BUILT AROUND YOU, AND WHAT YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE!

Our Progress Coaches Once you have enrolled onto Progress, you will be assigned a Progress Coach. This person will be with you for your whole Progress journey, helping you to overcome obstacles, and navigate your way through your options. They will start by creating an action plan with you to help identify what you’d like to achieve, and the steps you need to take to get there. Then, through regular one-to-one and optional group sessions, you will work towards your goals. Your goals can be anything, from increasing your confidence, learning new skills or upskilling your existing ones, interview training and CV building, right through to finding work, training or a course which suits you. Progress is built around you, and what you want to achieve! 6

Who are the Progress Coaches? Depending on your age and where you live, you will be working with one of the following local organisations on Progress:

Progress is unique in that it provides an individualised support programme which helps those that are the furthest from any form of education, employment or training. It is one of the few youth employment programmes that supports the most vulnerable young people in our society in their journey to becoming employable. Abu Miah, Progress Coach

It’s great to see the ‘progress’ that young people go through during their time on the programme when they really begin to realise their potential. I would encourage young people to get involved because they can get additional resources to help them get to where they need to be no matter what stage they are at in their development. Cherelle Harding, Progress Coach

HELP GET YOU FUL FUTURE.

I LOVE MY JOB AND THE PEOPLE I WORK WITH ARE GREAT. IT FEELS GOOD TO BE EARNING MY OWN MONEY AND I FEEL LIKE I’M LIVING MY LIFE AS AN ADULT. NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE SUPPORT I GOT FROM PROGRESS.

11

Get inspired! Progress has helped hundreds of young people to get closer to the career they want, from courses in social care, floristry, web design and forensic science, right through to jobs in construction, security, retail, landscape gardening and animal care.

Joe, 22, Nuneaton “I first found out about Progress through the job centre. I met Bob – my Progress Coach – and I had a positive feeling that this would be the course that could help me. “I have a brain injury so there are limitations to the type of job I can do. I worked with Bob to come up with a plan of action, and he put me forward for qualifications that I can add to my CV. So far, I’ve done a fork-lifting qualification, a health and safety course and a NHS Administration traineeship, which I really enjoyed.

“The thing I’ve liked the most from my time on Progress is the fact that it’s one-to-one. I like that every course I’ve been put forward for, and the support I’ve received is personalised to me and my future. Bob has been an excellent influence in my life and he’s very supportive towards what I need – he’s not a robot, which I’ve found to be the case on other courses and programmes I’ve tried. “I enjoy working in IT and with computers, so my next step is to find a job or apprenticeship that will help me with this. I feel a lot more motivated now and feel proud that I have more on my CV that will help me to get a job.”

Arianne, 22, Coventry “I’ve always wanted to work with animals but I felt I lacked the confidence and skills to take it forward. Cherelle – my Progress Coach - encouraged me to pursue my passion and enrolled me on a six-week animal care course which I really enjoyed. I’m now in the process of starting my own social action project against animal cruelty, as well as applying for jobs. “I’ve enjoyed getting involved in different activities, including pottery painting, driving, skiing and raising money for charity. I have passed my driving theory test and had the opportunity to volunteer with different organisations, as well as making new friends. “Since joining Progress my confidence has definitely improved. Cherelle is always on hand to give advice and encourage me to think positively and believe in myself.”
