“Building on its success during an unprecedented era in healthcare, Takoma Regional Hospital’s focus remains steadfast.”

• The Internal Medicine Perioperative Clinic is a new service that works with primary care providers to evaluate patients prior to surgery, optimizing medical conditions and minimizing risk of complications during and immediately after surgery. Candi Overholt, M.D., an internal medicine provider, heads up the highly trained staff, which includes Susan Breeden, a family nurse practitioner. The clinic is located in the Takoma Medical Office Building, 438 E. Vann Road, Suite 201, in Greeneville. For more information, please call 423-278-1800. • Chronic Care Management, a specialized service provided by Coordinated Care Services, benefits Medicare patients with two or more significant, chronic conditions. As part of this program, the team works with patients and providers to help coordinate care, to provide medication management, and to answer any questions. The team also creates a personalized care plan for participating patients, as well as provides monthly check-ins. For more information, please contact Stephanie Creech at Takoma Regional at 423-798-8404. • Melanie Davidson, M.D., recently added radiofrequency vein ablation to her full spectrum of cardiology services. This relatively painless procedure is performed in an outpatient setting. For more information, please call 423-278-1842. • Greeneville IndustiCare has expanded its services to include Workplace Health and Wellness. This addition features specially designed wellness programs to reduce health risks and absenteeism while leading to higher job satisfaction, better work productivity and lower health care costs. Greeneville IndustriCare currently manages the Greene County Health Clinic on a full-time basis and has a part-time wellness coordinator onsite for the Town of Greeneville and Premium Waters. For more information, please call 423-636-9828 for IndustriCare and 423-798-8102 for Workplace Health and Wellness.

“We are continuing to expand our services to meet the health needs of this community,” said Albright. “We will focus even more on community health programs that encourage healthy lifestyles where we live, work and play.” In other advancements: Takoma Regional switched from Cerner’s electronic medical record to Epic software in November 2017. “Epic provides seamless care between all of our provider clinics and Takoma Regional, as well as other facilities throughout Wellmont Health System,” said Albright. “It’s one patient, one health record, no matter where you receive care within our system.” • The hospital also is undergoing a nursery renovation project to update the space for its smallest patients. The nursery has benefited from a $15,000 grant from First Tennessee Bank, as well as assistance from the U.S. Agriculture Department that was used to purchase equipment. A fundraising initiative was launched to bolster donations with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals matching every dollar up to $50,000. Wellmont is the region’s affiliate for Children’s Miracle Network, which means Takoma Regional now benefits from the financial support provided by national sponsors, business partners and individual donations. For more information on how to support the nursery project, please call 423-230-8550. •
