he first-ever Greensboro Fashion Week was held on Sept. 5-6th at the Elm Street Center in Downtown Greensboro over a rollicking three-day schedule. Things kicked off with our Meet & Greet at Creative Custom Design Studio, with a 1930s Great Gatsby theme. OnFriday night, we highlighted six rising stars in our first-ever Emerging Designer Night: Danielle Wiggins, Justin Clark, Uvana Doran, Myline Kamsch and Nhi Tran. On Saturday night we brought in David’s Bridal, Ivy and Leo, Guess, Rare Denim Lounge, Cache, Alter’d State and BCBG to show the state of fashion in the city. Angel Clark was our very first Model of the Year.

2015 Greensboro Fashion Week

n 2015, Greensboro Fashion Week moved the show around town, with a Thursday-night red-carpet Meet & Greet at Red Cinema and Marshall Free House.

Our emerging Designers Competition took place under a huge oak tree at the Historic Blandwood Mantion, the first time GSOFW brought

the runway outdoors. Emerging designers were Edward White, Jessica Brooks, Shareen Sloan, Cleo Faucette, Bob Smithey, Andre Thornton, Dani Gosha, Rasoul Butler and Brittany Campbell) For the first time, emerging designers competed in a the Wrangler Jeans competition, designing original looks with a pair of Wrangler Cowboy cut rigid indigo original fit jeans. Dani Gosha came out the winner.

Our Saturday and Sunday shows were held at the Marriot Hotel Downtown Greensboro. Saturday night highlighted the local boutiques such as Polliwogs, Wrangler, Palm Avenue, Simply Megs, Step n Style Altar’d State, Dolce Dimora, Gordons Menswear, Rebecca and Co, Talbots and Kriegsman Luxury and Outerwear). Sunday we had our first ever I Do Runway show which highlighted the local Bridal Stores such as Davids Bridal, Myline’s Bridal, Step N Style, Patina, Wrangler, Gordons Menswear, Elegant Bridal, Divas Boutique) Portion of the proceeds from this week went to Emily’s Plea. 016 Greensboro Fashion Week kicked off with a Meet & Greet Glitz and Gold themed party at Belk. There we revealed our emerging designer, sponsors, and models. Then we returned to our original home at the Elm Street Center. Thursday night saw a Private Showing for Kriegsman Luxury and Outerwar and Dresscode.

Friday Night we highlighted the emerging designers such as Brian Atkins, Edward White, Liamcy Hogan, Danielle Wiggins, Monique Renee Wiggins, Elva Vieyra, Palmira Carrera Jarquin, Emily Costlow, Raven Ledbetter, Kerri Murray, Lindsay Broughton, Jasmine T. Rhodes and Jokenya Brown. This year designers were charged with re-imagining a classic Wrangler denim jacket; Emily Costlow took home the honors. On Saturday Local Boutiques and National Brands such as (Belk, Wrangler, The Hub LTD, Buckle, K i d ’s G a p , D o l c e D i m o ra , Altar’d State, Talbots, Gymborees and Rare Denim took over the runway. Sunday’s I Do bridal Show and highlighted bridal stores such as Mylines Bridal, Davids Bridal, Belk, Wrangler and Elizabella’s Bridal. Sandy Stirrup was chosen as the 2016 Greensoro Fashion Week model of the year.

or the first time ever Greensboro Fashion Week presented the Summer edition. This show was created to give the audience a sneak peak of what’s to come at Greensboro Fashion Week in the fall. Each emerging Designer showcases a three-piece collection to give the audience a taste of their work. This show was held at the Center for Visual Artist downtown Greensboro.

017 was a very special year because longtime GSFOW friend Wrangler celebrated its 70th anniversary. Our Meet & Greet promised to Paint the Town Red at Elizabellas Bridal on Battleground Avenue. On Wednesday Wrangler hosted a Jeansboro event at LeBauer park with a small fashion show to promote Wrangler’s showcase on Thursday at the Elm Street Center in downtown Greensboro. They showcased four categories of Wrangler style: Traditional, Western, Retro Glory and a limited edition Peter Max line evocative of the 1970s. Emerging designers worked with 10 yards of raw denim illustrating the decade of Wrangler fashion from the 1950s through the current era. Kyler Arnold took home the honors. On Friday, 12 Emerging Designers debuted their original collections. Keon Brown took home the $1,000 prize. After opening designer Jospeh McRae’s demo line, our Emerging Designers were Keon Brown, Caitlin Rhyne, Savannah Martin, Terrence Henderson, Jasmine Rhodes, Emily Costlow, Andre Thornton, Amber Kapas, Kyler Arnold and Tygerian Burke.

Saturday’s show brought in Old Navy, Altar’d State, Talbots, Kriegsman Luxury and Outerwear, Serendipity, Mack and Mack, Wrangler, Charming Charlie and Saks off 5th. On Sunday, Kriegsman Luxury outerwear and Mack and Mack held a private show, donating the proceeds to the Women’s Resource Center of Greensboro. Gracie Kirkland was chosen as the 2017 Greensboro Fashion Week Model of the year.

2018 Greensboro Fashion Week’s Summer Edition

G

reensboro Fashion Week held its second Summer Edition at the historic, refurbished Daily Bread Flour Mill, now known as the Mill Entertainment Complex. This show gave the audience an exclusive preview of the 2018 emerging designers with 5-piece collections of previous work. In their most creative spectacle to date, the outdoor Elm street venue made a stunning backdrop for summer style.

Perhaps the show’s most impressive touches were those that greeted attendees as they arrived: lavish show cars from Flow Mazda and three head-to-toe painted live-mannequins wearing only tastefully adorned flowers.

Positioned on the outdoor catwalk, these live-mannequins helped bring the flower and wood backdrop to life, while sunny (but slightly overcast) weather created the perfect filter for attendee selfies and snaps of the show. In a GSOFW first, attendees included fashion “influencers” from across the region. These guests were hand-picked based on their social media following and besides VIP tickets to the show, they were also given supermodel treatment beforehand. (The group was chauffeured across town in Flow Mazda premium cars, pampered from head-to-toe at EyeSalons, and fed lunch at LaRue.)

2018 Greensboro Fashion Week

018 Greensboro Fashion week will be held Oct. 2-7, a 6-day event in five different locations.

We kicked of Greensboro Fashion Week at the Mill Entertainment Complex where our Summer Edition was held. Tuesday we kick of GSOFW with a Meet & Greet in Sprite’s theme of lemon-lime green — Sprite chose Greensboro Fashion Week as one of the three fashion weeks in the US to sponsor. Wednesday is a sponsors-only event at Havana Phil’s Cigar Lounge on Battleground Avenue, with cocktails crafted specially for GSOFW by Fainting Goat Spirits, fine cigars and food from 1618 Catering. Thursday starts of with the first ever Kids Fashion Show at the Greensboro Children’s Museum. Friday and Saturday night events will be held at Piedmont Triad International Airport, in the private hangers of Koury Aviation. Another amazing first for Greensboro Fashion Week! Friday Night will be our emerging Designer competition where the winner will be awarded $1,500. The Saturday show will be all local boutiques and national brands and Sunday show we head back downtown to Van Dyke Performance center where Kriegsman lLuxury Outerwear and Mack and Mack will be having a private showing, with all the proceeds benefiting ArtsGreensboro.
