Before 1939, the land upon which Green Park Court now stands was pasture land.
However, all this changed with the enactment of the Camps Act on 25 May 1939.
In February 1939, the then Home Secretary announced that the Government had decided to proceed with the erection of a number of camps (including one at Whiteacre Lane in Barrow) and would entrust the work to two non-profit earning companies, one for England and Wales (National Camps Corporation Ltd) and the other for Scotland and that the companies would be set up and financed by the Government.
This documents the chronicle of events surrounding the construction of Whiteacre Camp and then into Whiteacre Camp Boarding School and eventually its metamorphosis into Green Park Court.
