Our mission is to motivate and inspire companies to accelerate their ESG initiatives.

– Stephanie Armistead General Manager, GreenBusiness WORKS

Welcome to the first edition of the Southeastern Corporate Sustainability Rankings. In an effort to assess the mainstream marketplace in the Southeast, GreenBusiness WORKS has collaborated and contracted with KLD research in the creation of the first Southeastern Corporate Sustainability Rankings. Our goal is to publish the Rankings on an annual basis to create awareness about corporate sustainability and where publicly traded companies headquartered in the Southeast are on their GreenScape.™ As with any ranking, it is important to understand the methodology. Since this is the first year in ranking Southeastern companies, we thought it only fair to approach the 2010 ranking using an aggregate score of environmental, social and governance (ESG) and then group companies alphabetically in their corresponding quintile. The research for the Rankings was conducted by KLD with analysts from academic and professional backgrounds including law, economics, finance, international relations, environmental policy and corporate responsibility. More in-depth information on the methodology used by KLD is provided on the website. Corporate Sustainability is a business approach that creates longterm shareholder value by embracing opportunities and innovation, while managing risks deriving from economic, environmental, and social developments. The 2010 Rankings are a starting point from which we can share in the journey of our corporate citizens and celebrate the successes of those who are engaged and poised for prosperity. We will look to them for leadership and ask them to accept this responsibility. For those who have not started or who are just beginning their journey, we invite them to reach out, become engaged, and prepare to reap prosperity. Best Regards,

Stephanie Stephanie Armistead General Manager GreenBusiness Works

“I believe that we are at a turning point in the investing mandate in portfolio management. Over the next 10-20 years we will see sustainable and responsible investing become the norm. Investors will not consider investing in companies that are not being proactive in their move to embrace the SRI and ESG criteria.” – Mark Callaway

Methodology KLD created for GreenBusiness WORKS a custom ranking of companies in the Southeast region of the U.S. based on overall environmental, social and governance performance (ESG). Companies were selected from the largest 3,000 U.S. equities from Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. Companies were ranked from highest to lowest scoring in overall ESG performance and then broken down into quintiles. The companies are presented in alphabetical order by quintile. Information also includes market capitalization and industry. KLD’s research framework generates an analysis and rating of each company’s management of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. The rating criteria address a company’s ESG performance in the context of five categories, covering key corporate stakeholders.

Data Sources Analysts collect and analyze data from sources in three categories:

The Company

Government and NGO

• Direct communication • Annual Report • 10-k • Proxy • Other Regulatory Filings • Sustainability/CSR Reports

• Labor and environmental regulatory data • Human and labor rights organizations • Environmental advocacy groups • International Labor Relations

Media • Over 14,000 media sources

Environment KLD’s rating criteria for Environment cover a company’s management of its environmental challenges, including its efforts to reduce or offset the impact of its products and operations.

Community & Society KLD’s Community & Society rating criteria measure how well a company manages its impact on the communities where it operates, including its treatment of local populations, its handling of human rights issues and its commitment to philanthropic activities.

Employees & Supply Chain KLD’s Employees & Supply Chain rating criteria assess a company’s record managing its employees, contractors and suppliers. Issues of particular interest include labormanagement

relations,

anti-discrimination

policies and practices, employee safety, and the labor rights of workers throughout the company’s supply chain.

“In order to realize and maximize incentive value on renewable
