Holocaust Memorial Program By BETH A. LORD On Wednesday and Thursday, April 11 and 12, a program about the Halocaust will be held at Longwood. A lecture entitled "The Holocaust: From Memory to History" will be given on April 11 at 8:00 p.m. In Wygal Auditorium by Dr. Charles W. Sydnor. Jr.. an expert on Nazi Germany. Dr. Sydnor will be! available for classroom appearances on the morning of the 12th until the Holocaust Memorial Service, which will be held at 1:00 p.m. In Dlackwell Mall. The rain location for this service is the Rotunda. Also, during the first two weeks of April, a collection of photographs taken by Dr. Sydnor will be on display In Lancaster Library. These were taken In
Germany and include pictures of concentration camps. Dr. Sydnor has been the 18th President of Emory and Henry College since March of 1985 and is currently the chair of the Education and Halocaust Education Committee of the Virginia-Israel Commission. He served as executive assistant to Governor Robb from 1982 to 1984 and was a member of Longwood's History faculty from 1972 to 1980. Dr. Sydnor was assistant to Hampden-Sydney President Joslah Bunting for two years and has been an expert witness for the Office of Special Investigations of the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice in the investigation of

The Challenge '90 comittee has set $30,000 as their goal. Hudson feels that "with a class of over 600 members, this Is very reachable. It will require 100% participation but I think everyone will be more than glad to give." In the next few weeks seniors should be approached by fellow class members who will solicit their contribution. Announcement of the class fund will take place at commencement on May 12, and gift will be endowed in five years at Homecoming. "When dealing with this many potential contributors. It Is hard to reach everyone, if a senior Is not contacted within the next few weeks they can call me or stop by Institutional Advancement, we will be glad to help them," Hudson said.
