed a few days after you submit your deposit.

1. Log in to My.GCC.edu. (login info will be sent via email May 2).

2. Click on the “Student Life & Learning” tab.

3. Click on the “Housing Selection - New Students” tab on the left hand side of the screen.

Step 1 – Housing Application

Available - Monday, May 5, 2025

The completed housing application is required before you are able to select a roommate or a room. The application contains the housing contract, emergency contact information, and living preferences (bedtime, waketime, temperature, etc.) which will show up on the Roommate Finder Report.

Step 2 – Roommate Selection

Available - Monday, May 5, 2025

Once you have completed your housing application, you will be able to search through the Roommate Finder Report to view other new students who have completed the housing application. If you find someone you would like to room with, you can send him/her an email through your GCC email account (search their name in the global address list to find their email address).

If you find someone to room with, send him/her a roommate request. He/she will need to log into my.gcc.edu and confirm the request. Once you confirm each other, you will be able to sign up for housing together at Room Selection. NOTE: You will not be able to find someone in the system until he/she has completed a housing application. If you know someone but do not see his/her name, check with him/her to confirm whether he/she completed the housing application yet.

Step 3 – Room Selection

Available - Monday, May 19, 2025

On Friday, May 16, you will be emailed with a timeslot for housing selection. On that date/time you will be able to sign into Step 3 and choose a room for you and your confirmed roommates. You will choose the term from the dropdown and then select a building/room. NOTE: There is no end to your time slot. Once your date/time has come, you can sign up any time after it (i.e. if you are busy at that time you can sign up later that evening or the next day).

Timeslots are organized by housing application date, so make sure you complete the housing application as soon as possible.

All freshmen rooms are the same relative size and location so there isn’t a major advantage of having an earlier timeslot. NOTE: Numbers are also mixed between genders so if you are #400 that doesn’t mean 400 male students will choose a room before you.

If you deposit after May 2, you will still choose your own room. Once your deposit is processed and you are given your school email account, you will be able to fill out your housing application and choose a room immediately.

If you have any questions, please contact the Student Life & Learning Office at 724-458-2171.

HOW TO CHOOSE A ROOMMATE – MYTHS

Myth 1: Friends from home make the best roommates!

Sometimes this can be the case, but often it is not. The reality is that you will grow and likely change during your college years. Sometimes rooming with someone new provides the opportunity to grow in ways that rooming with someone more familiar would not permit. In addition, living every day with someone is different than attending classes with him/her in high school or hanging out on the weekends.

Myth 2: I should room with someone who is interested in the same things as me!

Although we all want to live with someone who shares our taste in music, movies, or sports allegiances, those characteristics are not predictors of successful roommate relationships! The most important indicators of a potentially good roommate relationship are almost always living habits. Factors such as cleanliness, sleep schedules, socializing habits, etc. are most important in determining whether or not students will live well together.

Myth 3: My roommates and I will be best friends!

We would love to see you and your roommate(s) become best friends. However, even if you’re not especially tight as friends, you could still live well together! In fact, many successful roommate relationships are forged between individuals who, despite their differences in friend groups, deeply respect each other and have similar living habits. No matter how compatible you feel early on, we encourage you to talk about relational expectations prior to becoming roommates. Keep in mind that much of your first year will be unpredictable, so be ready to adapt when it comes to expectations.

Myth 4: I have to choose a roommate before Room Selection.

Not at all! The only thing we ask is that you complete the Housing Application when it becomes available.

Myth 5: I have to room with someone who is in my major.

Sometimes rooming with someone in your major works out well as you can help each other study and collaborate on class projects. In addition, it will leave you with at least one thing in common... your major! However, it is important to note that this consideration should ALWAYS come second to living habits in your evaluation of a potential roommate. The other thing worth noting is that if you are rooming with someone in your major, you will most likely have similar class schedules and similar exam schedules, meaning that it is possible you will have less solo time in your room and that your roommate’s high stress times will be the same as yours. At times this can prove to yield an unproductive roommate situation.

Myth 6: If I end up in a triple/quad room, I will have a harder first-year experience than those placed in double rooms.

This couldn’t be further from the truth! There is no difference in the academic performance of those living in doubles and those living in triples or quads. The beauty of a triple or quad is that you now have two or three roommates to help you navigate the first few weeks of school, to go to meals with, etc.

Myth 7: I have to buy all the dorm supplies that I see in Target!

Remember that students have been living in residence halls for a hundred years and room sizes haven’t changed much. What has changed is the amount of stuff students bring to college with them. It is important to really consider what you “need” at college versus what you “want” at college. Remember, you will be sharing this space with others. For many of you, you will be sharing a room for the first time, and although you may prefer to have your own fridge, your own microwave, etc., the quality of your residence hall experience will be greatly enhanced if you and your roommates can agree on sharing certain items, especially larger ones such as fridges and microwaves. A minimalist approach is best.

Myth 8: We had great conversations over the summer, so this roommate thing is going to be a breeze!

We hope so, but the reality is that all good relationships take time, commitment, and investment. There is no “perfect” roommate relationship. Feelings will be hurt, compromises will need to be made, and apologies extended. This reality is part of the great privilege it is to live on campus — we get to be a part of each other’s maturing and development. Relationships are one of the greatest incubators for learning! So, don’t get discouraged if living with someone is hard — it will be at times, but know that most good things come with challenges!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When will I receive my housing assignment?

Room selection happens in late May. After that, any students who did not select a room will be free to choose any remaining room slots during June/July. In August, the Student Life & Learning staff will manually place anyone who has not signed up for a room. Students will be able to see their housing assignments on myGCC once they select a room.

Am I automatically assigned a meal plan?

All students are required to participate in a meal plan, except those students who reside off campus and those who live in the Colonial Hall Apartments.

Is it possible to come to campus prior to the scheduled arrival time?

Only members of athletic teams and those student employees and organization members who have been approved to return early may arrive before the scheduled date. We must adhere to this guideline in order to facilitate the completion of scheduled renovation projects, summer housing transition, and final preparation for students’ arrival.

Can I stay on campus during break periods?

All students are expected to leave campus when the residence halls are closed for scheduled breaks (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring). Athletes and other students who are approved to stay on campus during a break may be required to relocate to a residence hall that will be open for break housing. Due to security/safety and staffing issues, each student intending to reside on campus during break MUST have a legitimate reason for needing to be in residence. The following are legitimate reasons:

• International student with no family residing in the U.S. or limited funding.

• Athlete with sport obligations over break.

• Research student with required work to be completed over break.

• Student employee with break obligations tied to an on-campus job.

• Participant in a sponsored leadership or academic program.

What if I am having difficulty getting along with my roommate?

Adjusting to a new roommate is a process that involves time and effort. First, we encourage you to try to talk with your roommate about any issues or concerns. If this is unsuccessful, then feel free to contact your Resident Assistant (RA) or Resident Director (RD) for assistance. Room changes are permitted only after all other options have been considered and ruled out.

Is there access to an airport or bus station?

The College has an airport shuttle during breaks such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, and the beginning and end of each semester. Check myGCC for shuttle times and dates prior to making travel arrangements. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Refunds will not be issued for those canceling shuttle services within two weeks of a scheduled reservation.

How are the residence halls cleaned and maintained?

Housekeeping services are not provided for student rooms, suites, private baths, or suite baths. Students are responsible for cleaning and maintaining these areas. All public areas and public bathrooms are serviced regularly.

GROVE CITY COLLEGE VEHICLE POLICY

The Campus Safety Department mission is to maintain a safe and secure campus environment that is conducive to academic, social, and spiritual growth. The department is primarily responsible for ensuring a safe and secure campus community. However, maintaining a safe community requires a cooperative effort between safety personnel and every member of the student body, faculty, staff, and administration. Every individual should take responsibility for his or her own safety and should immediately report any suspicious person or activity to the Campus Safety Department. In any community, involved and concerned citizens are the most effective means of preventing crimes from occurring.

TRAFFIC AND VEHICLE REGULATIONS

The privilege of maintaining a vehicle on campus is extended to all residential students and commuters, including incoming new students. To ensure the safe and efficient use of campus parking and traffic facilities, all vehicle operators are required to comply with the following regulations. These regulations are enforced 24 hrs/day 7 days/week.

VEHICLE REGISTRATION

All vehicles must be registered with Campus Safety. Unregistered vehicles that are parked on campus may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense at any time. Permits are available 24 hrs/day 7 days/week via the Parking Permit Application on https://my.gcc.edu/ics/.

Students are permitted only one vehicle on campus at any time, and permits are not transferable between vehicles or persons. Students may not register a vehicle belonging to another student unless the second student is a member of their immediate family. If changing primary vehicles or enrollment status (commuter to resident), the original permit, or remnants thereof, must be returned to Campus Safety. Upon receipt, a new permit will be issued at no charge.

Decals must be permanently affixed with their own adhesive backing to the driver’s side of the rear bumper, or to the outer surface of the rear window in the lower left-hand corner. Registration Fees for full academic year: $150 (If purchased before January 1), spring semester: $75 (If purchased after January 1) and, a temporary permit: $2 per day/$10 per week. No charge for students with current registration. Decal Replacement Fee: $150 ($75 Spring) and no fee if old decal is returned. The vehicle registration process is not considered complete until the permit is properly affixed to your vehicle. NOTE: Vehicle violations will be billed to the student’s account if warnings or citations for failure to register one’s vehicle are ignored.

PARKING REGULATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS

Parking areas are designated by printed signs. Parking is permitted only in these designated parking areas on campus. If a location is not designated for student parking, it is a “restricted area.” Parking is not permitted on any roadway, sidewalk, lawn, truck delivery area or in the vicinity of a NO PARKING or RESERVED PARKING sign, fire lane, traffic cone, barricade, or painted curb. Vehicles parked in restricted area are subject to vehicle violations and towing.

Please refer to the Crimson for complete Vehicle and Parking regulations that govern operation and parking of vehicles on Grove City College property.

ACADEMIC RESOURCES

ACADEMIC RESOURCE CENTER

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) provides services to support student learning, achieve academic success, and attain degree completion. The Center serves students through individual academic counseling, study skills coaching, tutoring, services for students with disabilities, early academic intervention, information regarding the policies and requirements of the College Bulletin, and graduation planning assistance.

ARC staff understand that all students learn differently and want to reach success with their academic, personal, and vocational goals. To this end, the staff is dedicated to working with all students who seek assistance from the Center. The ARC includes the offices of Academic Advising, Disability Services, and the Registrar.

ACADEMIC ADVISING

Every student at Grove City College works with a faculty advisor within his or her academic discipline. Students who have entered the College as “undeclared” are advised by the Director or Assistant Director of Academic Advising until they select a major. Our Undeclared Advising Plan (available at http://www. gcc.edu/Home/Academics/Majors-Departments/Undeclared-Liberal-Arts-or- Sciences) offers a four-step process and several resources to assist you in the exploration process.

The Academic Advising Program helps students accomplish their academic, personal, and long-term career goals by providing holistic guidance and support in the decision-making process. The Director and Assistant Director of Academic Advising work with faculty advisors to help students assess and formulate achievable academic goals. Students are strongly encouraged to build a relationship with their advisor and meet with him or her on a regular basis.

ACADEMIC SUCCESS STRATEGIES

The ARC wants to maximize learning for all students and help them grow in the following areas: time management, organization, note-taking, and test-taking. Throughout the year, the ARC offers programs to help students improve their skills in these areas.

Students are invited to schedule an appointment with the Director or Assistant Director of Academic Advising to discuss their unique needs. Tips for academic success and links to additional resources can also be found on the College website at https://www.gcc.edu/ARC.

TUTORING

The ARC coordinates our peer tutoring program, which is free to all enrolled students. Using a program called TutorTrac, students can easily search for a tutor and schedule an appointment. Tutoring is available for specific courses or for help with general study skills. Certain student organizations and academic departments also offer drop-in tutoring sessions. For any enrolled student with a documented disability, the Office of Disability Services is committed to providing reasonable accommodations. Adhering to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and the ADAAA of 2008, the office works to ensure that all students have equal access when it comes to academics, housing, and dietary needs. A disability is identified as a substantial mental or physical impairment that substantially limits one or more life activities. A diagnosis alone does not guarantee accommodations.

Accommodations are provided on a case-by-case basis and include (but are not limited to):

• Extended time for test taking.

• Distraction-reduced environment for test taking.

• Assistive technology (e.g., audio and digital versions of textbooks, opportunity to record lectures).

• Preferential seating.

• Inspired Eats Stations: food made without the major nine allergens.

• Special diet menu: individually prepared meals for individuals with significant dietary restrictions.

• Ground-level residence hall room.

Students who require appropriate and reasonable accommodations must do the following:

Step 1: Complete online student application and submit documentation (which should be as recent as possible, generally within three years). Go to https://www.gcc.edu/ARC, click on the Disability Services link, and select “Request Accommodations.”

Step 2: Attend initial welcome meeting with Director of Disability Services.

Step 3: Determine appropriate accommodation(s) based on student need(s).

Step 4: Self-advocate and work closely with the Disability Services Coordinator and other offices/ professors to effectively utilize approved accommodations.

NOTE: Students who wish to apply for special housing accommodations must submit documentation by the established deadlines.

Housing availability is limited. Please be aware that a housing accommodation may be made at any time, however, submission of documentation does not guarantee your request will be provided. If a request is received during a semester or after the deadline, we cannot guarantee accommodations but will make every effort to meet your needs with available resources. Depending on the time frame, accommodations may be approved during one semester but not put into effect until the following semester.

Any student with a diagnosed disability seeking academic, dietary, or housing accommodations, or who has general inquiries about accommodations, may view our website at https://www.gcc.edu/ARC and click on the Disability Services link.

GROVE CITY COLLEGE CAREER SERVICES

The mission of the Career Services Office (CSO) is to guide students in their realization and pursuit of God’s calling for their lives. We encourage you to go through a four-step career development process which begins with self-assessment during your freshman year.

To aid you in the process of assessment, we provide all freshmen with access to a resource called PathwayU the summer before you start school. You will receive emails regarding PathwayU, and we encourage you to take the four free assessments available to you (personality, skills, interests, and values) and begin looking over careers connected to your assessment outcomes. As you explore careers, you can save those that interest you. Consider narrowing your list down to 5-10 careers and focusing your research on those specific professions!

Additionally, as a student you will have free access to the CliftonStrengths assessment to learn your top five talent themes.

CHRISTIAN FORMATION OFFICE

At Grove City College, we believe Christian formation is a critical component of developing mature, competent graduates. We envision a campus community that is grounded in Christ-centered worship, shaping us individually and corporately. We seek to engage in whole-life discipleship, building up believers with the good news of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Together we are using our gifts and engaging in deep study and loving service to honor the Lord of all and to bear witness to the ends of the earth!

CHRISTIAN FORMATION OFFICE LOCATION AND STAFF

Our offices are centralized in Rathburn Hall, situated next door to Harbison Chapel. Our doors are always open to chat, pray, or answer any questions. During the academic year, our regular office hours are 8 am5 pm but Rathburn Hall remains open until 11 pm for campus ministry meetings and discipleship groups or for a quiet place to pray, find solitude, or study.

The Christian Formation Staff:

• Chaplain and Senior Director of Christian Formation – Don Opitz

• Director of Christian Formation – Virginia West

• Administration and Care Coordinator – Charis Byun

• Worship Ministry Coordinator – Daniel Snoke

• Coordinator of Mentoring and Christian Formation – Carrie Leisher

• Director of Discipleship and Community Engagement – Thomas Biro

WORSHIP AND GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES

Chapel attendance is a required component of the liberal arts education at Grove City College. Grove City College’s Christ-centered chapel services are a central part of a student’s spiritual development. Chapel services seek to challenge all students in their love of God and neighbor and to demonstrate how the Gospel of Jesus Christ applies to all areas of life, from academics to friendships. Our chapel services on Wednesdays include corporate worship, biblical preaching, and Christian testimony. There are also opportunities to be part of the worship team ministry that leads worship on Wednesdays and Fridays. Our Christian formation gatherings on Fridays include five-week-long, educator-led small groups (called “Fivers”), a prayer gathering, and Bible study. The Christian Formation Office also hosts a Faith for Life lecture series on select evenings to foster deeper reflection and conversation on the implications of faith for life and society. The chapel requirement for all full-time undergraduate students is 12 chapel events (including Wednesday worship services, Friday formation gatherings or Fivers, and evening Faith for Life lectures) during each semester.

DISCIPLESHIP AND MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES

Campus Bible Studies and Growth Groups

With support and training from the Christian Formation Office, there are a plethora of opportunities to connect to a campus Bible study in your residence hall, as a part of a campus group, athletic team, or with your friends. Whether you are wanting to lead or merely be involved, there is an opportunity for everyone to glean from the Word, discuss your faith, and find encouragement and support in these spaces.

Women’s Ministry: Deeply Rooted Mentoring Program

• One-on-one mentoring opportunity for freshman female students to be paired with a female upperclassman student mentor.

• Meeting frequently to help the freshman student adjust to college community life.

• Offering support and accountability to grow in relationship with Christ while on campus.

Men’s Ministry: The MENtor Project

• One-on-one discipleship for male students.

• Matches each freshman with a male upperclassman.

• Meeting weekly for discipleship, fellowship, and growth in your relationship with God.

GET INVOLVED IN A MINISTRY GROUP

There are 21 different ministry groups to get involved in at Grove City College. From service groups that spend their time off campus discipling high school youth, to groups spending time with disabled adults, to on-campus groups that meet for fellowship, Bible study, worship, music ministry, and more, there is something for everyone! Learn more about the various opportunities on the Campus Ministries website: www.gcc.edu/campusministries. You will also have opportunities to learn about these groups during Welcome Week.

SHORT-TERM SERVICE AND MISSION TRIP OPPORTUNITIES

Interested in serving on a short-term service trip or a summer-long mission experience while in college? Grove City provides an average of 12 opportunities each year to serve both within the U.S. and abroad. Advertised on campus, these short-term Inter-Community Outreach (ICO) trips take place during the various academic breaks and are open to all students. The Red Box Global Outreach (GO) program provides funding and training for students looking to spend a summer with a Christian mission program or agency. This experience is often instructive in confirming one’s calling into the mission field. Learn more at www. gcc.edu/Home/Faith-Purpose/Christian-Formation/Ministry-Opportunities/Service-Outreach.

SPEND TIME IN PRAYER ROOMS

While college is a wonderful season, it inevitably comes with stress, busyness, and even loneliness at times. As you seek to manage your responsibilities and relationships, we encourage you to make time with the Lord a daily priority. Consider spending time in one of our two prayer rooms on campus. These rooms (located on the second floor of Rathburn Hall and right off the Harbison Chapel entryway) provide a quiet, peaceful place to spend time in silence with the Lord — away from your room and the busyness of campus life. Many other opportunities for worship, prayer and reflection are available every semester.

“Prayer is the exercise of drawing on the grace of God.” – Oswald Chambers

GET INVOLVED IN A LOCAL CHURCH

There are many local congregations who welcome college students and offer opportunities to get involved and serve. We encourage our students to prioritize and value the life-long commitment of being an active member of the local church for their spiritual development and life of service. At the beginning of the year the Christian Formation Office hosts a Campus Ministry and Local Church Fair where you can connect with and learn about local churches. You can also find more information about our local congregations on the GCC website at www.gcc.edu/Home/Faith-Purpose/Christian-Formation/Area-Churches.
