Around the corner from the ever buzzing road of Lalitpur, a little life café serves refuge for those who wish to slip away from reality, even just for a while—a place where the weight of the world fades, and the boundaries of what is possible dissolve.
Time does not rush here. It lingers in the golden afternoon light slipping through arched windows, in the pause between sips of coffee, in the gentle hush of someone lost in a book. It is a space shaped by wonder—the same wonder of a first-year architecture novice.
Its vaulted roof rises like the pages of an open book, sheltering towering shelves lined with stories waiting to be lived. Here, every corner hums with whispered tales, every sip of coffee feels like turning a new page, and real-

““Perhaps some day I’ll crawl back home, beaten, defeated. But not as long as I can make stories out of my heartbreak, beauty out of sorrow.”
-Sylvia Plath
The façade of the café is a poetic extension of its concept—Arched openings, reminiscent of pages gently turning, punctuate the rectangular form, allowing glimpses of the whimsical world inside. The vaults, inspired by the curvature of open books, create a rhythmic play of light and shadow throughout the day. The main entrance, framed by a larger arch, serves as a threshold into fiction—where one steps away from reality and into a realm of wonder.
Designed as part of my second-year architecture project, the home embraces simplicity and warmth, reflecting the essence of family life. The form consists of stacked rectangular volumes, creating varying levels that open into terraces—spaces of pause and reflection. The façade is clean and minimal, adorned with jali details and louvers that filter sunlight, casting ever-changing patterns across the interiors.
At its heart, the living room rises beyond a single floor, a space that is forever etched with the shared laughter and memories. The design encourages closeness while respecting personal space, with an open dining area extending seamlessly from the indoors to the outdoors. Near the entrance, a centrally placed shrine offers a moment of stillness—a place for quiet prayer before stepping into the world, carrying with it a silent promise of return.

A shelter of time— the living room, a lofty embrace, the stacked forms, layers of time and memory, ever-growing.
A threshold of moments— the front porch, a quiet farewell, the back porch, an unhurrying pause.
“All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”
- Leo Tolstoy
The façade embraces a simple and clean aesthetic, much like the essence of a family—uncomplicated yet deeply connected. Stacked forms create depth, while jali screens and louvers filter light, casting shifting patterns that echo the passage of time. Open yet protective, structured yet warm, the design reflects a home where memories gather, and every space breathes with a quiet sense of belonging.
The design of this convention center is deeply rooted in Christopher Alexander’s philosophy of courtyards as living, breathing spaces, where architecture nurtures human connection and fosters a sense of belonging. It presents itself as an interplay of masses and voids, where a series of courtyards shape both form and function. These courtyards are strategically arranged to ensure even distribution of natural light and wind, creating a comfortable and energy-efficient environment.
The spatial composition balances communal and directive spaces for the multiple attendees of various programs—where open courtyards foster interaction, and structured pathways guide diverse audiences to their destinations. Visual connectivity remains at the core of the design, ensuring that every space maintains a sense of openness and engagement. It carries itself as a dynamic landscape of exchange and experience.

The convention center integrates outdoor spill-out spaces, terraces, and semi-open corridors, allowing for informal conversations before and after programs without disrupting circulation. These spaces offer a choice in engagement—visitors can either mingle with the larger crowd or retreat into niche gathering areas, ensuring a smooth flow where crowds remain distinct yet connected.
The design emerges from a series of courtyards, where masses and voids are rearranged to optimize sunlight, wind flow, and visual connectivity. This spatial composition creates a network of communal spaces for interaction while guiding specific audiences through directive pathways, ensuring a seamless blend of climate response, movement, and engagement.
“I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as one.”
-John Lenon
Inspired by the majestic mountains, the convention center’s triangular façade reflects the peaks and ridges that define the nation’s landscape, reinforcing its role as a national landmark.

Multi-purpose
The rhythmic variations with folded walls introduce a sense of enthusiasm and vibrancy, reflecting the spirit of the events within.
The inclined columns lean forward with a sense of momentum, reinforcing the idea of progress and interaction. Meanwhile, the repetitive triangular motifs disrupt monotony, adding depth and texture to the space while maintaining a strong visual identity.
Above, the flat roofs serve a dual purpose—not only maintaining a clean and modern aesthetic but also accommodating solar panels for energy efficiency and sustainability. .

Inspired by the rich folklore of Nepal’s Bhoto Jatra festival, this board game was a fun little project devised by my peers and I. The graphics incorporates AI-generated icons with handtweaked elements in Photoshop to create a cohesive and immersive aesthetic. This project was a playful exploration of storytelling through design, where tradition meets modern creativity in a game of strategy and myth.
