Welcome to the FALL season!

The YMCA offers a valuable sports experience through our Youth Sports program. Our program teaches young people not only about basic, fundamental sports skills and the importance of physical activity throughout a lifetime, but also about responsibility, leadership, integrity, nonviolent conflict resolution, sportsmanship, and cooperation. The YMCA incorporates the character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into an enjoyable environment of team play and skill building.

Childhood health risks have skyrocketed in our nation due to an increase in youth obesity and inactivity. It seems that everywhere we turn we are hearing a story regarding this alarming news. As a community we can rally together and with a tremendous amount of effort through recreation programs, such as Youth Sports, we can increase physical activity and fitness amongst our youth. Registration Process Everyone MUST Register In Person ALL SPORTS LEAGUES ARE FREE WITH YOUR FAMILY MEMBERSHIP!

Family Membership: FREE + $15 Jersey** Youth Membership: $31 + $15 Jersey** Non YMCA Members: $59 + $15 Jersey**

Youth Sports FALL REGISTRATION KICK OFF AUGUST 5 & 6, 2013 Register at the any of the Greater Green Bay YMCA centers in person until August 18th. Registration is accepted in person only to stay in accordance with parent/ guardian signature requirements for the WIAA concussion form. Regrettably, we cannot accept phone or online registrations for our Youth Sports programs. Space is limited, so sign up right away!

Member Registration:

JERSEYS ** We will have reversible jerseys for $15, which the child will be able to wear for any Youth Sports league he or she signs up for in the future. Replacement jerseys will be subject to the $15 fee.

LATE REGISTRATION Open Registration will continue in person at any center until August 21st. Starting August 22nd, registrations can only be processed in person at the Broadview YMCA. We encourage you to register at the center most convenient to you before August 21st.

CONCUSSION FORM In accordance with Wisconsin state law, all Youth Sports participants, parent/ guardians and volunteer coaches will need to sign a concussion form for each sport they participate in each session. NEW! PARENT OF THE DAY: For many children, our 4 year old Youth Sports is their first experience with a team or league program. As the parent/guardian of a 4 year old, you will be assigned to be the “Parent of the Day” for at least 1 week of your child’s session.

You will assist the Y Volunteer Coaches with the skills practice or game on their your assigned day. This role can be filled by a parent, guardian, grandparent, or any other special adult in your 4 year old’s life. Your assigned day will be on the schedule that is available on the first day of your child’s session.

The Broadview & East Side Y offers girls or co-eds the opportunity to build skills and play the game invented by the YMCA.

BASEBALL Ages 7-9

Grab your glove and let’s play ball! Fun instructional league includes real baseball rules. Using an official hard ball, everyone bats the first inning, after which we will play 3 out innings. The program runs on Wednesday evenings beginning August 28th.

LACROSSE

Basketball

Ten players per team use netted sticks to pass a small rubber ball between players working towards scoring a goal.

Emphasis is on fundamentals including catching, passing, scooping, dodging and defense.

Let’s tip it off and play some basketball.

This program places emphasis on participation, skills, values and fun rather than winning. The first two weeks are team practice, the remaining four are games. (No score is kept.)

Learn the basics of flag football through good sportsmanship and how to play as a team. The first 2 weeks of the program are practice, while the remaining weeks incorporate games. The program runs on Saturday mornings starting September 14th or Monday evenings starting August 26th.

“FUN”DAMENTAL CLINIC Ages 5-10

We are excited to offer this NEW clinic to teach Youth the basic skills of Football. In this 2 hour clinic, your child will learn the following skills: positions & roles, blocking, receiving, throwing & running. This clinic will prepare your athlete for our YMCA Flag Football program and future programs. Space is limited, fee is $20.
