EDITOR'S NOTE

I

am Vera Garcia and at this moment, I am a senior high school graduating STEM student. I am also one of the managing editors of the team Crammers. Our team was established in 2022 with the goal of publishing quality and informative school magazines with the intention of motivating and inspiring students through the experiences of others. As the academic year 2021-2022 comes to an end, it would be great if graduating students will have something that will help them look back on their past student years, providing them more courage and motivation to pursue their dreams as they enter college. It is a rewarding and satisfying feeling to reflect on the difficulties and events that have transpired since the day when these graduating students first began schooling, knowing that they are capable of overcoming the academic hurdles that life offers. The presence of the pandemic made the past 2 academic years more memorable under the online learning environment. Furthermore, due to technological advancements, the transition of schools from face-to-face classes to virtual learning has become possible, allowing the students to continue their education while adhering to the government's safety regulations. The content of the magazine shows the excellency and competency of the senior high school students despite the barriers including the distance they have from their instructors and classmates. The current situation that they are in leads them to be more independent and resourceful which has a positive impact on their academic performance. By: Stephanie Vera C. Garcia

PUSHING EDUCATION TO ITS BOUNDARIES—SOLVING ACADEMIC COMPLICATIONS IN THE 21ST CENTURY STUDY CONCEPT

Contributor KENNETH MACY ESTABILLO

Students have been the hope of every nation. As what they say, "the children are our hope". Up until today, it stays true. According to an article from Habitat for Humanity of Broward, education is a very important part of students' development. Reasons such as employment opportunities, problemsolving skill development, economic improvement, and empowerment are what makes education important. Our group has researched upon the issues on students' learning experiences and have come up with the following: students' lack of motivation, tediousness of education, burdening, and stressful experience are some of the problems that are prevalent in the current learning experience. Given these problems, our group aims to create an interactive online source that will help alleviate and address the issues about the academic and learning problems of students, and promote awareness of people about this issue through blogs and videos with the goal of giving tips to high school and college students.

SOCIAL CHANGE

1

Our group seeks to create "Edukadong Kabataan", a Facebook page, a blog combined with a video channel that will be beneficial in achieving our goals. The team will pursue producing infographics, video blogs, and pictures with descriptions in order to address issues regarding academic problems of students (e.g., cramming, demotivation, etc.) with proven possible solutions. Our project is aimed towards high school and college students with the hopes of this blog helping their daily academic struggle.

“HAGONOY: REDUCING FLOODS” STUDY CONCEPT

SOCIAL CHANGE

1

Hagonoy is located on low-lying ground near a coastal area located on the northern borders of Manila Bay, all of which contribute to the community's submergence whenever it rains excessively. Even at high tide, residents are quickly impacted. Additionally, the raising of the roadways is a contributing factor, as is the placement of nets and talaba farms at the mouth of the sea, which serves as the town's sole water entry and departure point. Due to the overcrowding of the entrance, the water flow is harmed. Our group's mission is to assist the community of Hagonoy in reducing floods. Additionally, we will establish a website to provide infographics on what is occurring on Hagonoy and how people may help. Our project's objective is to clear nets and farms from the entrance to the sea linked to the town, ensuring that no water is obstructed. Additionally, we want to clean the waterways and plant mangrove plants to assist mitigate the effects of the flood. This initiative will seek financial backing from the governor's office and the mayor's office. Additionally, residents are asked to assist with the clean-up effort.

Contributor YESHA DENISE BERNAL

This project will need one month of planning and six months of activity to complete. We will approach the higher-up’s concerning sponsors, including the governor's and mayor's offices. Additionally, we will launch an account for people interested in donating to the initiative. For publishing, we will disclose all of the specifics and the project's objective on our Facebook page. We will be purchasing mangrove plants, renting equipment, and hiring people to operate a backhoe in terms of expenditures. Contact us at yeshadeniseb@gmail.com if you have any more questions regarding this project.

Spotlight: "Pampanga"

Author KENNETH MACY ESTABILLO

This integrative art is composed of three different artworks: visual graphic art for its album art, audio-visual art for its song and lyric video, and literary art for its lyrics. The album art represents the three featured art forms and practices in Central Luzon. Specifically, the province of Pampanga. It focuses on the art of woodcarving or "dukit" (to carve) from Betis, "gitara" from Guagua, and "parol" & Giant Lantern Festival from San Fernando City, all located in Pampanga. Overall, the richness and beauty of the diverse art forms and practices from this province is enough to focus on. The album art is also composed of the three art forms mentioned above. The background, which represents the lanterns or parols from San Fernando, the guitar, which is Guagua's famous artwork, and the design from the guitar is what represents the style of Dukit in woodcarving.

LEARNING AND SHARING

4

"In today’s generation, people became very easy-goers of the trends in their community, and to the sayings of others. We tend to believe immediately without being analytic, optimistic, and decisive about the voices we heard. This could be in the fashions, sports, businesses, and even the power of technology. That is why through this webinar, we will open your perceptions about the significance of the term, “media and information literacy”."
