CertificationExamValidityPeriod
• Validity Period: After passing your Certification Exam’s LAST module, You have up to 12 months to finish ALL provincial exam modules which includes time for administrative processing of your license
• Recommendation: Aim to complete the exams within 11 months. The final month allows for processing, which is included in the 12-month period.
• Consequence: If administrative processing of your license exceeds 12 months due to last-minute completion of your last module in provincial exam, you risk having to retake the certification exam and the last module of your provincial exams - even if provincial modules are passed within the 12 months.
Example
If you pass the first module of the provincial exam, and then passed the last module of the provincial exam just before the 12 MONTHS expire of your certification, you may be required to recertify and rewrite your certification and provincial exam because the license approval may come out AFTER the 12 MONTHS expire - which is why you must treat it as 11 months time limit instead.
Step1:Access Your CIPR Profileby logging in at CIPR website. https://www.cipr.ca/
Step2:Find Your CertificationDate: Scroll down in your profile, select "LLQP"to view the "Certificationdate".
NoDateDisplayed? If the "Certificationdate" fieldis empty, you have not completedthe CertificationExam.
If your Certificationfrom Advocis is already expired, you must re-register to Advocis and complete all Certificationexams again.
RegistrationLink to Advocis for Greatway members: https://info.advocis.ca/advocis-greatwayeducation
Registeredwitha different provider? If you have completedyour Certificationelsewhereaside from Advocis, please consultyour certificationprovider on how to Re-Certify
Onceyou pass theFIRST MODULE, you have 12 MONTHS to completeall the modules AND to get your licensedissued. YOUMUST treatit as only 11 MONTHS allowanceto takethe exam, as provincial councilsalso count administrativeprocessing withinthistimeframe.
Example
If you pass the certification exam, but did not pass the provincial exam within 12 MONTHS, you would need to register for an exam re-write (fee required). Likewise, if you book your exam but the only availability falls just before the 12 months end, the council may still require you to do re-write the certification because the results may come out AFTER the 12 MONTHS expire. Therefore you must treat it as 11 months time limit instead.
PlanAhead: Aimto finishall theprovincialexams includinglicenseprocessing wellbefore the12month limit to avoid theseissues.
CIPR Update:Allow 1-2 business days for your CIPR profile to reflect your certification exam pass beforescheduling the provincial exam.
Certification Status: Referto the 'Checking your Certification Validity’ slide for guidance on verifying your CIPR certification exam status.
Thereare 4 modules to be tested:
• LifeInsurance, 75 minutes and 30 questions (+5 pilot questions*)
• AccidentandSickness, 75 minutes and 30 questions (+5 pilot questions*)
• SegregatedFundsandAnnuities, 75 minutes and 30 questions (+5 pilot questions*)
• EthicsandProfessionalPractice, 75 minutes and 20 questions (+5 pilot questions*)
Exam Scheduling Tips:
• Flexibility:Modules can be completedin any order. It's strategic to schedule the last module you studied first in provincial , while the information is fresh.
• SpacingOutExams:Consider taking modules on differentdays so as not to be overloaded. This approachis recommendedfor optimal results
*Pilot Questions: these are questions under development which are not included in the score but mixed in the questionnaire

Getting a new CIPR number when you already have an existing one will cause issues with the CIPR and Provincial exam booking with the insurance council. Try to retrieve your old CIPR number as much as possible. If you do not remember your CIPR number, you may log in the CIPR website https://www.cipr.ca/login/ and select “Login with Email” below the Login button
If you do not remember your email which you used, or if logging in by email address does not work, you would need to send an email to cipradmin@abcouncil.ab.ca
Indicate your full name, date of birth, City/municipality of residence for identity verification. Then indicate your request for email change and CIPR number retrieval.
