Since my first concert in Greenville, have been dreaming about this moment, remembering my time here embraced by the spectacular fall colors and the warm welcome from everyone I met. look forward to riding a bike along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, enjoying dinner downtown after rehearsal, and running into you in Falls Park! More than anything, I’ve been looking forward to the chance to work with this incredible orchestra.

My mission in life, which our musicians share, is to bring people together to create shared moments of beauty. We have the joy to work in an art form that seems to have a magical capacity to bring together people from all walks of life, transcending politics, religion, sports-team affiliations, age, gender, and economics. Music is universal, and all are welcome in our hall.

Step into a world of musical brilliance as we unveil our season opener under the baton of the next Music Director of the Greenville Symphony. Joining forces with three esteemed local collegiate choruses, we’ll ignite the stage with Heitor VillaLobos’ evocative Chôros No. 10, “Rasga o coraçao,” followed by the monumental ninth symphony, famous for it’s “Ode to Joy” melody. This important concert marks a thrilling next chapter for our orchestra, promising an incredible evening of joy, unity, and the power of collective harmony.

With a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, this story is an Enlightenmentera social commentary with lots of laughs thrown in. Revel in the radiant strings as they illuminate Bach’s iconic Brandenburg Concerto No. 3. Then, we’ll welcome Principal Viola Kathryn Dey to the stage for some Baroque-inspired brilliance! Katie will enchant us with a concerto by French composer Henri Casadesus, a work deeply infused with the spirit of the Bach family, particularly Johann Sebastian Bach’s son, Johann Christian. Next, we head to Brazil to experience the rhythmic vitality of Brazilian composer Camargo Guarnieri’s Concerto para cordas e percussão blending strings and percussion in a dynamic fusion of sound. Finally, we conclude with Grieg’s sparkling Holberg Suite written in the style of eighteenth-century dances.
