Living the Grand Life Grove, the largest city on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees, is the retail, housing and water sport center for its eastern shores. Accessible to thousands of visitors each year, and with two airports serving the area, Grove is a short 76-mile drive from Tulsa, and a 43-mile drive from Joplin, Missouri. With more shoreline than California (over 1,300 miles), Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees is a popular destination for weekend visitors looking to unwind beside its sparkling waters, and summer travelers making the most of the lake lifestyle. New residents and business owners are welcomed daily in Grove, which boasts a rich and colorful history and an enterprising attitude while retaining small-town traditions, warm hospitality, and solid values. Grove has been rated by Rand McNally, the Wall St., Journal and Retirement Places Rated as one of the top retirement areas in the nation. We are attracting an increasing number of new residents and retirees looking to discover what Living the Grand Life is all about. The rolling hills surrounding Grove and Grand Lake come alive in the spring with breathtaking views of dogwood and redbud trees displayed against dark green native cedars and pines. Grove’s climate is our best-kept secret where everyone enjoys moderate weather with four distinct seasons. The perfect summer setting for long days on the water and viewing magnificent sunsets from the back of a slow cruising boat are enhanced by clear blue skies, clean air and warm temperatures. Fall brings brilliant Ozark foliage colors of crimson, gold and burgundy; brisk morning air and temperate weather, and later the occasional snows of winter add up to Living the Grand Life in Grove.

It is organized into four divisions - Administration, Business Development, Community Development and Membership Development. Each division has selected committees that fall within their area of interest. Committees - A committee system is the most effective means of harnessing the energies and abilities of member volunteers. A committee’s responsibility is to carry out the goals and objectives set forth through the Chamber’s Annual Business Plan. Staff - The administration of the Chamber is governed by the president who is responsible for successful implementation and coordination of programs, services and activities approved by the board of directors.

Financing The Grove Area Chamber of Commerce is funded by the investment of its members and special funding from programs and events. The maintenance of an adequate level of support from businesses and individuals of the community is essential to finance the efforts of the Chamber that are vital to community growth and development. The Chamber’s member investments are designed as a fair share investment program. The investment levels include schedules by number of employees, financial investment levels, non-profit/associate investments, and individual/retired individual investments. The Grove Area Chamber of Commerce also has a Lead Investor Program that allows all members or prospective members to participate in helping underwrite the broadened scope of services provided by the Chamber. What Grove has to Offer

To discover what Living the Grand Life is all about, residents, business owners, retirees, weekend visitors, and summer travelers come to Grove, Oklahoma, on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees. Grove has what it takes to entertain you for a day, a week or a lifetime, whether you are interested in residential living, retirement living or leisure living. In this largest city on Grand Lake, in one of the fastest growing counties in Oklahoma, traditional values and small-town, friendly business owners can still be found. Grand Lake, which surrounds Grove, accommodates a wide variety of water sports including power boating, cruising, sailing, personal watercraft, parasailing and water skiing. Spectacular and fun annual boating events include lighted boat parades, sailing regattas and poker runs. There are locations to rent a boat at local marinas, or consider a new purchase at many of the in-water boat dealers. Considered the best bass fishing lake in Oklahoma, Grand Lake is also the crappie capitol of the world and has the largest population of Paddlefish also known as Spoonbill, in the state of Oklahoma. In addition to being home to white, spotted, small and large mouth bass, white crappie, bluegill, the hybrid striper, and channel catfish. More than 400 fishing tournaments and an expert fishing guide association make catching any of Grand Lake’s game fish simple throughout the year. After a full day of water activities we invite you to dine on an outdoor patio, or enjoy one of the fabulous restaurants in the area.

36

Some of the most delightful gift stores, clothing stores and eateries are housed in historical Grove buildings. Charming antique and specialty shops, home interior and decorative accessories stores are just some of the shopping experiences that can be enjoyed in Grove and around Grand Lake. Annual festivals and downtown celebrations in Grove are some of the most unique and exciting you will find in the State of Oklahoma. the Cayuga mission Church In 1886, Mathias Splitlog began constructing a church of local hewn limestone for his wife, Eliza Splitlog. Today, the Cayuga Mission Church is the only church in Oklahoma, and perhaps in the U.S., which was built by a Native American with his own funds for the religious use of all people. The inside is embellished with beautifully hand-carved imported wood, and 15 stones, each carved with an Indian symbol, form the arched doorway. Although the church was still unfinished when Eliza Splitlog passed away in 1894, her funeral was held in the partially completed building. The bronze bell, cast in Belgium, first tolled in memory of Eliza Splitlog during the dedication in 1896. In 1897, in the church he dreamed of, financed and built, Mathias Splitlog’s mass was held. The faithful are still called to worship today when the old mission bell rings, spring, summer, fall and winter, pealing out over the streams and valleys of what was once the Seneca Nation, now known as the Cowskin area. northeast of Grove on e 260 rd. 26211 S. 670 rd.
