We’re small, but we have big personality. We’re a thriving theatre and visual arts community. Take a stroll downtown for shopping, nightlife and dining. When you need to unwind, play in one of the city’s many sports clubs or check out the nearby civic centre which is home to hockey rinks, a fitness centre, and walking tracks. The beautiful Corner Brook Stream Trail offers close to 20 km of paths throughout the city, ideal for hiking and snowshoeing, while our extensive bike trail is perfect for mountain biking. Are you an adrenaline junkie? We’re a hub of adventure year round. There are areas to ski, snowboard, rock climb, hike and zipline – and it’s all close to campus, ready for you to explore!

Just 15 minutes from campus is Marble Mountain, 1,700 feet of top-notch skiing and snowboarding. A 60-minute car ride away is Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with marine inlets, rich forest and a glacier-carved fjord.

ADMISSIONS

HIGH SCHOOL applicants are required to complete a recognized university preparatory program, with acceptable senior level courses in five subject areas, typically including:

• English • a social science

• mathematics • one other subject area

• a laboratory science

Specific requirements by country/region are found at www.mun.ca/grenfellcampus. Students missing an eligible mathematics or laboratory science course who apply for a program that does not require completion of these courses may still be considered for general admission. Grade 12 mathematics requirement may be waivable for arts, business, environment and sustainability, and fine arts degrees at Grenfell Campus. For further information, please contact gcstudy@mun.ca.

TRANSFER APPLICANTS transferring from recognized post-secondary institutions are required to be in good standing at the end of their final semester at their former institution. Details on how to have your transfer credits evaluated can be found at www.mun.ca/regoff/ records/transfer-credits.

PROOF OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY is required for select international students applying for admission. Applicants who are required to submit proof of English proficiency must submit official scores from authorized testing authorities, such as TOEFL or IELTS. Students who do not meet the necessary English proficiency scores for admission to undergraduate studies should apply to Grenfell’s English as an Additional Language Program. Refer to the admissions link above to determine if POEP will be required with your application.

English as an Additional Language (EAL) Programs at Grenfell Campus include the Intensive English Program (IEP-G) and the Intensive English Bridge Program (IEBP-G). These programs are for students who do not meet the necessary English proficiency requirements for admission to undergraduate study. The Intensive English Bridge Program at Grenfell prepares students for the language demands of undergraduate study in English and allows them to earn undergraduate credit at the same time.

COUNTRY-SPECIFIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

indian CURRICULUM Completion of Higher Secondary (such as the CBSA, State, or all India higher secondary certificate) with a minimum overall grade of 60% in the required subject areas and a “pass” in all five subject areas. Proof of English language proficiency is required through a standardized test. IELTS is the recommended test for the Canadian visa/study permit application.

UK-PATTERNED CURRICULUM

Completion of the GCE, including a minimum grade of C in the required subject areas at the O-level, and at least three AS-Level or two A-Level subjects with a minimum grade of C. Students who completed First Language English at the O-level are usually exempt from providing proof of English proficiency. Students who completed English (Second Language) at the O-level must provide proof of English proficiency via standardized test results.

A higher admission average and/ or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions. THREE SIMPLE STEPS TO APPLY

1. APPLY ONLINE. The application deadline is March 1 (for September admission), but applications for some programs will be considered after this date. $300 CAD application fee. apply.mun.ca

2. SEND YOUR DOCUMENTS. Scanned copies of interim documents may be self-submitted by the student to admiss.docs@mun.ca for consideration for provisional admission. Only official documents can be used to assess applicants for final admission. Official documents must be sent by their issuing authority to admiss.docs@mun.ca or by post mail/courier to the address below for considered for final admission. High school students are required to include certified high school certificates. Transfer students require certified high school certificates and official college/university transcripts (originals). Proof of English proficiency is normally required.

Living on campus is affordable, convenient, safe, and most of all, fun.

Your fees include a private bedroom, wireless Internet, a kitchen, and laundry facilities.

Whether you live in traditional residences or a chalet-style apartment, you will get your own bedroom and semi-private bathroom. Half of our students live on campus and are part of a close-knit residence community.

First-year students who apply by March 1 are guaranteed a room for the year (some conditions apply). Apply online and pay your $20 application fee.

Scholarships

Grenfell Campus offers international scholarships valued at $6,000 CAD. These scholarships are competitive and based solely on your admission average. Scholarship consideration typically requires a minimum of 90%, though this does not necessarily guarantee that you will receive a scholarship, as they are competitive.

Marina Redmond centre

The Marina Redmond Centre is a new recreation complex that officially opened on campus in Spring 2025. The facility is run by the City of Corner Brook and includes two pools (with a waterslide), fitness centre, a gymnasium, and a day care facility.

GETTING HERE

If you live outside Canada, you will clear customs in cities such as Toronto, Montreal, Halifax or St. John’s, then take a connecting flight to Deer Lake Airport (YDF). You should be aware of customs regulations. We’re located in western Newfoundland, on Canada’s East Coast. We’re 40 minutes from the Deer Lake Airport (YDF).

Grenfell is about an eight-hour (670 km) drive from our capital city, home of Memorial’s St. John’s Campus and Marine Institute.
